another question I have is about drivers for various things. when i tried to install windows 10 a while back on top of OC, I used the legancy install approach and had to hunt down the bootcamp drivers which I eventually found and got it all working. but doing it the native way...i presume I have to get actual native drivers for everything...or will win11 itself have all the needed drivers for: wifi, ethernet, audio, GPU (RX580), bluetooth (i upgraded the bluetooth board), etc. How does that work out when doing a native install of win11?

Check out my video, with the “Windows Install” app you can deactivate Windows ESP so if opencore doesn’t load first Windows won’t load. Macschrauber also has this deactivate script in his utilities in Martin Lo’s Opencore package that does the same function. I did have issues with the latest Windows 24H2 .ISO with my 5,1 CMP so I used tiny11 which worked. But my 6,1 had no issue with 24H2 still not sure what the prob is but some folks said 24H2 worked for them. 23H2 might be better for the 5,1 or tiny11. It's Never Been Easier! Install Windows in Mac OS! No BootCamp required.

Great info. A lot to absorb there, but that installer is amazing, 3 minutes and only needs 4gb? Makes me want to make a partition real quick and just give it a try. Anyway thanks for sharing.

one question for you about that video...I notice you referenced OCLP and wondering what things I need to do to configure OC in particular for any of this. I have used CDF's guide to do manual install of OC for running monterey and have been very happy with that and would prefer to continue with that so long as everything will be hunky dory with Win11, but if there are any particular additional things I need to manually add above and beyond CDF's guide would love to know...for example sounds like I need to do something related to the thing that blocks win11 from booting if OC fails for any reason? Or anything else...

I have install windows11, seems like completed but when reboot and select Windows OS found the error code:0xc0000001 and keep rebooting. Please help to advise, thank you.

Hi all !

I succeeded to install Windows 11 pro on my MBP 15" mid-2012 especially not using BootCamp, but using Windows Install instead.
I downloaded Tiny11 2311. Tiny11 is a modded version of Windows 11 designed to take up as little storage space as possible.
It's perfect !

Same successful installation on my cMP5,1.

At the moment, my only big issue ont both the MBP and cMP5,1 is that I don't have any outgoing sound. Any help to fix that ?

Thanks for reading !

Good news !
I have audio now on my cMP 5,1 after installing Realtek Audio driver R2 83 ! 🙏🏻
On the contrary, Bluetooth host adaptor : no driver for my Broadcom updated module 😥

So the 7,1 bluetooth drivers did not work for you? You have an upgraded card?

Try these:
P.S. I read in the signature - BT 4.2 BCM943602CDP and gave you drivers for it. Then I realized that you need drivers for Bluetooth 7.1 )))

Hi Folks Just rounding off a FRESH install of windows 11 pro x64 on my CMP 5,1,
using Win11_24H2_EnglishInternational_x64.iso, which I downloaded from the Microsoft site.
using Martins OC config version 1.0.1 installed on my OSX drive's EFI partition
https://forums.macrumors.com/attachments/opencore-1-0-1-zip.2408252/
then formatted the WHOLE windows SSD as fat32 GUID with Disk Utility.

I created my Win 11 Pro x64 install USB using Rufus as instructed here
https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/windows-11-on-mac-pro-5-1.2356603/post-31889224

Quick tip: when 11 asks for your activation key during install use your windows 10 key,
that's what i did and it gave me no issues at all.

other thing to note is if you have a WIN 10 home activation key, you will only be able to install WIN 11 home.
same deal with pro and enterprise editions you can only upgrade to win 11 from you current installed win 10 edition.

When I installed windows I did it via Martins OC boot picker which gave me the unexpected result
of putting the windows boot files in with the Apple boot files on my Mojave EFI partition,
instead of creating an EFI partition on my windows SSD,
so my windows is still booting via OC just from my Mojave EFI Partition,
and my Mojave SSD is in Bay 1 for faster booting.

E.G in my OSX EFI Partition I have the following folders

EFI/
Boot
OC
Apple
Windows

the only issue I am having is getting the mac keyboard multi media (sound adjust) and ROM drive eject keys to work.

other than that windows 11 is running WAY better than win 10 ever did.

Edit: as mentioned by others DO NOT INSTALL BOOT CAMP SUPPORT !!
it will give you constant blue screen at login screen,
only install the Bluetooth-keyboard and sound drivers.

Has anybody figured out the mac keyboard media keys issue yet ??

My issue is win 11 i can not manage to after install get into windows
I’ve tried using dism, windows install and normal (ruffus) install, all methodes i could find but nothing works (ps: it does not brick the mac pro, 1hdd macos+partition for oclp , 1hdd win11) windows is not creating the efi partition there is only one folder named boot that contains efi folder inside

Does anyone have any thoughts and or considerartions?
(Yes i need win11 for work, my imac 27” 2010 with s7100x bt4,1 works perfect)

Thank you!

did you install windows 11 via the OCPL boot picker ?

Also look at upgrading to SSD's your system will run much faster and boot quicker.

the only HDD i have in my cMP 5,1 is a 2 TB HDD in Bay 4 for storage of app installers and so forth
formatted as EXFat so MacOS and windows can both write to it.

found a quick fix for getting your Mac keyboard volume keys to work in win 11.
all i did was install apple software update then run it,
Still have to hold Fn key to use F1 to F11 but all i needed was the volume keys to work

I hope you backed up the firmware, before experimenting with various Windows installations.

Have you checked, if you got certificates? If not, you can use my Dumper (link in signature).

Signatures do not brick the Mac Pro instantly, but they wore out the firmware chip as they fill it with a large, not deletable junk variable, forcing garbage collection run more often than necessary.

how can i overcome this? how to make sure that windows is properly installed?

ps: dumb question I'm using the HDMI exit on the Vega 56 can that be the problem? i mean should i use one of the other 3 DisplayPort's?
