but, are you planning to add the low power mode to the running trainings? That famous 60 hours of battery with Fewer GPS and Heart Rate Readings.

This mode is very useless in my opinion. The only reason maybe
I am still struggling with current pace. Over the past week I did several runs with the WatchOS native app (for calibration) and was absolutely impressed by the accuracy and stability of the current pace.
Then I thought in WOD this must be equivalent has to be health system pace. But when I select this source without smoothing it is just jumping arround erratic and useless. Isn't there a way to take over apples current pace value 1:1 (smoothed like it is in the native app)?

Yes with health I get the same useless metrics. Put WOD on Pedometer, then it is good.

Some weeks ago there are many threads from me about this topic 🤪

The Health option uses Apple's new Running Pace metric, so make sure that you have given the app all the Health permissions in the Settings app (Privacy / Health / WorkOutDoors).

My assumption is that it is the same as the current pace that Apple use in their app but I don't know for sure.

There seems disagreement as to whether the Pedometer or Health options are better, so maybe you will prefer the pedometer.

Now that watchOS 9.2 has been released I have released the latest version of WOD to the App Store. It supports the Action Button, but make sure that you update to watchOS 9.2 first otherwise the button will stop working if you reboot the watch.

As usual I have used a "phased release", which means that users who have auto-update enabled will get it gradually over the next week. Only 1% of such users will get it today, then 2% tomorrow, 5% the day after etc.

You can manually update by going to the App Store. The UK store is now showing it, so hopefully it will be available in other countries as well.

Thanks to Apple for reviewing the app so quickly!

@Mauki thanks, I have followed up on that posts (maybe even commented, don't remember 😂). Pedometer was my latest default before yesterdays run.

@cfc all permissions are set and I get pace values, but my "hope" was, that it would be as smooth and stable as in the native run app. Seems like apple is applying a really good smotthing algorithm in their own app while providing the unfiltered instant pace readings to 3rd party apps. In my next run I will set smoothing to max but still keep health as source - just to try it.

Hi 76, thanks to tell us your feedback with the smooth 😉

I updated watch and iPhone to latest version but cannot find WOD in the action button app list.
Rebooted both devices already.
Is there some kind of trick or a setting I am missing?

I have forgotten all about that. 😆🤪

This is my setting and it is ok for me.

Have you updated WOD to v4.8? I released it today now that watchOS 9.2 has been released.

If you can't see it yet on the App Store then wait a while as it can take some time to get through Apple's systems.

Yes, I first updated the iphone to 16.2 then the watch to 9.2 and then finally WOD to 4.8.
But no WOD in the action button settings...

Have you set the Action option to "Workout"? Then WOD should appear in the options for the "App".

Have you run the app since installing it? That may be necessary.

If that doesn't work then try rebooting both devices. Also it is worth checking both the phone and the watch settings in case it is not appearing in one but is appearing in the other.

I found out, that the WOD app on the watch did not update! In the phone it is 4.8 and on the watch 4.7.
What can I do? Don't want to loose all my customizations.

Hi,
here the same: iOS 16.2, watchOS 9.2, WOD 4.8.8 on iPhone 14 Pro, WOD 4.7 on Ultra.
Rebooted both devices, set Workout, but only Apple Workout app selectable.

What I noticed: the update process in the App Store did not take a second, I have never experienced this before.

Try installing it from the App Store app on the watch.

For that you have to delete it first. Will all individual settings be lost?
I didn't know that. I thought updating from the App Store on the watch just overwrote the app but kept the settings. I could be wrong though.

If you do lose the Settings then go to the Settings tab on the iPhone app and tap "File Management" then "Send Yesterday's Watch Settings" and (if necessary) "Send Screens to Watch" and "Send Interval Schedules to Watch".

After "reinstalling" WOD from within the watch app on the Phone it works fine! Thanks!
Glad it is working. Reinstalling like that usually loses the data on the watch though, so you may need to re-send the settings via the File Management screen. Generally it is better to use the App Store on the watch.

I didn't delete WOD on Apple Watch to reinstall. This is what I did:

1. Open the App Store on the Apple Watch and scroll down to the bottom
2. Tap Account
3. Tap Updates
4. Tap Update next to WOD to update
5. If it doesn't show any update for WOD then go back to Account and tap Purchased
6. Look for WOD and tap on it
7. Once you are inside WOD, it will show an Update button, just tap on it to update to v4.8

@cfc, when I pressed the Action Button, how come it went straight to Running? Can I select other activities like Walking or Hiking?

That is the best way to update the watch app - by using the App Store app on the watch.

You should be able to change the activity by going to Apple's Settings app and tapping Action Button and then First Press. By default it shows Run but the other activities should also be available as options.

Just downloaded the newest version and used it for my lunch run.
Indeed best to do a check on the Apple Watch ultra directly if the latest version is installed, in my case iPhone installed the latest one but not the AWU so the manual check was the way to go :)

It's REALLY great ! Thought it would be nice to have but now I even wonder how I did before.

Thanks for the quick reaction directly after watch os 9.2 !

This doesn‘t work. Point 7 did not show an Update Button 😞

I suspect that the watch app will need to be updated separately. I still haven't worked out why this is sometimes necessary and sometimes not necessary. It will be interesting to see if the auto-updates also update the watch app.

Maybe it hasn't got to the App Store in your country yet. Does it say v4.8 for step 6?

If it does show 4.8 then check if you already have 4.8 on the watch. To do that go to the Settings in the WOD watch app and tap More and scroll to the bottom where it shows the version number. The previous version was 4.7.0 and the latest version is 4.8.8.
