A few hours ago, I opened a bottle of wine from France. At present, it is breathing away happily to itself.

This is a glorious rich and robust red wine, made from the Grenache grape.

The wine is from Domaine Chamfort "C'est Beau Là-Haut", and is labelled Côtes du Rhône Villages (Séguret).

Gonna drink these tonight with a steak dinner for my daughter’s bday.

Trappistes Rochefort 8, a superb Belgian beer, a timeless classic.

I have been perusing the French wine range stocked by an award winning French restaurant I occasionally frequent (funds permitting), and must see if they stock such a wine.
Viognier is also a common grape in white Rhône blends, which are also delicious.

Actually, I really like Viognier, but hadn't known that it is used in white wines from the Rhône; re French wines, my eternal - and marked - preferences for the wines of Alsace (Riesling, but also Pinot Blanc, Pinot Gris and Gewürztraminer) and the stunning whites from Burgundy (invariably made from Chardonnay) which I adore, mean that I sometimes don't move out of my comfort zone half often enough to sample and savour other traditions.
