Hi,
I noticed that when I use an interval in the interval schedule mode (interval set on the phone or using Fixed Length on the watch) when I finish the workout the data sent to Strava is with interval/split (1 km in my case) set correctly, but the data sent to Health/Fitness Apple App not have the same interval/split data but only one huge interval.

Eg.: I set a 16k interval on the phone o I use a 16k fixed length on the watch. On Strava I see data for every 1k laps ( speed, time..) but on the apple fitness app I can't see no interval/split.
I haven't got around to saving intervals to Apple's Health system. They added them long after I added them to the app. I will probably do it when I next revisit the interval functionality (to add import/export), but that won't be for some time. Sorry about that.

hello, is there any support for the CORE BODY temperature sensor? Could it be added as a data field?

Thanks

The app does not support body temperature sensors at the moment. I may add that in the future when I next revisit the sensor functionality, but that won’t be for quite some time because other features are currently higher priority (e.g. navigation, custom activity types, schedule import/export).

Sorry about that.

Would it be possible to be able to enter 25m lengths in the schedule when swimming in a pool? Now it goes from 0.01, 0.02 to 0.03 km. Or make it so, that the distance entered in the schedule is a multiple of the pool length instead of a given distance in km?

Hi I understand WatchOS 11 is going to add apples 'check in' safety feature. I know live tracking is often requested and wondered if that was something that could be included as an option when starting a workout?

No-one has asked for that before but the interval schedules are admittedly not tailored well for pool swimming. It is such a different activity to all the others.

I will add it to my to-do list but it will be low down the list. Sorry about that.

I don't know if the check-in feature is available to third-party apps. I can't remember seeing anything about it at WWDC and can't see much information on it with a quick Google now.

I will probably wait until after watchOS 11 is released and see what the situation is then.

Thank you for the explanation.

I upload directly from the WorkOutDoors and it is the default FIT.

So if I want Strava and the reported distance on the watch to be aligned, I would need to set the Distance & Average Pace Source to GPS instead of Apple. Correct?
I would trust Apple's distance over GPS calculated distance. My Apple Watch hits dead on the mile marks on certified courses. Something no other watch I've ever owned has done. At most, it will be +/-10 feet on each marker and doesn't tend to just drift in one direction. My Garmin's tended to go off farther and farther on each marker. At the end of a half marathon my Apple Watch is only off about 20ft. Apple did a great job with the pedometer.

Personally I'd leave it alone and just accept that Strave will tax you sometimes. What I do is over run every run just a tad so I know it will still make the cut, even if I get taxed.

Thanks. It’s good to know it’s on your radar. I love your app and use it daily. However, because I trail run (aged 69) my beloved likes to live track, so I’m reduced to using Strava beacon (without health data) and WO at the same time. It works (ish) but throws some stats awry. Anyway, really just wanted to say thank you for the best workout app for AW ultra ever!

I've been running since 1999 and I've gone through many different watches (I'm a bit obsessed with them) until in 2020 I switched from the F5+ to the AW6 and discovered WoD. I used it for a while, then abandoned the app for STRYD, then switched to AWU1, then to Epix2, back to AWU2, and finally returned to the Epix, and ended up back on the AW7 (temporarily) while waiting for the AW3.

And yes, this will be another shout-out to Ian, but it’s only thanks to him and his app that you can fully utilize the AW as a running watch. I don’t want to spark any debates about what’s better or worse, as I believe everyone has their own needs and tastes. However, for me, this app in its current form (I only left it because it didn't have AOD) is brilliant.

I know everyone here is aware of this, but such things need to be communicated to the creators, as they truly deserve recognition, especially for such relatively small amounts of money. I noticed there is a Tip Jar and I didn’t hesitate to use it.

May this evening be as sweet as sugar for you, Ian, because you truly deserve it.

You got any timeframe on this?
Importing structured workouts is really the one big thing that I miss in WOD. Mainly because the displayed pace and running power in the native workout app is not responsive enough for short intervalls.
For me, this is definitely a priority.

Creating workouts in the app isn’t a big problem and doesn’t take much time, but when you have complicated workouts like 15min E+2x8min LT/5minE+5x800/3min+2x10min TM/5min E+15min E, it requires a bit of effort.
It’s especially cumbersome when you also have to set the zones, etc.

I use structured training plans, and importing a FIT or TCX file would definitely improve the experience. However,
one can certainly manage without it.

What I really care about is having a separate button for creating workouts at the bottom of the toolbar. I think there’s enough space to add an additional icon between those five buttons, and it probably wouldn’t take much work. Although I might be mistaken since I’m not an expert in this area.

Thanks in advance, and best regards,
Robert

Improving the interval schedule functionality is high on my to-do list but currently below improved navigation and custom activity types, both of which are a lot of work.

Having more tabs on smaller iPhones may be a bit cramped but it would probably be ok for larger models. I may make it possible to configure the tabs shown in the app but it is very rarely requested so pretty low on the list.

Sorry about that.

On workouts recorded with WOD, if I name the workout, can WOD write the name to Health so other apps see the same name?

Unfortunately not. The app uses Apple's workout system to write the data to the health system. This is saved on the watch at the end of a workout and it is not possible to edit this workout later on the phone.

It may be possible to allow the user to enter a name on the watch before the app saves the workout but that would be fiddly.

Bummer. I was hoping since WOD wrote the workout that Apple would allow you to change the workout name.

Is there a way to force a small section of a downloaded map area to re-download? I made some OpenStreetMap changes and just want to update that area.

I am interested in this as well since I do a lot of solo gravel cycling rides.

Bit of niche question but I’ve a days indoor ski training in the uk Sunday.
can’t see a gps signal getting thru the metal roof, any suggestions on what activity to use within wod? I guess the aw can’t work out distance or even elevation travelled on skis without gps?

Is it possible to change the type of workout for example, I ran this evening but mistakenly I used the walking exercise. Can I change it to running?
Sorry, Apple don't allow workouts to be edited afterwards, and the activity type would be pretty difficult to change anyway. Many metrics are based on the activity type (e.g. calories) so it would be hard to do.

Sorry, that is not possible. It's been on my to-do list for many years but is rarely requested so is low down the list.

Probably the generic Other Indoor activity would be best. As you say the app can't detect distance without GPS and elevation is unreliable indoors, so you are limited to just the basic stats: time, heart rate, calories etc.

IMG_4789.jpegHi Ian,

I noticed a small detail while checking the intervals. Would it be possible to keep the intervals on the chart in green, while leaving the rest in the default color for that type? For example, gray for recovery, yellow for steady, etc.

It would make everything much more readable.

Thanks in advance!

In theory the colour of the pace values should vary between red / yellow / green to indicate how fast or slow each interval was. So the recovery interval paces would be red and the fast intervals should be green.

I am not sure why they all look green for you though. Maybe there was a very slow interval so everything seems green in comparison. But I can’t see that in your screenshot.
