Not wine or beer, but a marketing person gave me a small bottle of Metallica blackened, and I was surprised how smooth it was.

I've been coming to this site a bit over a year and just noticed this thread. I love wine along with my wife. The challenge we like most about wine is to find everyday drinking wines under $15. We like Reds mostly (Merlot, Red blends, Zinfandel (red) , Spanish reds, Washington red (Walla Walla), etc).

Some good everyday drinking wines:
--Mondovi Bourbon barrel Merlot and Blend
--1000 stories Bourbon barrel blend
---H3 and Columbia Crest.
---Kendall Jackson Red blend.
---Coppola Merlot and Claret
---Sheghesio Zins

These are just a few.

However our "special occasion" favorites:

---Northstar Merlot and blend
---O'shaughenessy Cab
---Silverado Merlot
---Paraduxx red blend
---Heitz cellars
---Staggs' leap petite syrah
---Frog's leap Zinfidel
---Sheghesio Zins

These days, not one of the wines you have mentioned will be found on store shelves in Europe, either in supermarkets, off licences, or, for that matter, in specialist wine shops.

Nowadays, from the New World, you will find Chilean wines, Australian wines, and wines from New Zealand and South Africa, but you will never seem to see wines from the US.

I would imagine you get Spanish and Italian wines?
Like Ontonon, Cune’, Ruffino and the like?

Well, as I'm in Europe, sourcing wine from Europe is not difficult.

French, Italian, Spanish wines are all readily available, as are those from Germany, and Austria.

Portuguese wines are also widely available; for wines further east, (such as Croatia, Slovenia - both of which produce some excellent wines, or Bulgaria or Romania) sometimes you need either very good supermarkets, or to travel to the country where the wine is produced.

Georgian wine (Caucasus Georgia, that is), is still readily available across the countries that comprised the former Soviet Union, but is not widely available in western Europe.
