If iPad Pros weren’t such a hot mess (really), I’d agree with you. The thin obsession without a cooling solution fries the iPP internals and the ability to use touch. I tried again last week and many of the same issues I had on the 12.9 were right there on 10.5 (and worse, the pencil would not always work in Procreate).

Wow, it is that bad? I don't follow what's going on with the Pro, I guess there goes the 'what's a computer' question. If it is not a viable tool for artists, which one would suspect the Pro is almost designed for, then it bodes really bad for the company as a whole because they focus so much on iOS devices, neglecting 'real' computers in the process.

Yeah, seems like Apple kind of peed down their own leg a little. They began that whole “What’s a computer” kick with the iPad, but have thus far failed to deliver an iPad that is a viable computer alternative for most.

And now they bend too for at least 25% more money than the 2017 models.

When iPad PRos work, they're a wonderful tool for artists, but I've had nothing but trouble with the 2017 iPad Pros. I would only consider the new budget Mini or larger model if they have 3gb of ram. Otherwise, I'll just push toward a Wacom tablet since the Surface Laptop does all the non-art things, the Pro did.

The advantage of most modern art/drawing programs is that they have the same look and feel irrespective of the OS. If you start them you don't notice the difference anymore. Granted, the touch aspect maybe more prevalent in iOS, but for instance in a program like Affinity, you don't notice which OS you are using anymore. Basically you are only using Windows or iOS or macOS to start the program. After that it works the same on all platforms. As I said, the differences are not that vast ;)

Another valid point. Baby steps.

My older 9.7" Pro doesn't work that great either. It always had a random reboot issue that Apple has never been able to solve because of course, it will never do it on demand and never does it when you make a Genious Bar appointment. It also has coil whine or something. It makes a buzzing sound when you scroll and occasionally a high pitched whine. Sounds a little like an R2 Droid :)
