Ah, sigh.

Actually, I don't just like, nay love, Burgundy wines - in truth, I adore them.

Thank you for thinking of me - this looks as though it would be something well worth pursuing.

Tonight was special.

Charles H Grande Cuvée (it has a special place in my heart because it used to be the one they served on Singapore Airlines), then Perrier-Jouët, then a wonderful Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Folatières and because that was not enough…a flabbergasting Meursault 1er Cru Gennevrières.

OMG. I’m so blessed they do such amazing wine in France. I just wish more people would be able to just try it. Amazing.

Gorgeous selection.

Absolutely gorgeous selection, a selection that includes some of my own favourites.

Do enjoy.

Sipping a glass of Chianti myself.

I read somewhere that half the enjoyment of a good wine comes from the experience at the time. I can attest to that. Back in 1973, when I worked in a stereo shop in Toronto, we were often taken out to dinner by McIntosh, a high end audio manufacturer. They plied us with all kinds of good wine. That is when I learned to enjoy the finer wines of France. On my wife's 25 birthday, we went out to dinner at the stuffiest restaurant in Toronto, called Wellingtons. 2 Couples, all very young with long hair. We got very mediocre service by the waiters with their noses up in the air, until they asked what we wanted to drink, and I said we wanted a $150 bottle of 1967 Chateau Lafitte Rothschild. I wish I had an iPhone then to get a picture of the look on his face. Immediately several other waiters came over and straighten the silverware and decanted the wine. It was faaantastic, but the experience was definitely a major part of the evening and the pleasure of the wine. An evening I will never forget to this day.

Love some beer, particularly New England IPA, Belgian styles, and German styles, but have been trying to keep sugar intake lower, so I drink dry red wine or whiskey more often.

My top Cabernets are 1) Juggernaut Hillside, 2) Joel Gott 815, and 3) H3. I regularly try others, but keep coming back to these as regulars.

These days, if I have beer, it’s when I can get ahold of the world class stuff. Most often when I can get Treehouse.

Cheers!
