I left the house to run and I didn’t have my iPhone on me (I do everything from the watch).

I picked what I thought was the right interval run and started. Unfortunately I chose wrong and had to hold the intervals in my head.

Am I correct that you can’t review the parameters (like time of each step) from WOD on the watch ?

If so could this be added to the enhancement list ?
You can see the interval types (e.g. "Warm Up", 10 x ("Fast", "Slow"), "Cool Down") in the summary rows when choosing a schedule, but it doesn't show the details for each interval. I may add that in the future, but no-one has ever asked for it before.

It wouldn't have helped you in this situation but you can see the interval details during a workout by configuring a screen with the appropriate metrics (e.g. interval duration, interval target high/low etc).

Hi @cfc,

I just bought apple watch (first time user) and preparing for half marathon.

I was wondering is there a way to implement someone's training program for the half marathon (schedules) and if yes where can i find those?

Thank you.

I don't think there is an automatic way to upload a full program into WorkOutDoors but you can certainly add them one session at a time. I like creating my workout sessions on a Sunday evening for the coming week as I find that when I create each one I am paying attention to what my coach is asking me to do. Once you understand how to construct one you will find they are easy to build by duplicating a similar one from the past and tweaking it for the specific session.

I just downloaded the app, but I already love it!

I read that you're working on the AOD implementation, which is great. I want to use the app for rowing and during the stroke I cannot twist my wrist (or I mess up the stroke), so the AOD is crucial.

Maybe another request: in rowing we measure pace over 500m. That's just the standard. It would be great if that could be added at some point. A workaround for now I think is to take the 500m rolling pace.

Pace per 500m for rowing (and per 100m for swimming) is on my to-do list, but not high up the list at the moment. It will rise up as a result of your request though.

You know when it says your back home can that be updated so you have to travel a certain distance from home?
Quite often it comes up while i’m getting my bike ready and i haven’t left home.

No-one has ever mentioned that before. It should not activate until you have travelled at least 500m from the start.

Do you wait for a strong GPS signal before starting (5 blue bars in the top left)? If not and there is a poor GPS signal when you start then that could cause problems.

I ran intervals today (30-20-10) and am absolutely not happy with the AWU and WOD.

The operation of WOD for intervals is not workable and the recorded times can not be correct.

What WOD shows me for the 10 second sections is much too fast and at Tempo for runners I get completely different times which can also not be correct but are more realistic.

I am very disappointed.

If this was based on GPS data, my hypothesis is that for such short distances, GPS is not good enough.
Assume a GPS recording every one second, you have only few measurements. Each of them with a significant deviation. As shorter the time recorded is, the higher the deviation is.
Also, I assume there were rounding errors when distance is only based on two digits.

Just my 2c.

@NME42
So with my Garmin Fenix 3 the records were also made only with GPS and you have to keep in mind that the Fenix is from 2015. The GPS of the AWU is another league like that of the Fenix 3 and I expect somewhat better values.

@Mauki , the results from WOD do not look strange for me. Well within an expected range.
What is the tool you use in the other three screenshots? Might be a problem how this interprets interval data.

This is the App "Tempo for runners". A cool app but the values are not correct. Seems like it shows me the values from 20 sec at 10 sec.

As others have said, 10 second intervals are so short that there can be inaccuracies due to the sensors taking a while to adjust to the sudden changes in pace. Are you using Apple or GPS for the Pace & Distance settings?

Out of interest, I checked an old run I recorded with my Garmin Forerunner 935, also a HIIT 30-20-10 and even though the 935 was the most precise Garmin I had, the 10 second intervals also deviate quite a lot:

If you send me the wkt file I will take a look. To do this tap the Export button 3 times quickly.

However I suspect that it is just because the intervals are so short and involve sudden changes in pace. There is probably nothing the app can do about it.

Hi, I have a little problem and hopefully someone knows the solution :)
I'm running pre programmed interval schedules. I've set the screens I like to have and it worked for a few years.
However now the set screens doesn't show. Instead the default Running screens show though I have other set screens in set in my pre programmed interval schedules. Anyone know have to change it back so I can see my pre programmed interval screens?

Try going to the Settings tab on the iPhone app and tapping File Management and then Send Screens to Watch.

Thanks, I tried that now. Something happend, first all inteval schedules was gone. I restarted the watch. Now they're back again but still the same problem :(

Out of technical curiosity: I assume, the AW is fetching GPS position once a second. Right?
From an app perspective, if you ask the watchOS subsystem (whatever its name is) at a higher rate (e.g. every half second), you receive the same coordinates? Or does pedometer do some magic in between?

Try rebooting the phone as well and then resending. If that doesn't work then watchOS or iOS have got seriously confused and you may need to unpair the watch from the phone and re-pair it.

However it is worth waiting a few hours before resorting to that because often the lack of communication is because another app is sending a very large data file and WOD has to wait.

Apps can't control the GPS update frequency. They just ask for location updates and watchOS supplies them once a second.
