Just bottled 3 gallons worth of heavily dry-hopped pale ale that I brewed roughly 3 weeks ago. After carbonation we are looking at around 6.5% expected ABV. Hopped with Dr. Rudi (NZ), Wai-iti (NZ) and Citra (US).

Let's see how it turns out. Taste was amazing even when flat - notes include grapefruit, peach and lime.

This Friday sticking with beer from Valais, normally known for wine, but a lager and on the opposite side of the lake at a lakeside terrace. I have a bottle of red wine at home I should do something with this weekend I forget what it was. 🙃

What a lovely way to start the week-end.

So the wine is an Italian red "Salice Salentino" reserve from Vecchia Torre. Saving it to drink with friends with a meal. Now currently imbibing at home a Lindemans Kriek cherry lambic. Perfect for summer - done my groceries and will head out soon.

Excellent choice - a beer that I started to really appreciate only at later age. The way lambic is made is truly fascinating.

We have an espresso thread so I figured and that we needed one for both wine and beer drinkers here. Where do you like drinking? Any recommendations?

A wine and beer thread is always necessary! I'm more of a wine drinker, but I love drinking at my local pub (www.thecricketersinn.com) and it only feels right to drink beer! Anywhere else, I'd always go for a glass of Sauvignon Blanc but at the pub it'll always be beer :)

A decade ago during trips to the NE US, Yuengling Beer from the oldest brewery in the States was one of my favorite beers. Yesterday I walked into my local grocery (HEB) and there it was sitting in the refrigerated beer section. I pounced! Hmm, good. :D

It has been a few weeks already without Meursault, I kept it for a special occasion.

They say that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery; Thus, with that in mind, I, also, reserve the exquisite joys of savouring Meursault for special occasions.

However, I have never had it with pasta; instead, I tend to consume it with fish (flat fish - such as, turbot, brill, plaice, sole), or shellfish/crustaceans such as crab, prawns and/or shrimp.

You are making me hungry!
Agreed.

Seafood platter with a flabbergasting Chassagne, silk and harmonious. Delicious and complex, truly a beautiful Chassagne. I’m in heaven.

I am not surprised when you write that you are in Heaven. I wish I could join you.

This looks absolutely stunning and utterly mouth-watering.

Enjoy your Chassagne - superb choice.

And I used to be able to get wild caught prawns locally, but haven't seen them in a few years.

I was on a cruise to Italy, and they had an excursion to 'see the city' we were in, and one part of the trip was 'lunch'. It was a seafood paella, and it was interesting. The next excursion was an on-ship 'Italian Eating Experience'. We arrived, and sat around for a while waiting, sipping wine and eating 'Mediterranean snacks'. For a HUGE seafood paella, with so much seafood I didn't think I could eat it all. After the in country sample,, it unfortunately paled in comparison to the wonderful spread the ship's cooks provided. We all gorged on the magnificence and left waddling down the halls to beach ourselves... I never have wanted to move to a country more than to Italy at that point. Just YUM!!! And the wine they chose was perfect, and plentiful, sadly. It took up room for more paella. We did our best, but there was quite a bit left, that I hope went to good use, feeding some of the crew, officers, or *someone*. What a trip. Pre-pandemic blissfully ignorant of the mess that would engulf Italy just a few years later.

Prawns... Wine... 😍😋🤤
