These are things that actually matter to me and surpass design updates by a big margin. Happy with the update.

You can always switch to a Huawei phone if you’re not happy. I heard their phones are awesome.

Some will like the update, some will not, and many will not really care much one way or the other -- nothing really new, strange, or surprising any of it.

I would think that everyone would like the update, but some may be disappointed that certain features they wanted were not included. Who am I fooling, in this day and age people can find reason to complain and be offended by just about everything!

No that's ios 15

Haters gotta hate. There's plenty in this release to get excited about... if you want to move your icons around all willy-nilly, there's an android for that.

I am thrilled with the new iOS 13 options.

Get a spam call? It will automatically be silenced and go straight to voicemail in iOS 13.

Would be better if it got silenced automatically and then dropped. Getting my voice mailbox filled up with spam isn't really the answer that I want... but it's close... and better than a poke in the eye with a sharp stick.

Forget all the crap iOS 13 brings, was I the only one holding out for them to restore the iOS 6 look? Been waiting 6 long years. What's one more year? At least dark mode resembles somewhat of iOS 6.

This is kinda written like a troll post so idk, but I do generally agree. iOS 13 was supposed to be a big change and it does feel like a let down. I just feel like iOS is a more fluid, easy to understand operating system overall. If it weren't, I wouldn't hesitate to leave the iPhone.

Here is problem with people like the OP, you want Apple to be on the cutting edge of newer technological advances but Apple takes their time with their rollout. Look at what happened with the Galaxy Fold. Samsung was the first one out the gate with the newest tech and they didn’t perfect it and the phone ultimately got recalled. Once Apple rolls out tech, software etc you will know that it is does as right as possible.

I wish that was the case.
Biggest issue I have and had with Apple iOS; if the basic app had issues you were not allowed to define an alternative default. You were stuck with it.
I also have to say that the Apple version when launched, especially software, is not always doen as right as possible.

The best part of iOS updates is usually the new frameworks that allow developers to do new stuff.

This time, for example, we get parameterized siri shortcuts. Wasn't mentioned at all in the keynote. There is a ton of stuff like that that will come out in the coming days.

That is a hope. Have to see and keeping my fingers crossed.

I haven't watched the event yet, only heard the 2 minute version. But, if true, with the updates to iOS (mouse support, better files support, external drive support) iOS just became my main OS.

So basically you’re mad because the iPhone home screen is still a grid of apps. Yet no one has come up with anything better.

I do agree with you about incoming phone calls taking up the entire screen but it’s a minor annoyance in the grand scheme of things.

What do you mean no one has done it better. Um android has. You can place app icons anywhere or by swiping up you get your app drawer in alpha order.

And keyboard word predictions in SWEDISH! I might finally get scribble as well on my watch :D
Um i don’t know anyone that actually uses Apple Maps in my family.
And keyboard word predictions in SWEDISH! I might finally get scribble as well on my watch :D
  1. Street View in Apple Maps with clickable stores when "virtual walking" a street.( not sure who uses Apple Maps)
  2. Apps launching 2X faster, App download sizes smaller
  3. swipe typing natively on the keyboard (wow way to go, you finally caught up with android after 10 years
  4. location services privacy
  5. Sign in with Apple over google/facebook that creates a random e-mail address to register you for a app/service that you can delete later. (Your still letting Apple store your information)
  6. more intuitive photo editing, video rotation and filters (this was good but unless they put the camera functions right in the app and not having to dive into the settings app then they were lazy to not do this. I mean why can’t we change the video quality within the camera)
  7. live radio listening (iheart radio does this)
  8. Siri sounding more natural
  9. Airpods reading back messages and going into listening mode if you have them in your ear( great a $150 item has some function)
  10. Bluetooth sharing.

If you’re disappointed about iOS 13 then I feel sorry for you. It is a massive update for everyone.
It is an incremental update like any other. It may have more features than your normal ios upgrade. But this was supposed to be the ios which would finally bring a new design etc.

I’ve used YouMail for a while now and it does this very well. Nice to have it natively but will be interesting to see how much control they give us.

Wow, after that keynote I am totally let down by Apple for the last time. We were told last year that a refresh was supposed to be for iOS 12 but was pushed to iOS 13 to make room for performance improvements. Now that the keynote is over and the big takeaway is freaking Dark Mode, like that was the most requested item. No homescreen changes, no icon updates. Incoming calls still take up the whole phone as do Facetime calls. No multitasking on the Plus or Max iphones. Like they spent 20 mins are freaking Minecraft? The updated security Im sure is a welcome from the news of breaches. It says you can now sign in with Apple. Apple is just trying to hide the fact they wont be sharing with Google but they will still have access to peoples data. So for people to think they are safe from all tech companies then you must be blind. They finally added swipe to text. Android only has had that since day 1. Faster performance, like seriously, you build one of the fastest chips on the market and you are now only supporting 6s and up. Whos slow? The only thing keeping people on iphones is seriously iMessage. Seriously people know they have better features for the money on other phones like Samsung, Oneplus, etc yet your all now blinded that Apple is the best. Where is Jony Ive? Doesn't he still work at apple?

Relax Francis, or Sgt. Hulka gonna...

I think that assumption about a bigger change is what ends up throwing things off for plenty. It's something that happens with almost every new version where someone assumes something, whether or not it seems like there are more or less rumors to "back it up", and then gets disappointed.

This is what i agree on. Everyone was like wait till ios 13! It will be so different! A whole new redesign etc! They are saving so much for ios 13! And then we get no new redesign or nothing, but added features. And ppl are perplexed as to why others are disappointed. lol!

Well, what if it was a call from someone that isn't a spammer and perhaps there was something important one way or another to it -- a voicemail would be good to have.

Yes that’s what they said last year that they were pushing the new design this year so that iOS 12 would be more for older phones to run smoother.

Probably because it really wasn't even close to everyone and because it was all essentially mostly just rumors/assumptions/hopes/etc.

I still don’t really know what the major features outside dark mode, Apples own data tracking vs social media/google, and the performance upgrades yet again.

Many of the new things major features. If you are talking about major features in the sense of large overall systemwide design/interaction changes, then that's something kind of different.
