That is exactly what happened to me when I went to Costco the past weekend. The iPhone 12 Pro Max in the store was exactly like that compared to my yellow-tinted iPhone 12 Pro Max. And that was the reason why I returned it. SO, how is that for those who said that a warmed and dimmed display is Apple's intention for the iPhones this year?

Lol here is what I don't get, how does Costco get all these great displays? This is like the 3rd post where someone found a great display at Costco.

I went to Costco, and the demo had a fantastic 12 screen.

Morale of the story: get your 12 at Costco.

I tried. All gone. No more in stock locally.

Did you check the serial number?

Exactly what I was saying few pages ago. I had the same comparison situation between my 12 yellow Pro Max and the clean white 12 of my friend. That's exactly why I returned mine, and think as of now it's hardware.

Of course this is a hardware problem. Such a difference is not possible because we all have the same IOS. I hope Apple will recall all yellow iphones to exchange them. They had already done this before for all the defective batteries of the 6s.

Google translates tells me that #4621 is in French. Here’s the translation to save you a click

Good morning all,

I followed your discussion a bit on this famous iPhone screen which is very bad this year, it must be admitted.

I myself bought an iPhone 12 on the AUCHAN.fr site (my French friends will recognize it) and guess what? The screen was very yellowish.
It's quite disturbing for someone like me who works with the Lightroom app on my phone to do photo editing.

So I decided to go to an Apple Store or one of the employees to compare mine with his and to our surprise, his was a perfect and beautiful white unlike mine which was yellow and dull ... I put you a photo that I took because it was amazing. As you will see with the same setting, its screen has nothing to do with mine.

So for all of those who say it's an Apple drive to make screens hotter this year, I don't agree, otherwise why are there iPhones with a nice, well-calibrated and bright screen?

Finally, I made an exchange that I just received this evening and my faith I find it not too bad even compared to my iPhone 7 it is slightly more yellow.

I will try to make a comparison photo of the new one I received with the one from the Apple Store employee that I will post on the forum.

I also point out that both phones in the photo have the same serial number starting with FF something and the one I just received as well.

Here I also wanted to share my experience

Oui désoler mon traducteur était activé lorsque j'ai écrit le poste. En effet ça ramène un peu de diversité dans ce forum et prouve aussi que l'on est tous touché par ce phénomène de teinte jaune 😄
Je vous en prie 😉

I went into the Apple store in the UK today to complain about the yellow hue to the screen and the flickering blacks issue. Straight away they dismissed the yellow problem, on the basis that all of the other phones in the store are of the same / very similar hue (which they were) and I felt that they were already well rehearsed in what to say.

So, I focussed on the flickering screen problem. The guy went into the back 4 times to test my phone "in a dark room" and it came back, claiming that he couldn't see it. I was confused by this, so later this evening I tested it again myself and it is blatantly obvious.

I was told by the store manager that I would need to create a video of the phone showing the flashing black, as evidence. The problem is, this is next to impossible to record, unless you have an excellent second camera. To the naked eye, even my elderly mother can see it!

I'm not sure what approach to take with them next.

in fact I have an appointment at the apple store next week to show the green tint but I'm sure they'll pretend nothing has happened and tell me it's all normal

At most they will offer a replacement. If you’re looking for something more than that, I wouldn’t waste my time going in.

Guys I'm on like replacement #10. All different weeks and different factories.

They've all been nearly the same. Just different brightnesses and grey uniformities.

Same colors.

How have they let you replace it so many times? Most stores would shut you down by now... or accept a return and not let you buy again.

They’re all yellow as far as I’ve seen. Can someone post a pic of some of these miracle 12s at Costco? If Apple really does change production so that all future phones aren’t yellow, then they definitely need to start a program to return current 12s with defective screens

Just do an online chat. I don't go in the store anymore for slight screen issues.

Oddly enough, the guy at the Apple store advised me to do this also. He said that I could contact the online team to express my dissatisfaction with the phone and I'm more likely to get a replacement, since it was purchased online at launch day. Apparently, the store itself manages different stock and they are instructed to only replace unless the can reliably replicate the problem.

It's frustrating and I can kind of see where they are coming from. I just have to go about this the right way.

Just return it and ask for a refund. Then buy a new one. That's what I did - to no avail.

So went to Apple store yesterday and was very impressed with the service. The Genius Bar guy compared to his phone and said it did look just slightly dimmer, the lighting in store does make it a lot harder to compare but swapped it for new one no issues.
He said it could have been something to do with the coating they apply to the screen (sounded like a totally guess)
Anyway happy with service and the new model, whites seem more white and overall more crisp, slightly brighter display :)

Can you guys test something for me, search for a message in the mail app across all mailboxes then open one of the found items. My screen is grey and dim except for the found message, is yours the same?

Edit: 14.3 and the issue does not appear in screenshots, third pic is screenshot showing it should all be the same color...
I would say this is normal

In the description of the 12 pro max on Apples Website I don’t see any mention of Retina or Super Retina or OLED screen
Strange as Apple usually brags about their screen
Other than’ Ceramic screen’ there’s no mention Why??

I don’t know where you looked but there you‘ll find it as usual. Super Retina XDR and OLED, all marketing buzzwords being mentioned.
What are you missing? ;)

Don't know what apple did. Even with truetone off my iPhone 12 mini sometimes is more yellow and sometimes is more blue. It seems like turetone is not completely off.

That’s normal. When environment light is more blue, it will look more yellow and the opposite. True Tone is intended to compensate that, but iPhone 12s True Tone I tested is terribly aggressive in low light.
