I visited Apple Store, Belfast yesterday for an appointment re speaker on my 11 Pro. Unfortunately due to COVID the store itself is a glorified service window so nothing on display to compare my 12PM to.
I did happen to mention my yellow screen 12PM to the genius and they immediately said that apple was aware of the problem and was ‘looking into it’. They seemed to think a software update ‘may solve’ the problem and it was ‘certainly an issue they had seen this week’.

True Tone doesn’t make my screen blueish when outdoors as mentioned in some previous posts, it looks the same no matter whether it’s indoor or outdoor. (True Tone on)
Try rebooting your phone and check again. I had this issue where TT would simply stop adapting correctly and it was only but reliably fixed by restarting the device. The issue would then reemerge after some time.

I replaced mine yesterday due to this and so far so good. I was interested in the employees perspective on this since it may very well just be a software issue but they really just wanted to give me a new one since I'm still within return.

See my post on this HERE

I was going to wait, but I decided to play the screen lottery. Last year, I had luck with the express replacement process and it is easier than returning one phone and purchasing another, so I went that route again. Customer support claimed that the yellow screen issue was one of the things being investigated for a potential software fix.
Even though I find it extremely doubtful that Apple will either acknowledge this - as opposed to green/flickering - or fix it via an iOS update, I did not press them and decided to hope against hope for a software fix. I can always get an express replacement in December to see if it is better than mine. I will report back when I receive the replacement.

I contacted support yesterday because my Apple Care did not transfer correctly and was stuck with the replacement phone. The senior advisor noticed my case for the yellow tint issue and mentioned that many people reported the yellow issue and they are investigating it. She also suggested not do replacement at the moment since it might have same issue. I am going to wait until around mid to end of Dec to try the lottery again...

The 12 Pro/Max display is almost identical to the 11 Pro Max display that I have, both have a yellow tint compared to any other display that I have access to.

Perhaps last year there were more variances between the panels and this year they appear to all be consistently yellow, at least based on everyone's experience thus far.

Hopefully, they can address this with software somewhat.

One thing is for sure, off-axis, my 11 Pro Max shifts to blue while the 12 PM shifts to green.

I've tried TT outside, and the screen turns blueish. Indoors yellow and for my taste too yellow.

Otherwise display is OK. White is white! I don't use TT.
I notice the same, but even if outside with TT screen is blueish, still whites arent 100x100 white, compare it with other phone. This is a hardware issue, how could be software issue ? some phones perfect white, others yellowish with same versión of iOS...

It's very likely that this is just how the screens are and they meet Apple's design specifications. There is no way that so many units are by accident yellow/warm or defective.

The only thing to hope for is that Apple releases some kind of feature to adjust the white point balance or perhaps re-adjust the TT algorithm but i think it's very unlikely.

Ok guys here is the glorious update from a senior advisor who spoke to the engineers.....just keep reading you’ll love this.....neither software or hardware updates will fix this issue, because “it’s expected” and normal behavior. There you have it folks. Enjoy the fabulous fix for this.

oh and they said adjust your color settings 🥴🤒🤐💩

Don’t worry there is no fix. Senior advisor talk to the engineers and they said it’s expected. So, enjoy.

This is pretty much what I was expecting... I'm sure they will fix it quietly with a software update and lump it in with "bug fixes" or we'll just start seeing them improved in hardware manufactured going forward.

My plan is to wait until as close to my return period of Jan 8th as possible and just grab a replacement. they should be readily available in stores at that point and hopefully improved hardware after all of the initial batch is sold during the holidays.

Maybe it’s a „Problem“ of Supplier of panels. In this case Samsung. The Note 20 ultra and Z Fold 2 have the same yellow / green tint, but they allow more calibration.

haven‘t seen a LG panel yet...

You say “just keep reading” as if you were about to write a huge paragraph instead of half a sentence. Ok thanks for the update. So the screen is functioning as intended. Who did you talk to? Apple support?

Yes, spoke with Apple support, who contacted the engineers. The engineers advised its normal and functioning as intended. So, expect no fix.

I’m just turning off True Tone and adjusting my settings. It’s close enough. After awhile you don’t even notice it. For those who say this is just accepting lower standards. You are correct. Return away if you want. It will be the same. In short deal with it or return it for a refund.

I paid 1200$ plus tax for my 12 max. I have till January 8 to return it. Since they want to play games with my money I might do an exchange for another max just to get one of the latest manufactured dates before I settle in for 2021 and then eventually get the 13 when it comes out

Folks, Unfortunately, I don’t see any fix to the yellow screen issue. This has been ongoing issue since my first iPhone 4. It’s an issue that has plagued some units, at least, for the past decade while most units exhibit perfect screens. I, personally, have had my share of yellow screens as well as perfect screens. I got lucky this year with my Launch 12 Regular.

I’ll do the same, maybe. Whatever I end up with I’ll just deal with.

Have been doing some more tests today. I think I can get used to the sight yellow tint my main issue is the dull appearance compared to other iPhones.

The issue I have is absolutely something to do with auto auto-brightness.

Side by side with an iPhoneX with auto brightness turned on (TT off, same brightness level etc ) then the iPhone X looks so much better! Then with just changing the auto brightness to off on both then the 12pro looks just as good.

anyone else have this issue?

It could also be reflection from the new screen tech, course they wouldn’t fix it. 99.95% of people don’t notice these things. Settle or vote with your wallet.

I think anyone that exchanged at this post will think they have a better screen, just because it’s newer
