I'm ready and willing to buy now!

As a current Kindle2 (6") user, I can't wait to own this. Just the e-reader experience is the deal-maker for me. I was considering a Kindle DX, but its $489.00 and is really only a reader.

The extra's on the iPad like web browsing and games are icing on the cake.

Also, I gotta say that the iWork apps look useful as well. I will be very interested to try them out.

I can't imagine this replacing my macbook air for writing/spreadsheeting but it will certainly work in a pinch.

Can't wait! - I will probably buy the 32GB - non 3G model - $600.00 seems decent for all it can do.

Why would you say lame?

Honestly, simply because of the OS. I have two Windows machines at work and I just have problems all the time. Before I bought my first Mac and all I ever knew was Windows, all I had were problems. I can't tell you the hours upon hours I wasted trying to solve simple problems. Anyway, that's the reason. Not so much that it's HP, necessarily.

I vote wait for revision B

I certainly see the future for the iPad. I don't think it's here yet. I see college students lugging this around instead of their books. I see people sitting on their sofas reading magazines delivered to them wirelessly. I see business people making last minute revisions to their mobile presentations.

That's the future.

At first I wasn't so sure about it..because of all the hype, I expect so much and found myself disappointed upon seeing it. However, started talking to my friend about the iPad and we quickly realize how useful this device is! No more stacks of subscription magazines to throw away at the end of the year..or do you ever run into a dilemma of 'should i keep or throw away a magazine' because of an article you like? No more! Or when I am traveling, I can purchase magazines and novels at the airport using the iPad..so I dont have to be lugging around all the paper weight!

This is going to be a game changer! It may not happen overnight, but it will be!

10 reasons why I will NOT buy an Apple iPad:

10 reasons why I will NOT buy an Apple iPad:

1. It is not what I expected from an Apple tablet.
2. Screen resolution. It only does 1024x768 (the same as an iBook G4!, no native 720p, that means all those HD videos from the Apple store won't play back at full resolution).
3. Screen is not 16:9 (widescreen).
4. No direct way to connect an external hard drive or USB thumb drive.
5. Apple's A4 1Ghz processor is still untested for everyday life use.
6. Sofware bugs usually present in new solfware.
7. No camera (it would be nice to use iChat on this machine).
8. $170 US dollars for 3G (also, 4G is just around the corner).
9. No FLASH support.
10. With the ammount of content I have in my iTunes library, I'll be needing more that 16, 32 or 64GB of storage space (80 to 120gb should do it. But then again, they are using flash drives).

Of course I did not expected an computer type tablet from Apple but who are kidding here. This thing is just an over sized iPod Touch. Who is their target market, elderly people with poor eye sight?.
While I don't want another laptop computer, I do want some computer-like features. Like the ability to transfer and load documents. I guess my iPhone will do for now.

I'll be getting one on the release. I'm still deciding between Wifi only or both wifi and 3G. My Fiancé will be getting one too!

Can't wait, I work on a computer all day and I really look forward to coming home and not having to use yet another computer to my personal use.

Ive seen you post that list on YouTube videos. You really have a grudge against this machine. Personally I think it fills the niche perfectly. Id love to have it, but my current needs label it as a "luxury product".

If I ever got one it would be the lower end wifi version.

Perfect for work

WOW. I just finished the keynote from today. I run a hotel and my mind is running wild with how I can use this machine every day!

I currently run around my hotel with a large notepad and pen with my iPhone in my other hand. Why not have this to keep me in touch with all my email, calendar, notes and contacts? I am thinking that an application for my hotels PMS program will be perfect!

Really it is not a computer but it will work for the very mobile person!

So your PMS program is going to be handled by your iPad eh...fantastic naming...

Definitely, but not the 3G model. It doesn't make sense to me when I already have an iPhone with a data plan. If I need to I can just share my iPhone's connection with the iPad. I'd prefer 128GB of storage and I'm sure the second generation will offer that, but I can't stand to wait that long. If this thing gets hacked it will be absolutely insane.

Will definitely pick one up, probably the wifi only one as I can't see me needing to take it out of the house (and if i'm wrong i'll just flip it and buy the 3G one)

It's the perfect price point for White MacBook to be sold and wife can use the unibody for when she works from home.

I'll be getting the iWork apps, but don't really need any other productive software. Should make browsing the web in bed or on the couch easier, not fussed about the lack of flash. And seeing as i've never used the camera on any laptop i've ever owned I won't miss it.

Flash should die and HTML5 should take it's place.

I'm buying one, most likely the 16GB WiFi one and then I'll return it within the 14 day policy so I can get the 3G one when it comes out. I'm only buying the WiFi one for my YouTube channel.

going to replace my MBA

Its a perfect replacement for MBA, I already have a MBP to do coding etc.

No, I won't. This is the crappiest product I've ever seen after Apple TV :D

Oh! Yes... they will sell a lot of units, but people won't use them to read because that ugly, obsolete pad is not designed for you to read regardless of how many times Steve says so :)
This is just a pretty digital frame :) (Perhaps it may be useful for hospitals, etc... but consumers want a decent slate, not this one)

20 years of slates... and Apple wants to sell the idea of revolution... they wish

iPad- The new :apple:-scented sanitary pad. I guess.

Anyway, yes I'll be buying a 64GB iPad without 3G.

imaxiPad = iSteroids + iPod touch

What a disappointment .....

No I really can't see I need one.

It would be a good digital photo frame And depending on speaker quality a nice portable music player.

I don't read books or newspapers as I just use my iPhone or mac for browsing.

Lack of phone or front facing camera is the biggest mistake apple have made since apple tv.

I watched the keynote and really you could sense the flat dissapointed atmosphere despite the obvious apple stand in to occasionally go sloop and yea on occasion.

It's just a toy really. They should have aimed at business Market too not just to gen y

I'll stick my neck out and say this will flop well it will selll but not in the numbers they think.

Major let down.
