Its called Tolerances.Which is fine, but please explain why are some displays MUCH more yellow than others despite the same phone model? +-10% manufacturing variances is a hell of a lot when you are talking about white point.

The acceptable tolerance level spiel is what manufactures call it when their QC dept have been napping and they do not want to accept responsibility - the acceptable levels should simply not be this high on a a $1200 device. Its called Tolerances.
Ok, you're entitled to your opinion as I am. How is the tolerance levels on the glass gaps for you?Have you tried putting paper in the gaps? The acceptable tolerance level spiel is what manufactures call it when their QC dept have been napping and they do not want to accept responsibility - the acceptable levels should simply not be this high on a a $1200 device.
When the customers you are selling it to cannot tolerate it, I'd argue it should be called something else (maybe a royal f%^kup).
Sure, maybe I could pick apart the other parts of the phone given time, but seeing as the screen is only part of the phone in view 100% of the time, and the "stellar screen" is one of the biggest selling points, its the only part that concerns me currently (and what this thread is about).Ok, you're entitled to your opinion as I am. Going by your other posts, you appear not to want a bright, neutral display on any of your devices anyhow and prefer a darked tinted bright green hue (from your screenshots)- that's what should be the option though with neutral being default.
I have yet to see any coverage in the media of this 'issue'. Given the tens of millions of iPhone 12s sold, if this is really a big thing, it should be plastered all over the news. Since it's not, I'm going to assume that: A. It really isn't an issue. B. The customers they are selling to CAN tolerate it.When the customers you are selling it to cannot tolerate it, I'd argue it should be called something else (maybe a royal f%^kup).
Thanks mateThats all fake news created by delirious posters.
Hi mate what about the G9Q panel some people are talking about, what grade is thatsaw this post on GSM arena, might've already been mentioned not sure how true
Prefix G9N: Samsung Good Grade panel (Very low chance of being a bad panel).
Prefix G9P: Samsung Poor Grade Panel (Moderate chance of being a bad panel).
Prefix GVC: LG Good Grade Panel (Moderate chance of being a bad panel).
Prefix GH: LG Poor Grade Panel (High chance of being a bad panel).
In terms of panel quality and likelihood for not have a green tint:
Samsung Good > LG Good > Samsung Bad > LG Bad.
--
Interesting they put LG Good before Samsung Bad serial #, odds wise.
And also interesting the 'poor' panel LG has high chance whereas Samsung 'poor' is only moderate
...if this is a reality, I have no idea. But that to me means there's more LG lemons by this logic.
Still probably lots of lemons of both types to go around, and excellent of both, and poor ones that pass flying colors like mine, and 'good grade' that fail every test, and same with LG.
it's fun to learn mine is Samsung. but if I learnt it were LG, I would still sing my praises about this particular panel. Months later, its still a beauty!
Some say it is better than a G9P panel and the same as G9N quality (which was said to be the best panel). I have a G9Q panel on my 12 PM and I can say, I have a good screen if not perfect. Uniform, bright, not too yellow and not too blue, I don’t see any raised black or green tint at all. Others say G9Q is also a rare panel, but I am not sure about that yet unless of course confirmed by the manufacturer or if there are strong proofs that the panel is indeed rare. Thanks mate
I’ve read g9n is a good and g9p is bad but no mention of g9q? Anyone have an answer as to what grade this is

Based on what i’ve experience (i’m from AUS) i have had a G9N (38th Week) from launch day which was yellow and had green tint on boot and returned that and purchased another G9N (42nd Week) less yellow and less green tint but returned it because still had flickering. I waited till end of December and purchased 2 iphones from two separate stores (couple days apart) and got G9Q (48th week) for both (one had serial number F2L and G0ND) which was whiter than both my previous G9N. Both does not have green tint or black flickering at low levels. However they are not pure “blue” whites like previous years but still very eye pleasing (at first i disliked the displays but after receiving later batches of these phones i now prefer them) compared to the previous 12pm i returned.Hi mate what about the G9Q panel some people are talking about, what grade is that
Just wondering cause you mentioned it...Based on what i’ve experience (i’m from AUS) i have had a G9N (38th Week) from launch day which was yellow and had green tint on boot and returned that and purchased another G9N (42nd Week) less yellow and less green tint but returned it because still had flickering. Before returning the extra G9Q that i had. I wanted to make sure so i purchased another and received a G9N (49th week) and it was slightly more yellow than both the G9Q. It was not as obvious like the first two G9N i return but was noticeable if you compared them side by side to the G9Q.
I hope this helps!

You didn’t experience any issues of raised blacks on all the phones you had except on your second one?
As for the panel type I can confirm that my G9Q looks very good overall. Usual warmer calibration compared to previous models but far from “yellow”. Nice colors, sharp and uniform.
But I don’t think this info is worth anything, cause for every good G9N, G9P oder G9Q you find someone with a ****** panel with the same SN.
My first G9N (on launch day) had raised blacks on youtube videos at around 30% and below with the volume bar illuminating when changing volumes but wasn’t apparent on safari youtube. Other than that the rest of my devices that i have received did not have the black flickering or raised blacks when viewing a black imageJust wondering cause you mentioned it...

No. Serial number have no relevance with panels. My serial number starts with f2 and has the g9n panel.Thank you mate, I appreciate it.
I just checked my panel is G9N and I confirm it is not yellow nor blue, it’s also uniform and pictures look also the correct colour whether indoor under lights or daytime mostly. I had two previous phones 12 pro max and they had yellow tint and every picture looked slightly off white compared to how this looks. I didn’t check the other panel because I didn’t know how but I didn’t like it as the other iPhone 12 in my home had more accurate colours in photos and it was blatantly noticeable. I am happy with this one and my serial no starts with G6 I wonder does that have any relevance with the panels
Which production week is it?Decided to hop back into the lottery and try a new 12PM since it’s been four months. I’d say the screen is actually more yellow than my launch unit. It doesn’t have any raised black issues like the last one though. I had to throw back on the color filter options to make the screen look similar to my 7+ LCD.
Honestly I’m probably just going to return this one too. It’s nice this one doesn’t have the raised blacks (so that seems like a hardware defect to me) but the screen is oof. It looks fine with the filters on I guess (side by side, it’s just a slightly brighter version of my 7+ screen) but I’ll always have that feeling in the back of my mind that I have color filters on.
It’s wild Apple marketed the display as a selling point and it’s so mediocre. I don’t think I’m going to get another one. Ill just wait a bit after the 13’s launch and see if it’s any better than....this, especially for $1,200.

You don’t need a Windows computer. You can do everything right from your phone. Take a look at post #6265.I’m not sure and I don’t have a windows device to download that program from pages and pages ago.
It’s unfortunate that you are out of your return window, because that’s absolutely the strongest response possible. Look at it from Apple’s perspective: The 12 models just smashed sales expectations, so is there really a problem here? They will only listen to the bottom line.Serious question: what can we do about this issue?
I bought an iPhone 12 mini as a proper upgrade for me (I had an iPhone 6s prior so it was way overdue ... ) and now I’m stuck with this utter **** panel. I’m literally ashamed over having bought this. Never thought I’d say that about an Apple product. I’ve been trying to get used to it but on the other hand why should I?
Hi mate
just wondering what is raised black I keep reading, maybe I could check it on my phone
