Aren’t all the pro models using a Samsung panel?haha figured
I think its interesting whether you got LG or Samsung, but beyond that, yeah a roll of the dice

Conflicting reports out there, heard the pro models are Samsung panels, then next minute pro max and mini using Samsung panels. 🤔🤦♂️😂good question not sure
I dunno what the breakdown is of each model, but id be curious about that too![]()
sweet how
Tip of the day. Use build in Files app in iPhone. You do not need to transfer it to another machine.I ran sysdiagnose and sent it to my other iPhone. My Mac is older and airplay doesn’t work
saw this post on GSM arena, might've already been mentioned not sure how true
Prefix G9N: Samsung Good Grade panel (Very low chance of being a bad panel).
Prefix G9P: Samsung Poor Grade Panel (Moderate chance of being a bad panel).
Prefix GVC: LG Good Grade Panel (Moderate chance of being a bad panel).
Prefix GH: LG Poor Grade Panel (High chance of being a bad panel).
In terms of panel quality and likelihood for not have a green tint:
Samsung Good > LG Good > Samsung Bad > LG Bad.

Interesting they put LG Good before Samsung Bad serial #, odds wise.
And also interesting the 'poor' panel LG has high chance whereas Samsung 'poor' is only moderate
...if this is a reality, I have no idea. But that to me means there's more LG lemons by this logic.
Still probably lots of lemons of both types to go around, and excellent of both, and poor ones that pass flying colors like mine, and 'good grade' that fail every test, and same with LG.
it's fun to learn mine is Samsung. but if I learnt it were LG, I would still sing my praises about this particular panel. Months later, its still a beauty!
Hard to say for use but it looks it might have some relevance from what I have seen myself is that in 6.1's G9N seems rare. Originally ordered two 6.1" Pro's for me and another family member. One came with G9P and the other with G9N.Thats all fake news created by delirious posters.
I have a G9P (iPhone 12 pro) and a G9Q iPhone 12 pro max. Both are uniform I’ve had no problems with the screen except the G9P 12 pro displays raised black and green tint. My G9Q doesn’t have the green tint nor the raised black issue, but I’ll constantly check if it would have the issue after a while.Hard to say for use but it looks it might have some relevance from what I have seen myself is that in 6.1's G9N seems rare. One with G9P was terrible, non uniform with dimmer bottom half and greenish compared to upper half but it had rather cool whites. Another one with G9N has perfect uniformity, absolutely perfect! It is a bit on the warm side (probably something some peoples would call yellow), but seems rather accurate D65 to me.
Then I tried replace one with G9P and all 4 I tried came always with G9P and all had more or less bad uniformity, it only changed place which part was dimmer (upper or lower) and there was always different tint between up/bottom.
Also went to check demo units in my local store and all I could find looked similar as my G9P and I then even ran checks to see what panel was in and it was G9P in all of them. So again, this is my experience with limited sample (around dozen) and only one of the screens was acceptable in my opinion (G9N).
Anyway, my point for those who want cooler display and do not care about screen brightness or tint uniformity, look for G9P. I would have preferred G9N myself but after too many attempts trying to get one failed...
I'd take one like the other phone we got in first order with G9N anyday.
I'm talking about Pro in 6.1" size. It might be different case with Max sized screens.
Have you actually looked for uniformity issues with different ways? I mean I know most peoples are immune to uniformity issues and they only notice and see them when I actually point them out what to look for but even then most do not think it is bothering them.I have a G9P (iPhone 12 pro) and a G9Q iPhone 12 pro max. Both are uniform I’ve had no problems with the screen except the G9P 12 pro displays raised black and green tint.
Sounds like G9Q is pretty identical to G9N and I agree even N is on the warm side and (perhaps some call it yellow) it is very pleasing to eye and easy to watch. Every G9P I have seen are pretty cool white, more or less even bluish with TT and NS off. But every P I've tried have issues with uniformity from noticeable to terrible, Very obvious to see if turning on NS and adjust temp slider to warmest possible. Some have practically red half screen or some have narrow part of the long end or then just reddish corner. And each one had either dimmer bottom or upper half, usually it seem to be bottom for some reason. Tip, turn the phone to landscape position and it is easy to see if upper/bottom is different then. N is just perfect but I just could not find one.The G9P screen seem whiter/cooler though while the G9Q is a little bit warmer but in a good way, like, it was relaxing in the eye, not too yellow and not too blue, for me, just perfect. I’ve read from a post that G9Q is quite rare too, I’m not sure if true though.
How did it just aged better? By itself? Do u have the same opinions about G6 models. My girlfriend has a 12 pro max G9N since the day of departure. I have a G9Q and my screen has aged much better, it is noticeably whiter and the texts look cleaner.
I would not know how to describe it but the G9N read the "thicker" texts and in my G9Q the texts are clearer, I would not know how to describe it but I totally stay with the G9Q panel.

LOL @ your last paragraph , I think Apple got their True Tone and nightshift done wrong, look identical.I just got iPhone 12 Pro Max day before yesterday, right away I was disturbed by the yellow tint 😫 I remember reading how superbly colour accurate iPhones are, how can anybody use one like that, it's so weird to take photos, everything tinted yellow, when I transfer the photos to my new iMac (27 2020) colour look accurate to reality, my previous over 5 years old 150$ android phone (Meizu M2 Note) display match the iMac display, what a disappointment...
Ridiculous that turning on true tone makes the display even more yellow like night shift even tho in my room I have cool daylight lightbulbs, with them on turning on true tone on iMac it does nothing (it does work appropriately if I turn the main cool bulbs off and instead have lamp with warm bulb on).
All the settings in accessibility, display and text should be off apart from auto brightness if you use that feature.I've been faffing about with the accessibility colour settings for the past couple of hours and have come to the conclusion that the colour my phone shipped with was perfect. How do I just reset the colour profile to the 'default' setting? Thanks.
Yep, like I mentioned many posts ago. Samsung OLED panels year on year have increased blue light filter which results in layman's terms looking yellower. The same yellowish tint is present on the new Samsung Galaxy S21 line up. This is how these OLED displays are supposed to look (for whatever reason). This is not a defect or software “issue” that’s going to be “fixed” by an update.
Either switch to an LCD iPhone or learn to live with it.
Which is fine, but please explain why are some displays MUCH more yellow than others despite the same phone model? +-10% manufacturing variances is a hell of a lot when you are talking about white point.Yep, like I mentioned many posts ago.
