I had for the first time, St. Bernardus Wit-beer last night and I have to say it was rather good. I had a few of them. I found a new local spot that has some really good food and nice little selection of Belgium beer on hand. I also had a Gulden Draak which was most excellent.

To top the night off we met some friends at a location that had Rasputin Imperial Stout on tap. It was a good night.

Gulden Draak and the St Bernardus Wit are both 'rather good', indeed, they are both a good bit better than 'rather good'. One of the things I like about the Best of the Belgian beers is the perfect balance that you find when drinking them; they are smooth, and easy. Soft, and rich, beautifully balanced and lovely drinking.

Wells Fargo said I needed to switch away from the Rochefort 10 to gin...at least through the heat of the summer. When the dull grays and browns and the cold air of Autumn returns I'll buy it again, Wells permitting.

Wells Fargo? I'm not from the US so the reference passes me by. Is it a bank? Or a sublime and as yet unknown and unheard of form of alcohol?

Enjoy your gin, but I'll readily admit that spirits are not really my favourite choice of tipple, and I rarely touch them.

Couldn't have said it better. They were soooo good.

We drank a bottle of Chateauneuf-du-Pape, Domaine Guiliani (bottled in the chateau) with dinner, and it was an excellent, smooth, soft, rich and exceedingly elegant red wine.

We are not big wine drinkers but we do like this particular wine, Twisted Wine's Moscato. Especially during the summer as it is pretty light and crisp. Again we are not big wine drinkers, but this one is pretty darn good.

What is its provenance, and where has it been produced, as it is not one I have heard of?

Personally, I quite like wine, and drink it quite a bit, but most of all I like wine paired with good food and sipped in congenial company….

It is a California wine and from their site; This Moscato is a lively twist on your everyday white wine. This enchanting refresher offers up a swirl of citrus blossom, honeysuckle and honeydew melon on the nose, complemented by flavors of white peach, orange blossom and sweet nectar.

It is one that usually costs under $10.00 on sale but we like the flavor.

Enjoying a refreshing chilled St Bernardus Wit tonight while relaxing on my deck prior to organizing dinner.....

I just had this one for the first time a few days ago (mentioned it in this thread). I was super impressed with this, excellent flavor and very clean tasting. Big ole thumbs up for me!

A lovely classy summer beer. As I have written elsewhere on these fora, I am a big fan of the entire St Bernardus range, not least their capacity to strike a note of consistent high quality.

Well, here, I must own to a lingering prejudice from the past, which is that I know little about Californian wines, a prejudice which dates from my student days when they were a by-word for bland forgettable wines with neither character nor class.

Doubtless, things have changed, and I have no quarrel with some of the New World wines that I know to be excellent (some of the good Chilean reserves come to mind, as do some of the better offerings from NZ).

Anyway, glad to hear that you are enjoying it.

Haha... Well to be fair, I know very little about wines in general. Doesn't stop us from exploring and drinking them though!

Either tomorrow or the next day I need to make a run to the "beer store," i.e., Total Wine and Beverage, because my stock is greatly depleted now. I'll definitely be picking up more St Bernardus Wit (just perfect for summer's warm tempertures!) and also the darker, heavier ales as well -- the ABT 12......and of course as well including my favorite Trappiste Rochefort (I hope the store has plentiful stock; last time they were out of one, I think it was the Rochefort 6). Since I've spent the last little while tasting various and sundry "craft" beers and such, too, and made notes about which I really liked and which were OK but to which I was indifferent, I'll be again picking up a few of those that I most enjoyed, too, for appreciation over this next warm month and beyond.

The Total Wine by our house is freaking killer! It just opened up and my first time in one was a few weeks ago. OH MY! I was in beer heaven!

Total Wine and More is an awesome place. It's kind of like making a trip to Mecca :)

From the enthusiastic tone of pure unalloyed delight in your posts, I can only conclude that this is a rather good wine store.

Well, long may you continue to enjoy it.
