Well got my callback. They wanted to go over how to use night shift and True Tone. The support woman was really nice, and offered to setup an appointment on Sunday to have a genius look at my phone, so went ahead and did that. Hoping for a possible exchange, although I’m past my 2 week return window (unless exchanges extend that?)
UNBELIEVABLE! I normally would have laughed at this, but I can understand how incredibly frustrated you must have felt hearing that.

Folks, I still see people with high hopes of this being fixed through a software update. Do not think that, you are setting yourselves up for a huge disappointment. If you are not happy, exchange it or return it.

Apple has fixed the non-responsiveness of the 12 Mini and will likely fix the raised blacks issue, but they have never addressed yellow tinted screens which would honestly be the easiest to fix by just adding a setting for users to adjust color profiles (like on a Mac). They haven't and there is a 99% chance that they won't, regardless if this year appears to be worse than others.

If you do the color tint trick and add a little night shift (slight warm) it should match up pretty close to the last generation. At first I was unsatisfied with the color tint settings as it made it too blue / washed out. However, leaving night shift permanently on (to add a little bit of yellow into the mix) got me a good result I am happy with.

Obviously not ideal that Apple is not addressing the problem. During my call with Apple they said that engineers determined that the screen is functioning as intended.

At the end of the day the best we can do is cope with the reality of the situation. The following steps made me somewhat content.

Well...add me to the list.
just got my 12 Pro last night
Looks like cr@p.
very yellow /brown tint

here is comparison photo of my Xr with exact same settings and brightness level

i have tried with True Tone on/off
auto brightness on/off

ugh...this is not a warmth calibration...it just looks awful, not because the kelvin is lower

I recieved a 12 Pro Max that also had a pretty bad yellow tint. First iPhone I've ever bought that has had issues. It was the very first thing I noticed when seeing the setup assistant. It nearly made me believe that the night shift was pre-enabled.
It also have a slight green gray ish tint during dark mode at the lowest brithness level, not the enitre screen, mostly on the middle to the top.

Spoke with Apple customer service yesterday and today, they are going to replace it.
if I were you I would take advantage of the extended holiday return and wait till the first week of January to make an exchange to make sure I get a real late batch for best chance to get a legit panel.

I think that's where i'm at too. I'm not happy, at all, but the trouble has been more disruptive than the issue at this point. I picked up a new device today and it's almost identical, not worth the trouble of transferring everything and wasting the screen protector.

The only thing about the color tint that annoys me is when I take a screenshot, for some reason, it reverts to the old screen colors and it reminds me that my display is messed up and yellow lol

Nope. Disagree with you. Use the color filter band aid until Then. this is to take advantage of the extended return period to separate your next device as far down the road as you can from launch day. the idea is based on the assumption that only the first batches were the most problematic and didn’t survive the quality control process because they had to whip out as much supply as possible to meet demand

Not OP but i'm on the iPhone upgrade program and if I were to wait until then, I would be paying $120 of non-refundable payments. It also puts me behind on the update schedule which means if I wanted to upgrade next year on launch day, i'd have to pay cough up 2 extra months.

To warm and Yellow
Even the Macs are a cooler color. While a little yellow might be good for your eyes......This iPhone Pro Max 12 is bad on my eyes

Left is the X I got as a replacement for a battery issue. Right is the 12 pro Max I received today as a replacement for the cell modem issue. Hmmm...I guess since I use Dark Mode, I didn't notice the yellowish tint of the X.

“Just get it over with”

aka: just swap it over and over again until you give up anyway.

Almost no one in this thread that started exchanging has gotten one that has been better than what they started with.

Are you happy with the screen or think you can live with it for a coupoe months? Wait until jan.

Can’t? Return, ask for refund and don’t buy another 12, as they all have display issues.

I have 11 PM and 12 PM. Before 14.2.1, 12PM was considerably more yellow with all settings.
After 14.2.1 there is practially no any difference between the screens if True tone is turned off. If True tone is turned on, 12 PM is still a bit more yellow.

I’ve used then color tint trick for a while on my 11 (that was warmer than X) then I gave up because it make the the screen less brighter and crip.

the condo of filter plus night shift could be a good idea.

are you noticing the same drop of brightness?

I hear you, but at the moment they're all the same. I tried 4 so far. And they were all pretty much the same. So there are only 2 choices: 1 - return the phone now and get one in January (hopefully by then they fix the problem). In the meantime carry on with your older iPhone 2 - use the new one and hold tight until January.

This app seems real sketch.
This video shows you how to figure out. No one knows for sure whether all Pro screens have Samsung panels this year. I know that was true back in the X days because Samsung was the only OLED supplier for iPhone then, but now we know LG is making some panels, but Apple never says whether LG panels are only being used in non-Pro models.
I downloaded 3utools from 3u.com. It is in english and a quick google seemed positive. Mine starts with G9P and according to the video is a Samsung Poor grade panel :-(. No wonder it didn't impress, though I am getting used to it and doesn't seem to have uneven colouring. Just glow, yellow tint and not as vibrant as a Iphone 7 LCD.

My 11 Pro (5.8”) on the left and the 12 Pro Max on the right. I think I’m going to stick with the 11 Pro to be honest. It’s been my favourite iPhone, battery is excellent. I’ve found the 12 PM to be a bit underwhelming to be honest, the ”dirty” screen just tops it off.
Returned my 12 Pro Max. Not acceptable that for £1100 I have to resort to turning off True Tone to negate a dull, yellow tinged screen. Sticking with my 11 Pro (5.8).

Same here! Just returned my 12PM as well. Either I’ll go with an 11 this year either I’ll change brand . I’ll give myself few weeks to decide .
Very disappointed

Where is this information shown on 3utools?

I will give Apple the chance to fix it... Will contact support today. Everyone with this issue should contact support, to increase heaviness of this problem.

If they won't fix it (with software or hardware), I will return mine as well. :-/

It seems that 14.2.1 fixed bug in 12 Mini lockscreen.
Now we are waiting for yellow screen fix, but as i see that will never be fixed with update. Hardware defect 99%.
Why noone have in-stock new iPhones, what is happening, very strange. I checked UK, USA, Germany...noone.
Delivery 2-3 weeks in every place, zero in the stores.

They are aware of the issue maybe?

It seems that 14.2.1 fixed yellow tint for me, so now if I disable true tone then I get yellow tint like I had before the update, If I enable true tone than it looks good!
