Sometimes these threads sort of amaze me, I mean, if you bought a phone between $1000-$1500 knowing what you’re spending, I’m sure you would be happy with it, given that you knowing exactly what you’re buying, in which most are likely pleased with their Purchase.

Aside from hardware defects, the only thing I can think of why somebody would regret buying the XS/Max, would simply be for ‘Buyers remorse’ for spending that amount for something they may not have actually needed in the first place.

Or are you happy with your purchase? Love to hear your thoughts.

I have an ipx and I love it! Do not regret it and do not plan on replacing it on the newer versions that from what I see, isn't all that much an upgrade. I am keeping this for as long as it works. I may very well be in the ip6 crowd that never upgraded. I do not see any reason to get rid of a perfectly wonderful phone that doesn't have the bezels that I hated so much.

I’m curious if people had to pay upfront for these phones instead of financing, how well will these 1k+ phones be selling.

If these phones were not allowed to be financed, Apple would be in a worse off position. They rely on the carriers to help them with the subsidize payments to make it affordable, many consumers cannot upfront $1100 for an iPhone, which doesn’t include accessories or Apple care. So my thoughts are, these expensive phones would _not_ be selling nearly what they are if it was not for carrier payments.

I don’t regret spending $ on my XS Max. Though the XR or XS would’ve been just fine. I’ll probably use this baby for several years, so it’s worth it if you factor in usage and Apple support.

I have little regrets after upgrading from 8 Plus Product Red 256GB. I ended up loving it after spending over 1,500 for XS Max space 512 GB. Like most, I’m a tech guy that loves the latest and greatest. I also have the Pixel XL 3 128 GB Just Black that I love as well. I carry both devices everyday. Both devices have great cameras, but the pixel xl 3 front camera wide angle it’s awesome. Back to XS Max no phone is worth over 1,000 especially if you finance or lease. My recommendation if you have the cash it’s worth it. I like my monthly Verizon bill the same and not pay extra 50-75 month. That’s insane.

Nope and I didn’t spend $1,000 on my X. After lease cost and cost to buy out it would only cost me $600 or so.

Maybe it's my old age but I regret anytime I spend money! Seriously though, on a device that I use probably 100 times a day for business and personal/entertainment use, I can justify paying the price. Would I like it if it were cheaper, of course, but almost all flagship phones are very close to/if not exceeding the $1000 mark. Technically speaking it's cheaper than buying a cup of coffee a day so why not.

No it’s not. That would take about a bit over 2 years to be worth a cup of coffee a day.

When I had my X, not even a little. Now that I've upgraded to a XS, the answer is yes. I told myself over and over that I wasn't going to upgrade and I ended up doing it anyway.

For my uses, I'd never be able to tell the difference between a X and a XS so it definitely seems like a huge waste.

The XS is worth it over an X if you have T-mobile since the X doesn’t support their new 600mhz network. The XS does so for future proofing wise it is.

Spouse and I spent about 2K combined on two iPhone 7+ with the high storage options near the release date two years ago. No regrets, but definitely did not feel like we got our money's worth.

I love the phone it works amazing and take beautiful photos. But then when i was cleaning my phone this happens:

I think this is not acceptable for a phone that cost 1400€. I hope they can replace it :(

Yes, I'm very unhappy but I'll explain.
I can justify paying 1k for a phone but then I expect that I get top quality product.

Mine had straight out of the box 1. popping noise from chassis (very much like in the video someone just posted above, but mine also does that sound when slightly twisting the phone etc... so it pretty much happens in normal use every day even without doing anything else than holding the phone or picking it up), 2. "prescratched" screen, 3. prescratched back, 4. uneven display, 5. bad battery life. In my opinion that is unacceptable for the product this price. These kind of things should be noticed in QC! Also nonexistent DOA policy pretty much ruins the experience if you bought the phone from reseller and not directly from Apple shop, so you can only deal with service center and get it replaced with refurbished/remanufactured one. So even I like iPhone's a lot (IOS in generally for phones and tablets) I'm really considering if I should buy another again ever, at least the top of the line product.

I have Verizon but your point still stands. As far as future proofing goes the XS offers plenty of advantages, as well as some nice camera upgrades.

I'll make use of the advantages but I know in the back of my mind that I would have gotten by just fine with my X for another year.

I know we won’t see anymore subsidized $199 iPhones but $1000+ is getting kind of expensive. And the price can easily get to $1500. How long before we see prices in the $2K range?

Like eating an expensive meal, if it is very tasty then you don't really regret it.

No - I love mine and it was well within my budget. I am a little more security conscious when out side etc. But I evern bought an XR for a backup..some days I prefer using the XR over the XS Max.

Many of us do buy the phone outright. I live within a mile of an Apple store and upgrade often. The only device I wouldn't upgrade this year is my iPad Pro 10.5 as it works perfectly.

In Canada buying the XS Max 256 gb with taxes and AppleCare is over $2000.00 which is ridiculous when buying outright so getting the phone subsidized with a carrier is probably the only way to go.

I do regret it.
I was really happy with my X but just craved the big screen of the XS Max.

My Max is too big. I dislike cases and always had a firm grip on my X. The Max is so big I had to add an Apple leather case which makes it even bigger. I can’t operate it with one hand. I’m a photographer and find it much more difficult to take pictures with now. I do think the camera is better, but I don’t think it’s enough to justify the extra money I spent (about $600 after selling my 10).

I should have known better since I went from a 6S+ back to a 7 due to size. I miss my X

It's a shame that it is too big for some after using it for a while. Me? I just got used to it and appreciate the extra real estate.

Each time I've bought a newer, bigger phone the size has never been a factor in putting me off.

I do find my iPad 10.5 Pro a little unwieldy at times though.

None. I had my iphone 6 for 4 years, it was time for an upgrade and I love my XS. I went from 1 gig of ram to 4 gigs, a significantly better camera, and the full-size screen is a huge upgrade. It's possible it's LTE quality is less than an iphone X, but I've never used one so I have no idea. It's certainly way better than the iphone 6.

If the XR had been available in a smaller size I may have considered it, but with the sizes as they were my only choices were the 8 and XS and I wanted that bigger screen. I plan to keep this phone for 3-4 years so I should get my money's worth by the time I upgrade.

iPhone Xs Max was only €850 unlocked though work.... Im OK at this price, would not have bought for the ludicrous €1400 for the 64Gb one in my country :D
