Guys are we supposed to get a thunderbolt to ethernet included with the macbook pro? My first one came with it but this one doesn't have one. Weird.

Also, my new macbook pro has very clickity clackity keys on the keyboard, which I don't like. I am sure it wasn't that way on the first two I had. Not sure if its bothers me enough to make yet another exchange. Anyone with similar problems?

Still have to test the screen more.

hi guys i follow the exemple of gazous at max brigthness.
mine is a LG N, ordered end of november, received in december.

im coming from an ugly vaio so i cant really tell if its a keeper or not.
in my eyes i feel its decent but when i saw the pic im like mmm pretty ugly, so i need ur pro eyes on this one thanks :)

plz let me know if i should def return, i will really appreciate to have ur thoughts

The left side on the black looks off-color and uneven. If your okay with it and don't mind, keep it. If you are concerned because your not getting a Dell XPS 15 that is cheaper, and you expect to get perfection for paying much more for the retina macbook pro, then exchange.

Ok so here are a couple pics of my third mac. Again, very yellow and nastily uneven. What's worse is that the keyboard makes this very cheap sounding clicky clacky sound, which didn't exist on the first two at least I don't think.

What do you guys think of the screen? I am considering just ignoring it and keeping it.

Sad how I was promised they would check the screen. Apple sucks.

OK. Sorry for the repeated posts but Numbers and Pages are already installed on this. For my first two macs they told me I could download them (I got a message when I opened the app store) but they weren't pre-installed. Does this mean this is a used laptop? Someone reply because this is unacceptable if they sold me a returned mac.

Can we all please acknowledge that photos of screen are absolutely deceiving?

For one thing, they don't show the human-view angle.

Secondly, in many cases there is strong vignetting - creating exactly the (wrong) impression that corners have different brightness.

Many concerns in this thread are justified, but asking for judgment of one's screen by posting photos...

well i am waiting for my 5th rMBP. This will be my final attempt, before I come up with a plan B (likely a refurbished MBP). My screens have simply been unacceptable. Either relatively uniform yellow tint across the whole screen, or (even worse) color shifts across the monitor. The yellowish patches that look like staining are truly ridiculous. From the laptops I've gone through, I've seen a tendency for there to be a lot of yellowing in the bottom left quarter that shifts into a pinkish tint in the upper right quarter. Clearly visible during normal use, especially so if brightness is anythign less that 75%, and reflected in black screen tests which show a complete shift from yellow to pink.

i'm typing this on try #3. pinkish upper right, yellow bottom left, and a bright horizontal stripe across the center of the screen. it's on the edge of acceptable since i *really* need a new machine now. and i'm very sick of this game. but i think this one is also going back. i will try another.

none that im aware of. with a couple of them the screens were just immediate rejects so i didnt really us much after the first hour or so. I spent a little bit more time on the others, and didnt notice any IR. I didnt do any screen tests or anything like that (just my regular use) so I dont know.

IR does not seem to be problem any more. The problem is bloody yellow patches and totaly not uniform displays.

It looks good on colorful backgrounds and dark backgrounds but as soon as you open someting bright, you automatically see it straight away.

This has been said a million times. But please don't post pictures of your screen unless the pictures look like what you see with your eyes. If they don't, then the pictures are not relevant to how the display looks to you. DUH!

I took some photos of my rMBP's screen, compared the pictures to what I see with my eyes, what the camera sees is not the same what I see with my eyes.

On the photos, there's a noticeable case of vignetting, the edges are darker, it's nothing like that and it's definitely not what my eyes see.

After a numerous tests, I've concluded that my screen is flawless (or well, virtually flawless, but I'll see how it goes with time), I'm happy with it.

The only issue I have with it is that the esc key is slightly out of place, but as long as the button works, I'm not going to make a huge deal out of it.

Has anyone seen an enevenly lit 13"? Mine seems t be really bright on the left side of the screen but not nearly as bright on the right. Maybe it is also a bit yellowish on the right as well. Seen much posted about the 15" but wondering if this is a big an issue with the 13"

In my case, right bottom corner is darker and I can clearly see it when reading an email for example and it is really annoying !
If I move a white window from left to right of the screen, windows is progressively becoming less bright and more pink...

You're not alone. Mine is a bit brighter in the left top. It's kind of annoying indeed when you look at that part of screen, but I still kept it because I need a MBP to work, I have no time to play the lottery game. Apple really let me down this time. I've been a fan of them for years. My last laptop was a 2012 13" MBA and it's perfect. Then I sold it to buy this rMBP just for the "stunning Retina display"... Now what? I HATE APPLE for the first time!

I really wanted to go to the 13" from my 2012 15" but my 15" has a perfect screen. I agree with you about playing the panel lottery game. Thing is this screen wasn't even close. Even my neighbor looked at it and said why that the left side was very much brighter. I wish you luck.

That's really funny - after returning my 3rd rMBP because of display issues and dents, the Apple support answered "perhaps another Apple product could be the best for me"
For me that means, that Apple is knowing about their display-problems with the rMBP and they agree, that it is nothing for a critical customer spending over 3.000€ for a notebook...

I'm reposting this, because people don't seem to understand this still.

Please STOP with the pictures.
Cos they don't represent anything really, unless its really bad.
Cameras white balance the pictures, and the view angel automatically gives the corners less brightness.

So, just check it your self against a white background, or with the screen test site.
If you can see it and it bothers you, change it.
If you cant, then why would you exchange it?
So to ask if "Does this have nonuniform colors and/or are yellow tinted?" is really a stupid question, because if you cant see it, why would it matter?

If you want to show of your perfect screen that is fine, but no one can really tell from a picture if yours isn't, as long as its not really bad that is, but then you should be able to tell also.

If you can't see yellow tint your self, then just enjoy it. No matter what anyone else sees.
A lot of these photos makes the screens look horrible, and that is 9/10 times just because its extremely hard to take a accurate photo to really show the issue.
Look at the screen your self, if you can't see anything then fine. If you REALLY want to be sure, then just ask a friend to look also, because we really can't help you.

Can we all please acknowledge that photos of screen are absolutely deceiving?

that's some indication....rMBP is their flagship macbook pro, one of the best laptops ever, and....with such problem. I'll stick to it anyway, I'm using external display in 99% and 1% when I'm away. Within the next few years something must be done about those displays and then I will use my apple care for replacing display....once again or sell the laptop and get a new generation in 2015, 2016.......

At least I got new 2013 for free for my 2012 after genius bar appointment. Screen issue however remains the same.

This is frustrating.

I called Apple technical support today and asked to talk to someone high up. I was put through to somebody I can't remember his role but I said to him basically this: "I've gone through four 15" Retina MacBook Pro's since October, after the 4th unit I got a refund. All of the ones I received had yellowing in the bottom 50% of the screen, is Apple aware of it and if so when is a fix expected?"

He then replied with something like this: "I'm not currently aware of any issue like that with the Retina MacBook Pro but I'm very very sorry that you've experienced these issues."

I'm frustrated that they keep giving me this BS about not knowing about the problem. It is statistically improbable that I'd receive 4 machines direct from China all with the same (and obvious) defect which they don't know about. I'm convinced at this point they've been told to never admit to any kind of widespread manufacturing / design fault to keep them safe from a class action suit.
