I cannot seem to find this in the WOD app (workout review on iphone after using apple watch to log runs), not sure if it's hidden somewhere (I also use healthfit but cannot find similar functions there) - is there a way to check out:
1/is there a way to mark the lap numbers on the map, pinning where each 1km (or whatever the lap length is) on the map
2/is there a way to check out more details for a specific lap/interval? i.e. for a 1 min interval run, I want to see the pace, HR, power, cadence evolution within that one minute

You can analyse the laps by using the right button to change the view from "Map" to "Laps". The data shown varies according to the selected tab (e.g. Pace, Elevation, Heart etc) and also according to the selection in the left hand button (e.g. for the Heart tab you have options to see BPM, Intensity, Zone etc).

You can't see lap markers on the map at the moment but I will probably add them at some time in the future. However laps (or intervals) are shown as dotted lines on the profile below the map when viewing lap data. If you swipe your finger along the profile then you can see whereabouts on the map each lap starts. This is easier if you change to see "Map & Profiles", which shows 5 rows of profiles, so you can be more precise.

I’m using AUW as the only run sensor. Saw that the “power” says requires watchOS 9, which my AWU has. But still cannot get any data throughout the run (during running or in workout summary). Is there any other tweaks needed?

EDIT: Ah, I saw that some health data permission were not given in iphone settings. Solved.

Hi,
I tried for the first time to follow a GPX' s file with my Mtb and please 🙏🙏add quickly the Always On function 🤣🤣
It' s very difficult without this function.
So take your time but it' s very necessary if you want to use an Aplle Watch for this.
Thanks a lot for what you have already done and the futur update 💪💪

I know it was mentioned here before but I have no way to find it ...

What freeware apps are recommended for generating GPX for WOD routes ?

GPX files are the standard way to represent a route so there are thousands of places to get them online. You can usually find a website with a GPX file for any well known route by Googling the name of the route along with "GPX". For example a website for a particular trail will usually have a GPX file for it.

Try to get a GPX file which includes elevations because WorkOutDoors then colours the route in different shades of purple to indicate the gradient: from red for steep uphill to blue for steep downhill.

There are many websites that offer lots of GPX files, and some also offer the ability to manually create them:

There are also many websites and apps that allow you to create GPX files manually, such as Footpath, EasyRoute, MapOut and PlotARoute:

Used the app today for first time, had some early issues with the permissions to show pace and cadence that I think I already solved, but what I can’t figure out is why I don’t see north compass (compass to star point works ok).

Any idea what can I be doing wrong?

Have you double tapped the red compass? That toggles whether or not it is visible. Double tap in the bottom right of the map again to make it reappear, or go to the Map settings.

I had it enabled on the options but never saw a red compass. Funny thing is, if I double tap as you suggests, it doesn’t e, but I see the setting changes is I go to settings.

Any weird software glitch like that I would try to close the app completely meaning closing it from running in the background and then opening it again. If that doesn’t work, restart the watch.

That is strange. I haven't heard of that before. As @vapilot says, a reboot can often fix strange bugs.

Hello Ian,

After today's hike I was stupid enough to have forgotten to stop the Hiking workout before getting into my car and only realized it a few km down the highway.

As a result, WOD logged those extra 4-5 km that I did while driving as Hiking and now my entire hike is unreasonably long - and a combination of hiking and driving?! I fear some other metrics also got messed up in the process, so I'm quite annoyed to have the workout with incorrect distance (and possibly some other wrong estimates, such as pace?) saved in WOD. I keep all my hikes saved in WOD, as I often like to go back to my previous hikes to compare time, distance and other metrics, so is there anything that could be done to trim this workout (i.e. remove the last part that was recorded while driving) to keep the "real" workout there?

I would've hoped the app to be smart enough to stop the workout when clearly you're not walking anymore, but apparently not?? :( Apparently Apple's Fitness app did only log the part without driving though, but in WOD everything has been logged up until I pressed the Stop button to finish the workout.

Settings - Alerts - Hiking Alerts - End Detection; Possibly Travelling Home - alert enabled - 20 km/h - end workout - save

As @MaxSto says there are a couple of end detection alerts that may help: "Back to Start" and "Possibly Travelling Home".

By default they will warn you, and you can then decide if you should end the workout, but you can configure them to automatically end the workout.

Thanks for that @MaxSto and @cfc, didn't know those settings existed! What if you then set the "Possibly traveling home" to end the workout if exceeding 20 km/h and there were a momentary glitch during the workout where it would erroneously log your speed exceeding 20 km/h... would that trigger WOD to mistakenly end the workout or will it only end the workout when 20 km/h or more takes place for at least a min or so?

It relies on GPS speed because that is available for all outdoor activities. No-one has reported it accidentally ending a workout but I don't know how many people use it.

Hi,
I would like to now if it’s possible to have the total amont of ascent i did in a specific sport per month or per year? The only way i have found is to take each activity separately and add them together.
Thanks and greetings from Switzerland. :)

Unfortunately not. You can see totals for distance, time, pace, heart rate, calories etc but not ascent. Unfortunately it would be a lot of work to add it because of a poor design decision I made in the early days of the app. Sorry about that. Maybe one day.

Ok I understand.

Thank you and congratulations for this app, it is great!

Is there actually a way to automatically activate a key lock for a specific workout?

When I'm at Crossfit training, it often happens that my arm or glove presses on the crown and activates Siri. I do not want that.

I also don't want to wear the watch the other way around, because then the action button would be affected. That is even more sensitive.

Unfortunately watchOS controls what happens when the side buttons are pressed individually.

The only control the app has is if it engages the full water lock, which disables everything. If that is what you want then you could engage it at the beginning of a workout by going to Settings then Commands then tap Water Lock. Or set up a gesture shortcut to engage it.

I use Workoutdoors for running with my Apple Watch Ultra. I generally have apple watch podcast on along with Woroutdoors during my runs. I recently noticed a strange issue with the audio notifications. Sometimes the audio notifications within Workoutdoors would not work for the running session but the podcast audio remains fine. Even after ending the workout session and stating a new one does not have audio. The only fix I have found was to force close and restart the workoutdoors app on apple watch to get audio alerts to play again. Anyone else experiencing this?

Also, on another topic, Ian, is there any timeframe on when the Always on display maybe available?

The audio interaction with other apps is controlled by watchOS so it may be worth rebooting the watch to see if that helps.

I am still working on the always on display. I am currently changing the design of the parts of it that I thought needed improving, which is why it is taking a while. The summary screen on the watch at the end of a workout is now very different and I am rewriting the start screens to be more consistent (and to get a lock on the heart rate before a workout).

Sorry it is taking a while but I didn't want to rewrite those screens exactly as before and then rewrite them again in the future, so now seemed to be the best time to do it.
