I have a launch day X, and I don’t regret upgrading from the 7+ (which I still own) or paying over $1k. I do everything on this device, including work related projects, shopping, making doctor appointments and refilling prescriptions, paying bills, watching movies, editing my daughter’s videos for her YouTube channel and everything else I do on it. I did finance my phone through T-Mobile and got a awesome deal for $12.50 off my device payments bringing it to $5.42 a month for 2 years. I did upgrade my Series 2 Apple Watch to a Series 4, which I was happy to upgrade. Next year I will be upgrading to whatever X Max is released.

Kinda. I went from an iPhone X to an XS Max, and I still have doubts about the purchase. I love the new XS Max, but there's that bit of buyer's remorse lingering around.
On the other hand, I went from a 10.5" iPad Pro to the new 11" and I'm quite happy. Also, I went from a 2017 15" MBP to a 2018 13"MBP and it's great (even more power, in a smaller form factor). I also bougth the Apple Watch Series 4, and it's awesome, way better than previous generations.
I'd say the iPhone XS is this year's least impressive upgrade on Apple's lineup.

I do regret it.
I was really happy with my X but just craved the big screen of the XS Max.

My Max is too big. I dislike cases and always had a firm grip on my X. The Max is so big I had to add an Apple leather case which makes it even bigger. I can’t operate it with one hand. I’m a photographer and find it much more difficult to take pictures with now. I do think the camera is better, but I don’t think it’s enough to justify the extra money I spent (about $600 after selling my 10).

I should have known better since I went from a 6S+ back to a 7 due to size. I miss my X
Then get an iPhone XS, or an iPhone XR, or an iPhone 8, or keep your iPhone XS Max.

The silicon case isn’t much better. The max isn’t for everyone. I wanted a bigger screen. And the max has it.
