This is a picture of the screen of my newest one (Serial R)
I want to exchange but I'm worried I'll get an equal or worse screen.

I just got the 15' rMBP 16-512-750.

On black I do not see this lights coming from corners at all, but next to my Dell Ultrasharp I can notice that the white during normal use is not the same.

Probably I would not notice with the dell next to it. Is that a yellow tint problem?

Sounds like your display is just on the warm side. As Long as it is uniform you can calibrate it to be more colder like your Dell.

If however part of your rMBP's screen is more yellow than the rest then you have a yellow tint issue.

OK, now i get it. No no, the color is full uniform in white and in Black. But in white is warmer than Dell.

Yes, you got a yellow-tinted display. Some of the displays Apple sells are yellow-tinted. I don't know why and I don't know the proportion. But you can't calibrate it to make it look more white. You can calibrate it to make it look less yellow or more blue but it will never be white. I've dealt with 4 of these displays, 3 of them yellow. If you want white you need to return the machine. You can compare your display to displays in the Apple store to see what it's supposed to look like. Apple doesn't consider the yellow tint a problem so they won't replace it later. If you're satisfied with your display, then fine, don't return it; but if you notice that your 3 thousand dollar computer has a yellow display, then yes, trust your eyes; it has a yellow display.

Do customised rMBP (those shipping from China) have better screens in comparison to stock units that you order from Apple store?

If the customised rMBP have better screens in general, I might order the 1 TB version.

From what I've read daily on the Apple support forums and here on MacRumors, the origin of the display doesn't determine its screen quality or whether it will have image retention or yellow tint or bad pixels.

Nope.

I have fully maxed out 2.6GHz/1TB model and went through 4 with **** screens.

Guys test your screen with this test (yellow test) and post your pic ;)

Don't do it if you are ocd about displays!

I got mine yesterday and was pleased before I did any tests, but wanted to do them anyway. Probably would have kept it even if I did see anything wrong with it.

I did a yellow screen test, and the gray bars were the same color (MAYBE slightly different, but only because of the power of suggestion). I checked for dead pixels - none. I thoroughly inspected a solid white background for uniformity and didn't notice any inconsistent tinting that I could see. I did the ultimate image retention test and didn't get any IR. I compared the whites to my iPhone, and the rMBP is slightly less white, but indiscernible unless directly comparing, and I can absolutely live with that - who here has had an ex-girlfriend or boyfriend? If you get what I'm saying.

I also checked the screen using a black background and this is where I found the only "flaw." There is a tiny bit of bleeding in the lower right part of the screen. Not in the corner, but maybe about an inch or two up the edge. And this is only noticeable in a pitch black room, with a pitch black background, focusing on the pitch black wallpaper itself, which I don't plan on doing very often...

Completely satisfied with my purchase. Bought it on December 14, received it on December 20.

2.3/16/512 dGPU. Sammy screen.

In December 2013, screens are still bad?

I've not yet received a unit in December 2013. But I received 1 unit in October 2013 and three units in November 2013.

I am currently awaiting my 5th unit which is coming on Monday.

But yes the screens are ****.

the yellow screen problem is what is keeping me from pulling the trigger on the 15 inch version with dgpu :(

They're not all yellow. You could buy one and if it's yellow you can exchange it or return it. But I got a yellow one in November 2013 on the 15" Retina MacBook Pro with dedicated GPU.

Actually all of them are yellow... It's just the extent of yellowness that differs.
To this day I have not seen a single display without a degree of yellow tint.

No no! My mid-2012 15" Retina MacBook Pro wasn't yellow! It was amazing! Honest. I loved it. But it developed white spots (muras) so I replaced it and got stuck with the Yellow Screen of Death. And I've seen non-yellows on display at the Apple store.

----------

did you exchange it and got a better one?

I'm not sure if I could have exchanged it because the machine itself was a replacement long after the 14-day period. So I'm stuck with it. Apple doesn't care; they consider the yellow tint normal. I've complained 3 times at the Genius Bar.

just got a new 15" rMBP 2.3ghz/16gb/512 still kinda on the fence about how bad my tint is, looks like the right hand of the screen has a slight tint but not super noticeable, not sure I'm going to return it or not, don't really notice it when I'm just normally using the computer, got an LG display
