  1. Street View in Apple Maps with clickable stores when "virtual walking" a street.( not sure who uses Apple Maps)
  2. Apps launching 2X faster, App download sizes smaller
  3. swipe typing natively on the keyboard (wow way to go, you finally caught up with android after 10 years
  4. location services privacy
  5. Sign in with Apple over google/facebook that creates a random e-mail address to register you for a app/service that you can delete later. (Your still letting Apple store your information)
  6. more intuitive photo editing, video rotation and filters (this was good but unless they put the camera functions right in the app and not having to dive into the settings app then they were lazy to not do this. I mean why can’t we change the video quality within the camera)
  7. live radio listening (iheart radio does this)
  8. Siri sounding more natural
  9. Airpods reading back messages and going into listening mode if you have them in your ear( great a $150 item has some function)
  10. Bluetooth sharing.

But apart from that, what have the Romans ever done for us?

Lets face it. Every year we say Apple will come out with this new great design for the ios. To replace the stale ios they have now. And every year its the same design. At some point we have to realize that it aint gonna happen! Lmao!

Wow, after that keynote I am totally let down by Apple for the last time. We were told last year that a refresh was supposed to be for iOS 12 but was pushed to iOS 13 to make room for performance improvements. Now that the keynote is over and the big takeaway is freaking Dark Mode, like that was the most requested item. No homescreen changes, no icon updates. Incoming calls still take up the whole phone as do Facetime calls. No multitasking on the Plus or Max iphones. Like they spent 20 mins are freaking Minecraft? The updated security Im sure is a welcome from the news of breaches. It says you can now sign in with Apple. Apple is just trying to hide the fact they wont be sharing with Google but they will still have access to peoples data. So for people to think they are safe from all tech companies then you must be blind. They finally added swipe to text. Android only has had that since day 1. Faster performance, like seriously, you build one of the fastest chips on the market and you are now only supporting 6s and up. Whos slow? The only thing keeping people on iphones is seriously iMessage. Seriously people know they have better features for the money on other phones like Samsung, Oneplus, etc yet your all now blinded that Apple is the best. Where is Jony Ive? Doesn't he still work at apple?

No official source ever said that there would be a redesign... Anything else was pure rumors and speculation.

Yup, iOS 7 was more of the same, just like every year before that.

I actually agree with you on the UI letdown for Voice/Facetime calls taking up the entire screen, was also hoping this could change in IOS13 but it didn't... nevertheless there are tons of new features in IOS 13 and most importantly it provides a powerful framework for developers to write better apps, so I would say this is a very good update and more values to be realised as we go.

Here is problem with people like the OP, you want Apple to be on the cutting edge of newer technological advances but Apple takes their time with their rollout. Look at what happened with the Galaxy Fold. Samsung was the first one out the gate with the newest tech and they didn’t perfect it and the phone ultimately got recalled. Once Apple rolls out tech, software etc you will know that it is does as right as possible.

Bro, this guy is talking about an OS upgrade. He's not asking Apple to make an electric car with a 15,000 mile range using a AAA battery.

I agree with the op, it's disappointing that Apple didn't redesign the home screen. Android has a better home screen by far.

What were you expecting some type of magic carpet ride.. it’s a phone operating system... and also we’ve learned in the past that there’s always more features not detailed until the new devices are released so hold on there buckaroo

So they took 10 years to perfect swipe

Am i the only disappointed that some apps like Apple music didn’t have any significant changes? I may have missed it. But I don’t think they really mentioned any upgrades to Apple music. Aside from some carplay, and homepod features. I was hoping they would finally make it play nice with more non Apple devices. And incorporate more Spotify features.

I somewhat agree. Rumors have been flying all year that iOS 13 was going to be a big redesign after the performance refinements of iOS 12.
I've said it before and I'll say it again: There's a big difference between actual reporting/rumors and people on MacRumors/Reddit talking out of their rear ends.

Apple will most likely never have another "big redesign" of iOS on the scale of iOS 7. Instead, changes to the design are more subtle and gradual. The design language has changed quite a bit since 2013, but not all at once (arguably the most jarring change being iOS 10/11 with large titles in navigation bars). But from here on out, Apple has its design language figured out, at least at its core, and it's unlikely that they'll do anything huge again, at least not for the foreseeable future.

Yes that’s what they said last year that they were pushing the new design this year so that iOS 12 would be more for older phones to run smoother.

Apple never said this. It was rumored Apple delayed some features that weren’t included in iOS 12 that should instead be available in iOS 13. Apple has never stated a revamp was coming.

Edit: Also, shortcuts automation and being able to implement them in the home app is simply amazing. Conversational shortcuts as well that can ask follow up questions. But darn it!! No new icons!!

Really don't understand why some people stay on iPhone just because they need iMessage. I thought that too before I switched to Samsung and simply installed WhatsApp. Problem solved instantly.

jup, the butterfly keyboard from the 2016-2017-2018-2019 MacBook Pro was a true Masterpiece of Art.

4 years in a row a perfect keyboard. There were no complaints worldwide whatsoever

I’m disappointed as well I know the dark mode in iOS 13 is designed for OLED screen, but it just feels like I turn smart invert colours option. Plus no safari extension support so dark mode with safari looks very ugly with web pages all in white. I hoped dark mode would look more like macOS. Also still no costumization on home screen, even for iPads. Appart dark mode it’s just minor update just like iOS 12 was.

i prefer all the long awaited improvents to a new design that will loose it's novelty after a few days.
this update has pretty much everything people were asking about for years. (except a redesign that will always be on the wish list, even after a redesign)

You should really think about the structure of this message. It's god awful reading a block of text, even if it is an interesting read..

I also would like something different than pure black from Apple. Don’t forget though that other apps can make their own dark theme. The best part about dark mode is the toggle in control center.

Exactly my thoughts and post on Reddit and got downvoted as hell!
I didn't a single important/competitive nor a creative idea with this new shi** if i may say!

I'm a huge Apple fan and i own all their products, but seriously, this is a scam/rip-off/playing with words and people minds, magnifying whats really REALLY low/little almost nothing!

Really unsure the people who were cheering were really from Earth??

iMessage is what keeps me. I have to travel a great deal, make calls/messages to and from out of country. When around half of Americans have an iPhone, and only use iMessage/FaceTime because they're built in, it hurts not to have them.

as for features regarding the gentleman above. I was impressed, but I'm not the target consumer for these features. I can understand why others are underwhelmed.

Street View - Already existed with competitors, and limited utility for me.
Apps launching 2X faster - I don't have an issue with performance now.
swype - don't prefer it.
location services privacy - tough one. i'm pretty cautious with telemetry as it is.
Sign in - depends on developer support. Something tells me the devs I'd want to use it will not, and the ones that do, I didn't have to worry as much about.
more intuitive photo editing - I do what little photo editing off device.
live radio listening - already do that through apps, and i thought that was homepod focused.
Siri natural - i don't talk to siri. i give some short, specific commands when I must. Her response accuracy has improved, but not enough. Fix that before fixing her enunciation.
Airpods - Don't have them. Don't intend to. Not noise isolating. I need them to be similar to ear protection foamies in the places I go.
Your take aware was Dark mode? - Apple seemed to be very proud that they reinvented the black screen and green blinking cursor.
It may surprise you to learn that you aren't the sole person Apple are trying to cater to with iOS 13.

This always happens, Apple promote a few "big" features..... but then people get their grubby paws on the beta and then there's 100's of "small" changes that blow everyones minds. I'm expecting that to be the case here.
