well remember there is stuff behind the black banner, could they be hidding the new ipod video? doesn't make sense to only upgrade the nano. hell, why not every product on the apple lineup.

Probably because the banner contains absolutely no new product information. Yes, it is a WWDC 2006 banner, and yes, it contains a graphic of the new Leopard DVD. The banner does not, however, contain any other new information.

Of course, the covered banners in the photo do indicate that something new is coming, so I suppose that's newsworthy. ;)
I still think the banner is a bit more concrete then the conjecture from other websites/analysts and rumors.

How about OS XI (aka oh sexy) will be the first to NOT support PowerPC? I think that 11 is closer than we think.

Steve Jobs aid that OS X should last us about another 20 years. I don't think 11 is that close.

i don't think he said the actual OS was gonna last 20 years. i think he said the architecture was gonna last 20 years.

some other things... the core duo logo looks like it might say Core 2 Duo...

I don't think you can make any judgements. Here's an example of what happens when you take the resolution way down...

core.jpg

Of course, as Apple uses a different logo for the Core processors than any other PC manufacturer, the Core 2 logo shown there is just a guess...

Me too.

But I'm renovateing my room over the weekend, and during the week, so I wont have my iMac setup on monday.. it will be out of my room and in the basment or something. Hopefully I can use my dads laptop or something to watch the Keynote on.

What time do you guys think the Keynote and new products will be on Apple.com (San Fran time)

You can't get a much better comparison than that and you still can't tell what it is! No point in exploding your eyes and brain over it.

So does this imply we'll get a ship date for 10.5?

Previously, it had been rumored that they'd simply show off 10.5, but now that there's an actual picture of the Install Disc on a banner, it may be a little closer to shipment...

Maybe September/October (which I believe was around the time Tiger shipped)?

Again, I love this!

We Mac users are so thorough... if they ever posted a Page1 story on a stolen painting or a murder case, it'd be solved by the time the thread reached three pages.

It's a real banner. What are you implying?

I'm not saying it's a fake or anything. Just doesn't look "professional." Like someone just placed a ton of logos/icons/computers on there and somehow theres our banner.

Oh. :)

I guess because it's not super-promo material and just a background, it doesn't matter?

I love Photoshup Phun, but I have to say, I think Core 2 Duo is coming, whether it's on that banner or not :D

Also, I no longer think the bike is significant. False alarm.

after the high resolution images above, even the core duo (no 2) question is solved.
one thing remains to be decided: what is the iPod playing?

(and for the bike: i've seen frequently workers using bike in setting up large spaces)

We may get a shipping date but the disk means nothing.

WWDC '04 showed an image of Tiger's disk only it was the "X" (with serifs) from 10.3 with a background of Tiger skin. By the time it shipped (went on sale April 29th 2005) it had become the big X with the spotlight behind it.

I wouldn't be surprised if the image on the disk changed before release which I think will come around March next year.

Well, there IS one thing that I now know after seeing this banner: The banner is either displaying the current version of the macbook pro OR the merom mbp will have latches...look at the blown up version of the images a few posts earlier.

I don't see any latches.

I don't either. I've blown up one of the pictures and there is clearly no latches.
