I had an appointment at the Apple store today. My screen is definitely yellow and less bright compared to my iPhone 8 Plus, iPad Air 3 and MacBook Pro 2020 (which all look extremely similar).

The first guy looked at it and took it to the back "to have it checked". He came back and said the 12 series displays are "supposed to be warmer than previous models". We took it downstairs to compare it to others, and even the first phone we tried looked different to mine (a tiny bit different color and definitely brighter). So he said yeah, he can see that.
He took it to the back again and came back with the store manager or whatever who compared it to his own 12 Pro (non-Max) which looked just as bad as mine color-wise and even less bright. So he said yeah, mine is normal and within spec.

No mention of any known issue, they didn’t even suggest using the color filter in settings as a workaround. This was in Germany btw.

I have until Jan 8 to return it so I guess I’ll order one off Amazon and hope it gets here before then so I can compare. Not sure what I’ll do, if both are the same or the other one is worse I guess I’ll send both back and use my 8 Plus until it dies 🤔

Maybe, but mostly because I can't read Chinese. I ran it in Bootcamp on my older Mac that I don't use much just to be safe.
Yeah the installation on Mac is what scares me, since it asks you to install via terminal and force a developer certification with it.

if you google the website i4.cn you'll find some reports about malware distribution in apps/software from this chinese website.

I’ve been through 4 Pro Max phones now. I give up.
In order:
1. Had blue tint when phone put on an angle. Half the display became tinted.
2. really green tint top half of display when at minimum brightness.
3. Same as above
4. Much better, slight green tint from bottom and towards the right, and extreme left side of display is normal.

I simply cannot be bothered swapping anymore. I’ll see how everyone is doing here in late Dec or early Jan before I decide to check out a swap again.

This is ridiculous now

Yikes. Probably wouldn't have installed it had I known that. It installs an app on your phone when you connect it by the way.

Just watched interesting video regarding green tint issue. Seems like there are issues with pannels not software:
You should remove this as this app installs spyware on your computer/phone

I recieved a 12 Pro Max that also had a pretty bad yellow tint. First iPhone I've ever bought that has had issues. It was the very first thing I noticed when seeing the setup assistant. It nearly made me believe that the night shift was pre-enabled.
It also have a slight green gray ish tint during dark mode at the lowest brithness level, not the enitre screen, mostly on the middle to the top.

Spoke with Apple customer service yesterday and today, they are going to replace it.

I really doubt that they will be able to fix it. Since there are obviously different panels build in.

I have my callback this evening so I’ll be very curious to see what they say.
I've had few callbacks and they went over all the full reset, blank setup, TT off, night shift, etc etc
Then put me on hold because "they have to talk with senior advisor"
Comes back and tell me engineer team is looking into it
time spent: ~1 hour and was supposed to call me back on Tuesday but haven't heard back from them
and all I wanted was express replacement...

First time I called about my launch day phone, they had me do a reset, TT off, etch... At the end they told me to go the the store and get it exchanged. Exchanged unit had the same issue, thought I would give it a week and see if I got used to it.

Called again last week and they had me send in a bunch of diagnostic stuff, then upload pictures that show the screen differences with my wife's iPhone X. Said they would pass it along to the engineers and then call me back next week (which would be today).

I'm hoping it could be a software fix or express replacement. Otherwise I guess I'll wait it out until next year and get the screen replaced under warranty, since I really do like the phone aside from display issues.

Went to T-Mobile and compared my piss yellow mini to the display models.

All models were yellow like my mini, except for the iPhone 12 on display - it's display was the expected cool white/blue.

Appears that it is most definitely a lottery. No rhyme or reason. I know this has been established several times, but simply adding another data point.

I wouldn't hold my breath for anything until after the return period... the last thing Apple wants is a flood of exchanges.... IF they do anything it would probably be some screen exchange program... and thats a big IF
Yeah, definitely not holding my breath. Let’s hope they do the right thing.

You have to feel for a chap who follows a thread he’s not even interested in, or affected by, just so he can add hilarious emojis to posts by nice people who have actual issues with their device. Perhaps it gives a sense of purpose somehow. He’s in my thoughts. Do add one here if it helps...
