I have really been thinking of upgrading my 10.5 to a 12.9 but only when this new one is released. I brought a 10.5 right before the 11 came out and have always regretted it. Won't make that mistake again.

What I was saying is, why would iPads release with a release candidate that is not a public release. I would think iOS should go public the same day as iPads are launched if their going together.
They would probably release the RC when they announce the new iPads and then release the final version when they’re ready to ship.

Aight, tomorrow might be the day then, with an event next Wednesday. Apple does like Thursdays, I posted a chart of a bunch of events and announcement dates in the iOS speculation thread.

This is probably the reason why there’s not been an announcement yet:

“MacBook and iPad production delayed as supply crunch hits Apple”

This doesnt specify the upcoming ipad pro model will be having the shortage. maybe its only for regular ipad model as their delievery on apple site is for around 4week. and ipad pro delivery is within 2 days. So i dont think pro model is having shortage of chip.

I'm pretty sure its due to the fact that there is a global shortage of silicon chips - i.e. for every computer, laptop, smartphone, tablet... pretty much every electronic device. The iPad Pro is no different and is no doubt being affected or atleast restricted by this current situation, despite TSMC reportedly being one of the lesser affected manufacturers.

I could see leakers be accurate and then this shortage causing the date to be delayed and delayed again. It's possible that this is what is happening here.

this is yours perspective , my POV is if apple wants to delay ipad pro launch then why they are delaying ios 14.5 launch , Is that also need some kind of CHIP 🤣

I have to highlight the following line from the article:

‘As a result of the delay, Apple has pushed back a portion of component orders for the two devices from the first half of this year to the second half, the people said.’

With this statement, I assume apple has merely just reduced its order size down a bit to relieve the pressure, now in regards to how much this has been reduced hasn’t actually been released, this could just be 10% reduction, which will have a small impact on availability after initial launch.

This article in no way means a launch isn’t still happening, it just means after the initial stock has gone, consumers might be waiting a while to receive their new iPads.

been putting off a purchase for months. really hope they announce something next week or I'm just gonna cave lol

Tempted to go for the 12.9 but I cant stomach a 50$ sale price on the current one when a new one should go out. I’ll pay that 50 for a new. itching to get rid of the 10.5. So many problems.

Well, I caved in and picked up a brand new in box 2018 11inch 512GB cellular for £750. 30 day return window so am leaving it unopened until the end of the day just in case of a surprise announcement, but then it's coming out and replacing my white spotted 10.5.

Where did you buy it from?
Curry's web store on eBay - they still have a bunch left. It's also selling at around that price on their website too. I assume they are clearing some very old warehouse stock ahead of a possible new iPad.

I figured that no matter what comes out next week - or later this year - at £750 it's clearly better value than a maxed out iPad Air, which is £859 and for which you lose 256GB of storage, Pro Motion, quad speakers, FaceID and a tiny bit of screen real estate. Air's CPU is newer but not clearly better and not really a major factor for my usage anyway.

I think I would only regret going the NIB 2018 route if the new Pro model brings something to the table that is a major improvement. Personally, a new CPU, a new camera, magsafe and thunderbolt aren't that for me.

OLED or MicroLED on the 11 inch might be though - an iPad is basically all screen, so even a small upgrade there can make a big difference. Now if a headphone jack came back...

I would love to purchase the new Ipad Pro, although my ipad air 3 still does fine. I would love the new Ipad Pro's new chip and functionality of an macbook pro. I really hope that the new IpadOS 15 update would allow some mac apps to run on the Ipad Pro, as it will have the power to do so.

How does everyone feel about the Senate hearing on the 21st. Does this reduce the likelihood of a announcement this Wednesday and an event a week later on the 21st?

They’re not going to do an event that close to WWDC. It’s highly unlikely we’re seeing an event.

You need to remember that Apple prerecords these events in advance. They're no longer live.

I think we will see invites go out in two days. It's purely a gut feeling, but it lines up with Apple's software releases.
