When Android is happy with 2GB RAM, iOS will soar on 1GB and WP8 on 512MB.

Here is what the IP numbers mean. http://sourcetech411.com/2013/04/understanding-the-ip67-rating-for-waterproof-cables-and-connectors/ I know that some Samsungs were IP67 certified, about a year ago.

No clue what when Android is happy means. Both the 1020 and Icon flagships have 2 GB ram BTW, same as Android flagships. That 3gb ram on rhe Z2 is justified by 4k processing.

And the Z2 is IP58, not IP67.

From what I remember reading a week or so ago is that preordering was halted so the Z2 may not be easily obtained from the get go unless one did so.

In my country, phones such as Motorola, Sony and HTC are hard to find, especially when you do prepaid instead of contract. Android phones usually come from Samsung. My son's one friend as an Experia Z that is really very nice. I also like its Sony Bridge interface for Mac.

Didn't know it was already available in Taiwan.

Let's us know everything!!! I'm interested mainly in the battery life with that amazing 3200 battery.

Here are the first photos I have taken with the Xperia Z2. This just came in a few hours ago and these are all taken in Superior Auto. None of these have been modified!

More photos here and I will keep adding! https://flic.kr/s/aHsjVXogrK

A few notes:
  • The Xperia Z2 supports the Tmobile AWS bands in 4G and LTE
  • There are some bugs that need to be worked out. For example, viewing photos after taking a photo pulls up the keyboard and pictures don't rotate
  • MOST ANNOYING SO FAR - For some stupid reason, Exchange email requires a password instead of a PIN-code. WTF?! I heard this was an issue with KitKat on Xperia devices
  • The white version hides fingerprints on the back panel really well!
  • Auto brightness settings are unpredictable. Sometimes when viewing a picture, it gets dark in the photo app

Great pics! That is some nice detail and clarify. .....

Wow! You got the phone really fast! Nice! :D

Does it feel too tall and big? Comparing to S3/S4.

Is the UI fast and smooth or does it still stutter sometimes?

And battery! I'd like to know how much SOT did you get in your first day.

Does it have ART?

Does it feel like a big upgrade over your previous phone (which model)?

Enjoy! :)

  1. I've owned a Note 3 and have a Nexus 5, The size is between the two phones and no it doesn't feel that big at all
  2. Stuttering has been non-existant since Jelly Bean 4.3 on Android phones. This features the Snapdragon 801 processor and 3GB RAM. It's really fast
  3. Too early to discuss battery. Just barely got it last night. Stay tuned...
  4. Yes it has ART! It's a KitKat thing. Just enable in Developer mode
  5. In comparison with the Note 3, Z1, and the Nexus 5, it's not that much faster in real world use but I am very happy with the performance. There are some bugs that need to be worked out though but there is a new firmware that has just been certified according to Xperia Blog

Oh, here are some photos comparing the Z2 with the Nexus 5!

That white version looks......... gorgeous!:eek:

In this first hours with the Z2, do you like it more than the Nexus 5 and Note 3?

Surprised that it has ART! Do you have it enabled?

Outdoor ones look great (if not a little over exposed on the car bonnet/tree stump root etc..) but the indoor ones with the yellow overtone are not so great. Can the white balance be manually adjusted to compensate ?

Yes you can adjust the white balance in manual mode. Although superior auto is slightly improved from the Z1 and the Z1 compact, some photos still come out over exposed because there is just way too much post processing involved with the camera software.

I am hoping that the upcoming update solves that along with the other annoying quirks with the device (it has already been certified for rollout according to Xperia Blog).

Also, really good observation on the bonnet (we say "hood" in the USA, lol). I looked at the EXIF data and the ISO is 50 which is good for a photo like this. But you are right that it is way overexposed in that section of the photo. If I had time I would have taken comparison shots with the iPhone 5s and Nexus 5.

Your cat is so cute!!

That's all I have to add to the conversation.

As requested, here are some 20MP photos and comparison to 8MP. Keep in mind you won't really notice the difference between the two unless you view it at full resolution. I have more photos posted here as well as the full res: https://flic.kr/s/aHsjVXogrK

And I was playing with background defocus. It's pretty cool (even though I kinda screwed it up)!

Thank you for posting those! The Z2 tales pretty impressive photos...

Great camera.

I'm very interested in 4K video recording.

Is it much better than 1080P video recording? 2x better? Less?

More pictures posted! This time taken at night after dinner in Old Town Pasadena

This was taken yesterday. I downloaded and flashed the new firmware that came out this morning which is said to improve the camera. I will post photos with the new firmware this weekend.

Also working on my review for the Z2 which should be posted on BrightHand sometime next week :)

Impressed with the pictures at night.

Did your Z2 came with the pogo charger?

Does anyone know if every Z2 will come with it or just the Asian model?
