I'm going to return mine in 2 hours. I'll let you people know what the result is. If I don't have any luck, I'm going to call Apple.

I may end up getting one of the previous generation machines. I don't remember people complaining about uneven temperature on those machines.

Read my previous display model check post: I tried a mid. 2012 model and it suffered the exact same uneven temperature plague. So don't put your money on that one.

That's awesome!!! Guess you and I got lucky cause my screen is a Samsun and it looks just like yours ;)

If you had to be really picky, could you tell there is a very very slight "yellow"/off-white for the whites?

Got a replacement at KRCS. It had the same issue. The screen is not uniform temperature. It's bad enough to be noticeable under normal use. So, I rejected the replacement. I am now without a computer. Going to call apple and complain. If they can't guarantee me a good screen, I'm buying a PC.

Apple has gone to *****!

I don't see any uneven colouring on that screen. The temperature looks uniform compared to mine. Is the temperature indeed uniform?

That's the screen I want for the price I'm paying.

Yes, it's definitely uniform. I don't blame you, I wouldn't settle for anything less.

This thing is a really huge issue tbh.
And is on the scale of the IR problems when rMBP was launched imho.
I'm surprised it has not gotten more press.
Should be on the front page.

Well something crazy happened today. My rMBP didn't arrive (still stuck in germany) but the delivery date was always tomorrow so I guess it'll make it.

But that's not the crazy thing, today I received an email from Apple telling me that they have refunded me the cost of the laptop because they received my defective unit.

So now I'm left scratching my head because I have a new laptop coming tomorrow as a replacement, not a refund. But in my bank there is the £2,824 I paid for my laptop back in my account with no hold or anything.

I guess I'll call them later and figure out what is going on.

Yes, Macrumors should do a front page article about this.

There are so many defective units. Apple is going to get another class action law suit for sure. I have no doubt. haha

Good news. My replacement arrived today...and it has a different screen model A018 instead of A020. The screen is even and also a bit cooler :)

So there are better screens out there!!

Didn't you also get to keep your "old" rMBP until the new one arrives?
Its also possible that they do a refund, and then draw the funds again when your replacement comes.

When you say a bit cooler, does it still have a very slight yellowish tone to it? Or is yellow-free and looks more slightly blueish/grayish?

No. This is what happened, they ordered me a new notebook on Tuesday last week. I sent away my notebook on Thursday last week. Today I received back my funds, my laptop (replacement) is coming tomorrow.

So right now there is no hold on my account and the funds are back in there and they already received my defective unit back days ago.

I am still within the return period (from Costco) of a 15.6" HP laptop with the dreaded windows 8 (now 8.1). I have looked at the Macbook Pro retina and see the display problems in the Apple store units. I hate to spend near $2500 and Not be guaranteed a uniform display. The HP's Is uniform! Why does Apple have such display problems on All, it seems, it's computers? Is the display manufactured differently than say HP's?

Just got off the phone after an hour long conversation with Apple. I told them I've gone through three replacements, and that this was the last straw.

They are sending me another replacement direct from china.

It is going to be specially checked before hand to ensure there are no yellow blotches on the screen.

I can keep my current computer until it arrives.

My advice is for everyone who is getting screens with uneven temperature/yellow blotches/whatever to call apple and complain.

I'll update you when the replacement comes.

Don't forget you only hear people that have problems. People that have flawless screens and experience rarely post topics on how amazing it is, because it's how it is expected and should be.

I have no problems whatsoever and still believe it's a minority of people who are having problems with their screens.

And I also found that sometimes it gets "mental" where you think you might have a color faint or taint somewhere on the screen, while it could be the brain trying so hard to find an imperfection that you're convinced their is one.

NOTE that I'm not saying people are crazy, far from this. I totally agree with people calling for replacement, once twice and more until they have a satisfying product that meets Apple standards. I would do the same.

15" 2.6GHz 512 SSD with Samsung screen. Mine looks great!

My screen looks like this too. Is this really a perfect screen of the rMBP Haswell?

I'm still debating about whether to send it back for a replacement or keep it. If this is considered a great screen, I'm not going to get a better screen then this?

I hope it's a minority of people; I really really do. However, having gone through 3 replacements now, it is hard for me to believe that it's a minority. That is, unless all my replacements somehow came from the same bad batch, which I suppose is entirely possible.

The employee at KRCS could see that the original screen and its replacement both had uneven temperature with yellow blotches in the corners after looking at the screen for about 5 seconds. So, it's not in my head mate! Yes, I know you're not saying that it is. I just feel the need to defend myself.

I'm by nature super picky and there is no yellow of any kind as far as I can see, when I have it on full brightness it's super white completely uniformed no blotches at all, when I have the brightness a bit lower then it's a dimmer white but never yellow, keep in mind that I had to return mine 3 times till I got a perfect one, I have no yellow tint/ghost imaging and no creaking of my case and the trackpad works amazing, I'v very OCD so I don't settle for less then perfect.

Are you still within the "14 day exchange / return period?"

I am. Today is the 11th day. Gosh. Can't believe I've gone through 11 days of this. I wont be buying another computer for a long long time. haha!

Good. Well, this better be what my replacement is like.

Slight beige. Very slight.

Interestingly, im guessing Quu hasn't owned other Apple products that are "cooler". On devices like the Macbook Air, the sections where your post and others are written into, they look more gray, and practically no beige.

On "warm" screens or more "yellowish" screens, the posts appear to be more slightly beige and it becomes more pronounced. If you consider normal to not have any yellow, like the Macbook Air, then you should expect "gray" with practically no obvious beige.
