You can see on attached images some issues with yellow tint. I only saw a yellow tint on left bottom corner. It is important to point out that yellow effect is much more obvious on photos than for eyes, however, it doesn't bother me at all. Maybe If I would be a professional photographer then I could have some complains, but in my case this is not an issue. Answering on your question, I never noticed this in daily use and even after revealing this yellow tint issue in tests it doesn't bother me in my daily tasks. So, the bottom line is if you are not professional photo\video editor and are not able to notice it in daily use and never noticed it before - just relax and enjoy your rMBP. :) IMO

If yellow issue will begin to bother me I swap it out (or fix) until warranty ends.

Looks better then mine

Funny, but your display looks better in my opinion :)
Could you upload a photo with black color test ?

By the way, I performed IR test for several times and all was OK, recently I have noticed small image retention from the main menu below while switching the screens.

The point is that tomorrow will be the last day for me to return macbook back to the store, so now I am torn between returning or keeping the macbook with yellow tint issue (which I never notice in daily use). Obviously, there would be better to keep it and if the issue will getting worse go to apple service center. Am I going to make a right decision?

I have finally received my refund for my rmbp 15", with creaking and yellow screen issues.

I feel that over a month has already gone since apple updated to haswell and broad well is on its way. Do you think it's good idea to wait for broadwell? And if yes, when do you guys think apple will upgrade to it?

Wait for Broadwell? Seriously? I can't believe we're asking this....just after the Haswell update! They won't be updated until approx this time near year. And the screen issues won't be 'fixed' via Broadwell, that's a panel-related issue.

Also, "no new mobile roadmaps have yet leaked to clarify if mobile Broadwell will be available in 2014"!

Intel said last month that production will start next in early 2014.

I have a MBP that has an M as the fifth letter in the SN. Should i return it?

You should return it only if it is defective. If it is fine then keep it.

No offence to you and some of the others posting in this thread but have some of you left your brains at home? If you cannot see a defect keep the computer, god knows I'd kill to get a perfect one.

My 4th unit arrives this thursday.

The one I have is good except it has a subtle yellow tint on the bottom right hand side near the corner, would this be considered decfective? I don't know how much yellow is acceptable and how much yellow would be considered defective.

It looks good. But with all this talk about the fifth letter m being yellow, Maybe a later one will look whiter. I do love this machine.

I really don't think that the batch matters when it comes to the display screeen, these machines are exactly like last years in terms of looks the only thing that has changed is what is in the inside.

Better get cozy man. You'll be waiting a very long time. Apple will upgrade whenever enough chips (specific to their often unique requirements) are available in large enough yields. In principle, future tech will trump current stuff, often handily. Which makes it especially easy to wait just a little longer alongside Vladimir and Estragon.

Thanks, I think will keep it. I discovered that if you view the display with the clamshell opened at a perfect 45 degree angle, The display does have a bit of darkness to it that can be described as slightly yellow. If i view it on a slight tilt past the 45 degree angle, it looks ok.

For what it's worth to others reading this thread, despite the bad (sometimes numerous) issues some of these people have had, don't freak out. I picked up the top end stock MBP from Best Buy last week during the sale they ran. The screen in mine seems fine to me and was manufactured before the November time frames given in this thread as the "new batch" of better machines. I spent a few days freaking out after reading everything to the point of almost returning the machine without even opening it based on the serial number alone.

I guess I'm just saying that while everyone's experience will vary, in my experience it's not as simple as before this date = 100% crap, after this date = 100% awesome.

This isn't the correct place to ask this. Almost every person in this thread has just gotten a Haswell rMBP. And for numerous reasons they will almost never tell you to wait for Broadwell, especially as they have just gotten their new device. I'm not saying I'm different: I would do the same. It's frustrating how quickly tech advances.

Anyway, a better place to ask this question would be the "Waiting for Broadwell" thread. I will quickly some up some info for you (warning: nothing is confirmed, it's all rumour and common sense). The next rMBP will come out either in June 2014 (7 more months) or October 2014 (11 more months). For the last 5x or something, there has been a 8 month cycle, which would mean June '14. This time it all depends on Intel (broadwell) and NVIDIA (Maxwell) being ready on time. If not, October is a given. If you DON'T need a new MacBook right now and can wait 7-11 months, I would say delay your purchase. From Broadwell itself, to the new Maxwell dGPU's (could be a huge leap, 3x the performance per watt according to NVIDIA), to maybe new screen tech/resolution, and who knows what else. Chances are (high-ish) that the leap is going to be bigger to the Broadwell generation then the one from Ivy Bridge to Haswell. Do what you want and feel is right for you. But please, if you need a MacBook now, forget about what might happen in the future.

And yes, I am considering delaying my purchase for 7-11 months, but for other serious reasons then cracking and a not entirely perfect screen. My Haswell rMBP actually is quite good overall, so that's not the main reason for this.

Some Perspective on Yellow Screens

I thought you folks would get a kick out of this side-by-side comparison between my current rMBP and the 7-year-old WhiteBook I was using for the past three months. This photo was taken with both laptops showing the same, plain white wallpaper.

(Note: Brightness on the 15" was drastically reduced to match the MacBook's pathetic old backlight. And that's not a defect, but rather the reflection from a lamp you see on the left side of the retina MBP.)

Anyone else notice a difference? :D

Thanks a lot for a neutral answar mate. Right now i dont really need such a powerful laptop, as I have my iPad, I sold my old macbook few months ago for haswell, but this creaking and yellow screen makes me nervous, as I have had 4 replacements and gave up. I have money ready, I can buy now or wait, but very confuse wether to wait or not:confused:

I would +1 this post. I bought a Haswell out of need more than want. Broadwell/Maxwell promise more significant improvements... although to be fair people were saying very similar things about Haswell a year ago.

In any case, assuming Apple don't make the switch to an iGPU-only configuration for the Broadwell machines, I agree that the upgrade will probably be considerably more significant than what Haswell offers over Ivy Bridge, and would advise waiting 7-11 months if your current machine is still working well for you.

All of these photos of white screens look EXACTLY THE SAME, folks.

Smartphones are simply not equipped to capture what your eyes are seeing. Change the angle of your camera or display just slightly and your results will vary wildly. Try it! It's fun, and may help to drill home what a pointless pursuit these screen pics are...

Pure curiosity here, but what is the 5th character of your serial number this time? Is it an N? An O?
