I have some Westmalle Trappist Tripel. Might be a silly question but do you chill in fridge before drinking or drink at room temperature?
I drink them - consume them, sip and savour them - at room temperature.
The beers are stored in the laundry room, which is nice and cool; however, as with white wines, I think that the fridge kills - numbs - masks - whatever flavour they have, hence, in general, I do not store beers (or wines) in the fridge.
This is becasue the flavour profile of the Trappist is so complex and subtle that you need it at roughly room temperature - nice and cool but not numbed into insensibility - in order to be able to appreciate them fully.
Now, during a hot spell (yes, this is north west Europe), I will put standard lagers, and some white wines, (the sort of easy drinking white wines that go well with summer, nothing too complex) into the fridge before serving them. Not otherwise.
