Correct. But this is too widespread.
But the number of people who notice and care isn’t that widespread. That was my point. That, combined with the general lack of awareness of Apple’s repair/replacement programs, would mean it wouldn’t be quite as costly to them as one might think. Especially when such an act will increase the brand loyalty for those that are displeased with their devices and know about the program.

Literally all the iPhone 12s I saw at the Apple Store yesterday were piss yellow. Yet the Apple Employee couldn’t really see it. So he was either playing dumb or some people genuinely don’t perceive it.

I went through 5 iPhone 12 Pro Max models before I got one with the most even slight green tint when display is at minimum brightness. However this has the flickering issue that is noticeable on startup, and also a glow not displaying true blacks. I’ve never done these swaps with an Apple product before.

My sister’s normal iPhone 12 has no tint, no flickering, true blacks, and true greys. It is so obvious when put side by side. No swaps necessary, came like this first go.

There are defects out there that need a software fix. If they don’t fix by end of Dec, I will try one last swap because at Australian $2369 for a 512gb 12PM, it’s unacceptable.

Of course he can perceive it. Apple employees are instructed to behave this way.

We don’t know yet if a software fix is possible. Apple doesn’t either.

Yet it’s a defect apparently. They’re all like this! There is also no reason for them to be piss yellow other than software.

With True Tone on, on a bright day outdoors, the yellow tint completely goes on my 12 mini and everything looks clear white. Back indoors and it’s piss yellow again, and it’s yellow everywhere with True Tone off. So the screens can display clear white, just the software is preventing this for some reason. Get an update out Apple.

Can you describe better this issue?
The green tint appears with tt on/off or doesn’t matter?

Do you have a picture?

If you can’t understand from this thread, you probably can’t understand at all.

It will need a recall of all iPhones. Apple won’t do that.
People posting in this thread are hardly representing "all" iPhones. This same argument could be applied to every single laptop manufactured with the butterfly keyboard, yet Apple somehow managed to issue a replacement service for that just fine.

It's clear that there is an issue with the screens on some iPhones, but it's ridiculous to say that millions of 12s that have gone out thus far all have an issue.

All of the ones i looked at at Best Buy had the exact same issue as mine bought from Apple. That would be some coincidence. Millions have to have this issue. The yellow tint issue.

You don’t understand math.

What really sucks about the yellow tint and why it would be so hard to get used to is the fact that when you tilt your phone slightly you're reminded what colour your display should be. Tilting it a bit shows a perfect white colour.
Same problem with 11 Pro/Max, just go one year back and u will see same thing. If it is the same problem, then no software fix will resolve it.

I do not know much about display technology. Perhaps someone who does can attempt to answer this question: Is it possible that not all the manifestations of the yellow tint issue discussed here are due to the same problem? It occurs to me that the varying degrees of the yellow tint issue could be explained by different combinations of the following potential problems:

1) Poor defect inspection that allows the use of substandard display panels.
2) Allowance of overly wide manufacturing variances on the display panels.
3) Display panels not being calibrated or being improperly calibrated.
4) An aggressive auto-brightness configuration that changes the display’s white point at lower ambient light levels.
5) An improper True Tone configuration for the current display panels. (Enabling True Tone makes the display of my iPhone 12 Pro Max simply unbearable.)
6) Display settings improperly transferred from backups.

This issue seems to be extremely widespread, with multiple replacements and checking other 12 PM devices I have yet to see and find a single good one matching my previous XS and 11 Pro Max, they are all yellow tinted and have greenish gray with some slight variances. Most of them even have problems with raised blacks and flicker at low brightness as well.
So far the bad screens are far more common than good ones and that most people don't seem to notice it at all, don't care or think it's actually better.

I am Japanese living in Japan.
I bought an iphone12pm on the day of release.
Mine also had a yellow screen.
When I'm watching a video, the black background blinks green.
I had it replaced last week and nothing has changed.
I don't know what to do other than cry.
Can you link us to a video that does it? I was able to reproduce on my first 12 PM, but my replacement 12 PM doesn’t seem to have the raised blacks issue.

Hmmm. Maybe because this is the 1st year I’ve purchased current generation. I still think the iPhone 12 is a much bigger problem this time.

If this is an issue with the entire 12 lineup they should recall all the affected devices, I remember Benz motors doing a recall just to preserve their brand value and isn’t brand loyalty of the customers is what helped apple  reach the place they are at today 🥸
