I have never had the white, let me know what you think of it. The reds I have enjoyed a long time.

An excellent, mineral, steely, yet a full and balanced (wine) with considerable depth - acidic, yet a full and fruity - wine. An excellent summer wine; good for solo drinking, or with food, or for shooting the breeze with compadres…...

If you can find it, and the style is something you would like, I highly recommend Stone Brewery's wOOtstout 3.0. I have had 1, 2, and 3. They are all very good and very strong stouts. In fact I still have a 2.0 version in my beer cellar .

Which one are you sipping on? I really like their golden ale and their take on the christmas brown beer. I haven't been able to track down any of their other offerings.

The La Chouffe is their classic 'blond beer' (and clocks in at 8%), a nice, smooth easy drink.

As it happens, my clear is also currently playing host to a few of their delightful 'Houblon Chouffe' beers as well, and - if their label is to be believed - they are a 'Dobbelin IPA Triple'.

For once, I didn't fancy one of my gorgeous, rich, luscious quadruples, those splendid porters that I normally like. Tonight, I realised that I wanted something robust, yet somewhat crisper.

It is. A lovely clean elegant beer.

Anyway, as a reminder, I have now graduated to the other offering from the Chouffe stable in my well stocked cellar, a beer called 'Houblon Chouffe'. This - as mentioned above - is a 'Dubbelen IPA Tripel'; the lovely little goblin on the label has a red checked pattern on his trousers, as he bends down to examine the growth of the hops. (By the way, the labels on the entire Chouffe range are utterly charming and quite delightfully irresistible.)

This is a somewhat more hefty beer, with dry notes, depth, and a crisp dry finish.

Ah, I love the use of that verb 'to find', when written in sentences such as: "I found these beers".

Like myself, @Happybunny, while the acting of 'finding' may come as a delighted discovery, there is also the irrefutable fact that we both bought these delights once upon a time…….there was an act of acquisition and agency, before the voyage to the cellar of exploration and discovery.

Anyway, enjoy your discoveries. I expect that I shall embark upon my own voyage of exploration and discovery later this evening…..

This evening I am sipping a Chablis, a superb premier Cru, which is perfectly balanced, a wine where depth, acidity and sweetness all fuse perfectly.

And tonight, with dinner, we drank an excellent (indeed, an award winning) bottle of Côtes du Rhone Villages.

This was a bottle that I had opened about an hour and a half before dinner, in order to allow it to breathe a bit. It was very nice with dinner, but still just a little bit of lingering sharpness that surprised me.

However, my brother and I left around half of the bottle for a further hour and then finished it with cheese. By the time we had it with (French) cheese - (aged Comte, Blue d'Auvergne, Brie), the wine was velvet, smooth, rich, mellow and quite delicious.

Had the pleasure of trying Lost Abbey's Witch's Wit..... Was actually really good. And I had it on tap to boot! I can highly recommend this one to those who like the Belgium Whitbier style of beer.
