I see a lot of people paying msrp. That should always be a regret. But ignorance is bliss I guess.

I've had my Xs for about two weeks now. It's totally worth the $1150 that I paid for it. My phone actually works now and I'm not sitting and waiting for the phone to do basic stuff.

I intend to keep this phone for at least as long as I kept my previous phone (iPhone 6), which was 4 years. I paid $750 for that one.

I would expect that year 4 on the Xs will be much more pleasurable than year 4 of the iP6 was. That alone will make the upgrade worthwhile.

Not at all. I’m fortunate in that I can buy a new iPhone every year and will continue to do so as long as I can. I get a lot of use from my tech, I don’t take expensive holidays or smoke so why the hell not?

I don't regret buying this phone one bit. I have the 512GB XS Max. I got it though Verizon so I didn't have to pay anything up front to get it. It's an amazing phone.

I'm using it on T-Mobile now.

No flagship phone should ever be over 1000, thats just Lldacris. I had the Max but return it because I was in shock when I looked on my bill to see the installment balance of 1200. No thanks. Happy with the XR. The prices apple charges are ridiculous. The pricing models should be Iphone XR 499 64gb, XS 749 gb and XS Max 849. For example a 256gb XS Max costs us $1249 but costs Apple $443 to build. Thats a profit of $806 per phone. Even if they made the XS Max 256 999 they still make $556 per phone and sell more.

how was this a shock? didnt you know the price of the phone before you bought it? what exactly were you expecting to see on the bill lol?

For people saying 'of course people spending $1000-1500 know what they're getting for their money and the value they want from their phone' I dont feel thats necessarily true, especially once the dust settles and hype dwindles.

Buyer remorse, and biting off more than you either can chew or want to chew, is a very real thing with consumerism and any product.

Unless some carrier deal, or a trade in, or Black Friday, iPhones are usually locked in at MSRP.

A lot less flexibility with them than iPads, Macs, etc.

No regrets at all. Although sometimes the size annoys me. Not sure if I’m willing to go down to a smaller device though. I had the 8 plus last year.

Maybe Xr gen 2?

X is a bit small for most coming from plus , or at least a decent amount

Maybe it's my old age but I regret anytime I spend money!

Well said. And this kind of money can cause serious misgivings, especially for a device that most of us w/ iPhones less than 5 years old do not really need. I just put iOS 12 on my 6 Plus, and it now runs just wonderfully. I could easily get another 1 to 2 years out of it. Ergo, I do not need another phone.

Seriously though, on a device that I use probably 100 times a day for business and personal/entertainment use, I can justify paying the price

Good point. Relative to the other things in our lives that we often spend money on, the iPhone, assuming you don't have another that will get you by just fine, is a relative bargain, given how often it is used.

What will you do with your XS Max then?

I went from SE to Max and missed one handed use during commuting so much and coupled with some minor problems I decided to return it. It was a joy to watch Netflix on and that's what I enjoyed the most from it. From the money I bought my first macbook and replaced my SE battery at the apple store. FaceID was not working as good as expected, due to all these positive comments I had high anticipations. Maybe it had something to do with my glasses. When I was trying the Animoji, the animations were freezing all of the time. o_O

Really, don’t care about amount I spend. I care that my new “toy” is not as interesting as it was before. I think next year for the first time I skip my upgrade.
Excited with Apple Watch this year.

No regrets with my XS Max. Would I prefer it to be cheaper? Like anything, sure. But I use my phone more than just about anything (except the computer, I guess) so over a time span of a year or two + what I'll get back when I sell it -- the price is pretty fine with me.

Extremely happy with my purchases. For a device that I use for multiple hours a day, I can easily justify the cost. It makes more money than it costs me, so why would I regret it?

I don't think I will be upgrading to whatever comes out next until the notch goes away and battery becomes noticeably better.

yahHHHHHHH I regret it and i make good money!!! I tell people thinking about the max that it’s not worth it. Get the xr. The 1350 I spent does not equal an extra $500 in tech goodness. I should have bought the xr. Again if only I could off load this to someone for 1200 I would do pull the trigger. I paid cash for the xs max unlock as I pay full price for phones. I gave the 8 plus to the gf.

Don’t get me wrong I was super excited for the phone but when I tried the xr for a week I thought you know the max is a great phone but it’s not 500 extra bones great.

Now the $950 I spent on the iPad Pro 12.9 2018 and the Apple Pencil ($135) was worth it. I can journal with the pencil, engage in deep planning with the pencil, and mark up pdf for my career. It’s was worth it to spend that much on the iPad for me. The max... not so much to be honest with you.

I swallowed the high-price this time, but next year Apple will have to find other fools to fork over 1000+ for a phone. I will keep this one for two or three years and not not be foolish again. This phone does exactly what I want and even last year the iPhone 8+ I had did what I want, but I fell victim to the upgrade stupidity. No more Mr Cook. Did same with the new iPad Pro and since the hardware will be more than needed, It’s time the software Mr. Cook, matches the hardware. No need to upgrade again and again. For some it’s like a habit.
Yah dude. Realistically I’ll go with 3. Longest I’ve kept a phone was for 2 yrs. with the iPhone 4.

What extra feature would you add to the Xs max for the 500 to be worth it?!

Ps the difference is not really 500 is it?! You chose to go for higher storage capacity which costs more. Comparing spec to spec on the lowest range is about 350.

I have an XS Max, it cost me £1099. It's a lot of money but no I don't regret it. I upgraded from a 6s Plus, which lasted me 3 years.

If my 6s Plus lasted me 3 years, I am confident this will last me at least 4. That's just over £250 a year for the phone itself (I pay £7.50 a month for 12GB data).

Yes. I regretted it so returned mine. Sorry, but it just isn’t worth 1k. All these “well for a device I use every day it is worth it” are from people who bought one trying to justify the cost. I think that argument is pretty dumb anyway when there’s phones out there costing a fraction of the price that have just as much if not more functionality and stuff you can do with them. I could easily buy several XS’s if I wanted but I still don’t feel it’s worth buying one when my 6s performs the same which cost around half as much, the XS doesn’t feel worth an extra 400 to me at all. They both run iOS 12 and it’s the same on both once you get past the gestures. Only thing I miss is the camera but my 6s is still good enough.
