Off work early, to quote a commercial quoted in one of my favourite comic strips (Calvin and Hobbes) - “It’s Miller time”.

Actually it’s not it’s rather Docteur Gabs or whatever artisanal brew is on tap at the outdoor yurt bar.

Been out this afternoon with my mother and father for a lovely meal. Then with father to his local pub. Had 4 large Brockman’s gins with elderflower tonic water (Marvellous!)

And now for something completely different. At least for me.

Hibiscus cocktail.

It took most of the afternoon to make. :(

Looks amazing; what is in it?

1 cup simple syrup infused with one pineapple

Hibiscus flowers steeped in hot water

1 cup fresh squeezed lime juice

2 cups silver patron tequila

One jalapeños (with seeds) cut into small wheels

Toss in a few lime halves used to get the juice
(Alternatively, one unsqeezed lime cut into wheels)

Serve in a chilled glass with a pineapple slice (used to infuse the syrup) and a couple jalapeño wheels.

It’s a wonderfully refreshing tart hibiscus flavor with pineapple sweetness along with the heat and flavor of the jalapeño.

You got another crate of CBS!!!!?

:eek::eek::eek::eek:

Yes.

A full crate. Twenty four bottles.

To go with the twenty one bottles (I succumbed to temptation and consumed three bottles over the past two nights as anyone reading my posts here may have noticed), of CBS in another crate.

And a half crate of Curmudgeon's Better Half.

What is the dark Czech lager like?

I've had one or two over the years, and they have been excellent.
I enjoyed it, it’s fairly smooth like a lager, but with some bitter and toasty notes that round out the flavor (sometimes lagers can be very bland). In some sense it’s a lighter porter, but don’t let that turn you off...it was called La Noirceur.

Honestly I only really drink bitter when I’m in the UK (with occasional exception); I too love the style. But I’m not in the UK today...

It was a house brew, from Saint Houblon (Saint Hop) in Montreal. Surprisingly hoppy for an ESB, but still nicely balanced and quite tasty!

One of the more intriguing of the Achouffe brewery's offerings is the Houblon Chouffe beer (that stupid auto-correct altered the name of the beer twice before I could persuade it that, no, I wished to write what I wished to write).
