Tonight I am drinking Jack Daniels “charcoal Mellowed” Tennessee Whisky. A Christmas gift from my daughter’s boyfriend. (That lad sure knows a way to his daughter’s father’s heart!) (still don’t like him )

Great post - I enjoyed it and hope you enjoy your (gifted) whisky.

Dare one ask why you don't much care for the lad?

Not really a fan of champagne, but good luck to those who enjoy it.

Personally, I prefer a rich, robust red, (such as a Ripasso), or a good white Burgundy or Riesling.

Y'know, I'm not a big fan either. I've had tasty Champagne (clearly), but it's absolutely nowhere as good other fine wines. It lacks the complexity of regular wine, but I guess that's the point: it's for celebration—not contemplation. (The tannins associated with Champagne also slightly trigger my gag reflex.)

The Palmer was a great red. Although I prefer Burgundy over Bordeaux, this Bordeaux was old enough / well-aged. Full of sediment.
[doublepost=1546488345][/doublepost]Has anyone had Kilt Lifter? It's an Arizona beer. I just tried one over the holiday; it's fairly sweet, but it has a nice roasted taste and isn't too bitter.

Agree re the preference for Burgundy over Bordeaux, and I prefer a good white Burgundy, or proper Chateauneuf-du-Pape (or Ripasso) or St-Emilion to any Champagne.

Currently sipping the wonderful CBS from Founders.
