Such as? Because bluetooth and lightning headphones already work without having to remove the jack. It seems more like the loss of an option.

I've been mentioning that for a while. It seems to fall on deaf ears.

However that said one leak I saw from everythingapplepro had what looked to be a speaker there (stereo) and although I don't particularly like the idea of removing the headphone jack I can at least get behind the idea of something else being in its place.

Will wait until Apple has upgraded bluetooth to 5 and hope they keep the headphone jack. Will wait until next year if the headphone jack is removed due to loss of innovation on Apple's part.

It was somewhere in the macOS Sierra forums on this site that someone found hints of Bluetooth 5 in there. So it's quite possible the iPhone 7 will have it.

Nope.

Rather have a louder external speaker beyond BoomSound. The iPhone 7 could truly be waterproofed with no time limit submerged. If it bothers you, just use the smaller and older iPhones as an iPod.

A 137mm in height iPhone isn't really convenient to jog around and listen to your tunes with headphones. Use something smaller and lighter. I have other phones with a headphone jack. Rarely use headphones on any of them unless to turn on FM radio.

Not a dealbreaker for me.

This would be the only reason I would accept for the removal of the headphone jack. It doesn't necessarily have to have no time limit for being submerged but needs to have some form of water resistance.

I'm more annoyed that I'm likely now going to need headphones for 3 different types of ports: standard headphone jack, USB-C and lightning.

The headphone jack to me was great because all of my devices have the same port, now I'll have devices with different ports. Hopefully there will be a new standard.

It would bother me if Apple does away w/it.

I don't know if it would be enough to make me switch to Android because of it, but I've not read a real compelling reason why it should go.

If it needs to go to make it easier to waterproof the iPhone, then ax the waterproofing. If the argument is that going to lightning connector would give us better sound because of DAC relocation, again...I'm not interested.

The 3.5" jack is good for several reasons:

- it is a defacto standard
- it delivers good sound (maybe not best but certainly more than adequate)
- I don't want to go BT because doing so means I now have to mind another device to charge

Technology, ideally... should mean less to manage, going forward. Doing away with the jack doesn't mean less to manage, hence I'm not a proponent of it going.

People bring up better water proofing but I have to say, I've never suffered water damage on a phone, but I use the headphone jack almost every day, so I definitely know which feature is more useful to me. Besides, other phones have been offering sufficient water proofing to guard against most likely scenarios while still having a headphone jack for years now.

Bothers me. I use the headphone jack extensively. I have an SE which I'm hopefully going to use for another 2 or 3 years, after that, I most likely won't be upgrading to a newer iPhone without a headphone jack.

Here(-ish)
Is anyone bothered the apparent lack of a headphone jack in the iPhone 7?
Not as much as people starting new thread after new thread to rehash the exact same topics:

I bolded the ones that seemed particularly pertinent to your question.

Honestly I wouldn't have even thought of myself wanting or needing a water resistant/waterproof phone until I read about the Galaxy S7/S7 edge offering it. I see a ton of benefits for me with this. Is it better than the headphone jack for me? Yes, but for a lot it probably would be better to keep the headphone jack.

I will commit suicide if this is true. I can hardly sleep at night.
Can we get an adult version?

Ye, I feel bad now, like I could have a better phone, actually I'm asking to change this iPhone 6S, srsly it looks garbage next to the Samsung S7 Edge. Sometimes people need to admit that iPhones aren't the best, they were, but right now Samsung ftw, and this next iPhone 7 in my opinion can't compete with the S7 Edge, you guys need to test the Samsung, it's like driving a Ford aka the iPhone and try a Ferrari aka the S7 by Samsung. No comparison

What exactly are the ton of benefits? Do you shower with your phone? Go swimming with it?

At the iPhone hacks section.
I wouldn't trade the headphone jack for water resistance.
But I know many others that are careless with their devices and this could save them a lot of money paying for out of warranty replacement fees.
