If it DID say "Current Platform", the Leopard disk wouldn't make sense.

Even so, I also don't think these images don't particularly pertain to what Steve Jobs will be talking about in the Keynote.

We get it...You've made it abundantly clear you don't think anything is revealed. I don't either, but it's the only official thing to come out of WWDC so far, let us have our fun...

I'm not so sure about that. Look at the edges of the keyboard where there is no lettering. It has a lit outline. That is exactly what my illuminated keyboard does, and I'm fairly sure white lettering wouldn't give that impression.

Have you seen a MacBook in person?

The reason the Pro model has that white edge is because there's a gap between the edge of the keys and the top case that runs all the way around the keyboard.

On the MacBook, it's all one piece. There's nothing separating the keys from the rest of the top case other than the individual outlines of each key.

If the current MacBook ever got a backlit keyboard, it wouldn't create the type of effect we're seeing here.

How do you know this? Have you conducted your own research and given us real-world proof? No. You're just making everything up.

The only humour I can see is in Chundles' posts. Either that or you have a very odd sense of humour.

Found a bigger picture, the image to the right of the Leopard disk is the back of the iMac, not a Cinema Display or as I had suggested earlier the icon for Rosetta.

Here's the image in full:

There's absolutely nothing (besides the 10.5 disk) that is new on the banner. It's the other banners and the stuff that's missing from this big one that interests me.

I am the one....

Nah, some bloke posted it in another thread here and I nicked it.

All the computers are running the Tiger background. There's something that looks like a Mac mini in the very top right of the banner and below it is an odd-looking icon for Spotlight - I would've thought they'd keep the current blue one but that looks all silver and glassy.

Backlit Keyboard Marketing Theory

iGary said:
Do you have the sales figures to back this up?
How you gonna figure that out? It's a marketing theory. You would have to poll every customer to prove it. So such sales figures are not possible.

5. Addition of a Backlit Keyboard would not gain a significant number of sales for the MacBook as it is today.
6. Not having it in the MacBook does increase sales for the more profitable MacBook Pros.

IOW, it's a feature that, if added, would take MORE sales DOWN from MacBook Pros that if withheld steers more customers UP toward buying a MacBook Pro instead.

I regreat that some of you fail to see the humor in this line of posts and take my stuff way too seriously. But then I'm not a scientist nor a Demi-God so my social standing here is quite inferior. :D

I never stated any of this as FACT. I was asked for reasons I thought MacBook would never get a Backlit Keyboard by another member above.

Does that mean the thing that looked like a flame on a candle is actually just the current ACD?

I'm reading all this at work, so I can only look at the picture in quick snippets. :D

EDIT: and that thing below the Mac Mini is the logo for Quartz. Spotlight is under X-Grid

No, the thing that looked like a candle is the back of the iMac. There are no Cinema Displays on the banner.

Ah, Quartz, that makes sense. My brain must've skipped over the actual icon under the xGrid icon.

I vote that it says something ending in "dominant platform." -- something to shoot for ;)

Maybe something along the lines of "The next dominant platform."

Also do you reckon the mountain bike has any significance

The bike is a bit strange. Did someone ride their bike there to work on set-up? Wouldn't you park outside?

It's a BlackBook, the keyboard is not illuminated - it's just the edge of the rim around the keyboard catching the light making it look like it's glowing.

It's just a bog-standard BlackBook.

Apart from the Leopard disk there isn't anything on that banner we haven't seen before.

If the current MacBook ever got a backlit keyboard, it wouldn't create the type of effect we're seeing here.

This is a very good point. If the MB ever got backlit keys, then we'd see the outlines of the chicklets, not the outline of the keyboard.

Also, something to consider, the current MBP achieves the backlit keys in a particular way. When the backlight is off, the transparent plastic appears dark grey or black, as there's no light behind it. When the backlight turns on, the letters then glow white. This would be a problem for the black MB, as having dark grey or black letters on black keys would not show up at all in normal lighting. Sure, you'd be able to see them in the dark, but not in the light. So, if we ever do see backlit keyboards for a computer with black keys, it would have to be done very differently than they are done now.
