I remember drinking that last Christmas on a visit to Manchester. Very nice beer.
Every now and again you get a truly beautiful bottle of wine. Tonight I'm enjoying a lovely bottle of Australian Cabernet Sauvignon. Absolutely Marvellous!
Whenever I can make it to the UK will keep an eye out for that. This past weekend enjoyed a Punk IPA, and a Cuvee des Trolls.
They certainly did! First from a Scottish brewery, second a strong Belgian blond.

A local supermarket with a very well stocked - and improving - beer section (ever since Covid struck); the owner is open to suggestions (today, from behind a mask, I was attempting to extol the virtues of St Bernardus - with the a/c and my mask, and his mask, and stupid predictive spelling, he misspelled it on his phone when trying find out more, but I had an idea that Belgian beers could be sourced, as I had spotted a few bottles of Duvel on the shelves).
Tonight’s pale ale. Not that great.
I think that "session" ales (and beers) tend to work better in summer.
Autumn and winter seem to call for something more contemplative (and perhaps also something a bit more robust).
