Do most of you use TT on or off? Night shift on or off? I’m not sure which settings get the best battery life. I turned off automatic for light and dark screens. It does seem like TT drains battery faster. I have 12 pro Max

well after “settling” for a yellow screen, I think my phone screen might’ve gotten better or I’ve adjusted to it. Now that I’m not putting it side by side next to my X it looks perfectly fine.
Honestly I’ve been putting it thru it’s paces and I do think the screen changes with use.

This is coming from a huge stickler for a perfect screen (ordered 5 phones to check).

The chances of getting a good 11 Pro Max are better than getting a good 12 Pro Max right now. People exchanging their phones or buying for first time are still mostly getting a 12 Pro Max with issues (yellow or green tint on screen, uneven screen, raised blacks) and no fix or response from Apple. Still, if you can return your phone for exchange or refund within 14 days why not take a chance on the 12. It's a great phone otherwise and you may get lucky. It also depends on your tolerance. A warm screen does not seem to be noticeable or seem to bother many and if you aren't watching videos in low light at night, the raised blacks may not be a big issue either. Good luck with your decision.
Wait im confused
the yellow/green issues is this with True Tone on or off? Also is it with auto brightness on or off? Because I normally leave True Tone and auto brightness off....

Ah right thanks for the clarification. I don’t believe my screen has that issue, as if I enable reader view on a website and enable dark mode (so the background behind the text is pure black), by zooming into an area where there’s no text the screen is completely black, even with the display on full brightness. However, if I do the same thing with the screen on minimum brightness, I can notice a very slight hint of light coming from the screen ... but it’s extremely faint.

That aside, everything definitely has a greenish tint at very low brightness levels - to the point where the screen almost looks monkchromatic ... but with faint green instead of white! 😤
I don’t think you do the right thing to check raised blacks. You need to play the video from the very first post of this thread: https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/iphone-12-pro-raised-blacks-display.2263200/

Make sur you are in a dark room and that your eyes get used to the dark first. Play this video at 25% and 50% brightness. You will probably see that blacks are not black and maybe see it flickering. Touch the screen as it is when you will see those green/grey flashed. Report back on that specific thread instead of this one. Thx.

For those who say OLED whites aren’t whites, look at this gorgeous “white” SAMSUNG oled panel
(Didn’t had extra phones for side by side comparison when clicked the snap)

Am not familiar with Samsung phones. Is that a burn in or is it just a transparent interface?
Btw when someone sends only one photo, the camera changes colours. Could you maybe compare it to an iPhone 12/pro? Would be very helpful

Yep, that’s a burn 🔥 in...always used on 100% brightness
Samsung Galaxy S8 on left, iPhone 12 Pro Max center, iPhone 6s Plus right, all on 50 % brightness 🔅 and True Tone off

can you explain better? It is possible your eyes has been used to it but if you say that now compared to X it has been improved it’s something real.

you ordered 5 and choose the best one?

I’m not enthusiastic if yellow screens of the 12 series but this professional tv calibrator and reviewer has confused me. I trust 100% in his opinion. He is a great professional.
Here is comparing iPhone 12pro with a professional calibrated Sony monitor. At least, interesting.

I ve seen this video too. There is a small catch here... he compared the hdr calibration, which I really think is perfect. I believe it’s the non hdr version we are currently complaining about considering that we can’t force iphone to hdr mode

I’m talking about color calibration that appears to be spot on.

Comparison (whites) between Galaxy S20 and my iPhone 12. Both whites and greys almost identical (I have no photo of the grey comparison atm but trust me).

guys my iPhone is still in service but not so much for the yellowish screen as for the green tint and the pixels that do not go out .. anyway I have a corporate iPad that I only use for work and last night I updated it to 14.0. 1, maybe it will seem absurd but after the update it seems to be less bright and with more yellowish colors

What does Apple say when you return 4 phones ?

I asked him if his iPhone looked yellow and he said, “It’s accurate to D65 white.”

nothing. I purchased them all brand new off of apple.com. I was well within my return period.

It's obviously within your right i was just curious if they would accuse you of abusing their return policy or something since i've heard stories of people being flagged for returning too many items but probably not only 4.

understood. I just told them I didn't need them anymore, no questions asked actually.
