I've decided to get a friend a bigger birthday present (a bottle of barrel-aged Imperial Stout). While I was at it, I also got myself two barrel-aged presents (a Rusty Nail 2022 and a Koopa Gets Salty). The Rare Beer Cellar is dangerously interesting for people like us.
I like - and can relate all too well to - that eloquent and expressive description of an enticing place that is far too "dangerously interesting".

As did the pint of La Trappe beer I had tonight.
Wonderful.

I haven't had La Trappe for ages, but it is an excellent beer.

Last night's glass of Riesling turned out to be a bottle of excellent German Riesling, (with that wonderful - yet weird - whiff of petroleum, which is a mark, or signifier, of a good Riesling) shared with an academic friend, in a small, cosy, wine-bar, where we had a very good - and enjoyable - chat.

Bought twelve bottles of Korbinian (a superb beer brewed by the Bavarian brewery Weihenstephaner) yesterday and (devoutly) hope that they will be delivered in the fairly near future.

Enjoyed two glorious (and awfully welcome) beers from Weihenstephaner last night:

The first was a bottle of their classic Hefe Weissbier, and the second, a bottle of their Hefeweissbier Dunkel, served in appropriate glassware, naturally.

In Lower Saxony, the mulled wine season has begun. From tomorrow, I’ll probably have to drink a handful of stouts until Monday. ;)

I’ve found another shop that stocks the legendary Korbinian. Maybe I’ll manage to pop in there next week. I’ll report back.

Mulled wine sounds amazing.

This is the season for it.

Do enjoy.

Good luck and I look forward to reading your report.

Enjoying the last barrel-aged stout from my fridge. “Aged 36 months in Elijah Craig 19 Year & BLiS Maple bourbon barrels with salted caramel”, the brewery said. Chocolate toffee and notes of rum.
