Apologies for these being the worst photos ever, as they were taken with a webcam in PhotoBooth with only three seconds of timer prep time after clicking the capture button, since I was chatting with Apple Support at the time and they asked if I had any other device I could take a comparison photo with, and that was all I had at the time.

*takes breath*

However, in both photos you can see a color cast on the 14 Pro, compared to my previous 13 Pro. The 13 Pro in person does not look like it has more red in it. But the whites look tinged and in some cases a little muddy. I was showing my friend who was there when it was delivered, and comparing several different apps side-by-side, and in one (I think it was Settings or Calendar) he literally made the comment that the 14 Pro screen looked "old".

In all honesty I don’t know the reason to this. It could be reduced OLED blue light filters during manufacturing by Samsung Electronics. That’s what my research has concluded.I’m referring it True Tone also being turned off in all case comparison scenarios.

I think a slightly warmer display is ok and displays colors more accurately than a blue hue display but to a point. After a certain point it’s just losing panel lottery where it’s jaundice-y and takes away from the pop of the display’s colors, dulling them.

There’s natural colors then there’s just dull imo.

I’ve embraced TrueTone and indeed it can really get aggressive at times. 😭😂

Just dropping by to say my 14 Pro Max has a superb display, as did my 13 Pro.

The absence of activity in this thread lately seems to suggest the 12 series were just a real duffer display wise.

Buy a 14 Pro with confidence I reckon.
Same here, iPhone 14 PM has excellent white and black levels and uniformity. The screen is excellent this time. At least for the first production lot.

I’m finding that my 14 Pro Max has more of a red tint to the screen than my 13 Pro Max. Very noticeable when comparing side by side but hoping it’s something I’ll not notice when using the 14PM exclusively.

Anybody seeing similar on their 14?

I preferred my 13Pro Max display. The new 14Pro Max I have received is not ‘bad’, but definitely a bit more yellowish than the other. Unfortunately not enough to convince me to try the lottery swap.

I remember the same thing when I compared my 13 PM to my 12 PM last year. And probably the same this year. I’m sure it subsided after a few months of use.
All in all I’m happy.

Going back to 13PM?

Honestly if I had a good unit 13pm I probably wouldn’t upgrade. But from a 12 pro it seems different enough to me :D even though 12 pro is still an excellent device as well

Nope sticking to this 14PM! I like to change it every year. I know it’s useless but it’s one of my passions and hopefully after a few weeks it settles (or I won’t notice anymore).

My 14 pro max is a little warmer but more uniform. My 13 pro max on the other hand has a tiny bit of burn in after a year

Coming from an iPhone 12 mini to the 14 Pro it’s lovely and white. Made me realise how good it is to not have the sepia tone I’d been living with for the past few years.

With True Tone on my phone is a little yellow, with it off it’s a little blue.

Meh. Whatever it is, I get used to it.
Just saw a weird thing. My screen just did a huge jump from quite blue to quite yellow.

I wonder if True Tone is a bit buggy at the moment.

it is encouraging we aren't seeing an onslaught of issues so maybe the panel lottery odds are much better this go round in general.

I figured we would have over the weekend. Not that there aren't any dud displays, a couple have been posted, but.

I’ve figured out what’s up with my 14 pro max display. Whilst it’s calibrated and looks the same as my 13 Pro, True Tone is just incredibly slow to respond when coming out of sleep / AOD.

On my 13 Pro it was so quick I never noticed.

With my 14 Pro when waking the phone from AOD, it can be very yellow in an environment where it shouldn’t and takes about 10 seconds to slowly adjust.

It’s very noticeable but I am hopeful it’s a bug.

Yeah always nice if it’s other people too. Less likely to be hardware. Seems to be the system slow on responding, then responds fast.

It’s just a bug man. I can get mine to do the same by putting it to sleep and waking it up to a white screen.

I’ve definitely noticed that my 14 screen is a bit uneven. The top part seems a little more warm than the bottom. Most people I show it to say they can’t see the problem but compared to my 13 which was perfect I definitely see it. Can’t return anymore since I’m passed the 14 days so my only option is for a repair which sucks

Same here, tried two 14 PM and both have uneven screen. One in the top part, the other in the bottom. Same to me, the people can't see the problem, but copared to my previous 13Pm that wa completely uniform it's a bit annoying. I think i'll swap.

Yes 13 Pro had more green tint. 14 Pro is going slighty into red. But in my opinion better than the green tint.

Let us know if the new one you get still has the same issue
