Thanks – I'll quote you and reply in that topic.no mention of 'majority' in that topic, before I posted, so I addressed the question (about the perceived pretence) to anyone there:

Percentages of Yosemite users
Ah, that's too bad. Have you also looked into replies conveying the same general idea but using different wording instead of 'majority'? Interested to see what your personal findings are regarding the matter.

Evidence of mass pretence?

… Have you …

As the statement about group/mass pretence was by you, and as you (not me) read the things that caused you to form that opinion, I'd prefer the finding and referencing of those things to be done by you.

Opinions from Macworld and nearby

I found some info on the web listing 20 new tips on Yosemite plus much more. It might help with the problems of understanding the newness some seem to be experiencing.

Noted with thanks – http://www.macworld.co.uk/how-to/mac-software/advanced-tips-for-mac-os-x-yosemite-3582877/

From the following heading, I assume that someone at Macworld finds at least some aspects of the user interface difficult to bear, or unbearable with Apple's defaults:

Make the "flat" user interface a little more bearable

A little more. At https://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?p=20196279#post20196279 the first phrase in red was written by someone associated with Macworld.

I installed Yosemite today on my 2012 rMBP base model and it looks nice. No issues or wifi problem so far... It has been 2 hours so far. :apple:

I installed yosemite on my 2012 macbook air, and it looks awesome. I am in love with the new look. It gave a well needed refresh to my macbook. I'm using it with the dark mode enabled, and I love it. I had zero problems so far, everything works! Even Mail. haha

I absolutely love it. It makes my 11" MBA screen seem like Retina - somehow like I have a new computer (not that it ever looked bad, but this takes it a step further). The clean lines and simplicity... it is wonderful, and just how I like stuff. I can't believe there are still people harking after clumsy complicated 3D icons etc., but then it is horses for courses. Happily Ive et al seem to have come down on the side of the sort of thing I like.

I expected more apps to be updated by now. Unfortunately that's not the case yet. :(

For some reason this has been the slowest adoption to either of Apple's OSs. A lot of apps haven't been updated to play well with Dark Mode, let alone Yosemite itself. And a lot of apps haven't been updated for iOS 8 and iPhone 6/6 Plus compatibility.

Yosemite looks very Modern which I do like somewhat . I think Mavericks looked better but hey things change and I can get used to it . I like the flat design but I do not like the new icons .

"Apple wants to make the best" – Yosemite is too far from that

… No offense.

None taken. In recent months I'm openly passionate about raising awareness of why Cook's "Apple wants to make the best" statement is seriously contradicted by development of Yosemite.

The passion doesn't kill an ability to laugh at myself. And yes, I'm occasionally obsessed but it's not a passion-killer.

The years before development of Yosemite were, at times, equally filled with passion but this forum was not the venue …

It is beautiful. People who like dark mode because it's easier on the eyes should check out F.lux, it plays nicely with Yosemite dark mode feature.

Everywhere I go on the web I'm seeing too many "Yosemite is ugly" posts. That's just a casual observation. I did, however notice that the overall curve associated with Yosmemite's adoption rate on GoSquared (see link below)appears to have already leveled off in the vicinity of between 20-25%. If I recall, Mavericks didn't flatten out but maintained a reasonable slope, indicating people were still switching to it and it didn't really start leveling off until I think it went over 50%. Yosemite has been live now for several weeks.

Here's the latest Yosemite adoption rate graph:

https://www.gosquared.com/global/mac/yosemite/#beta

In reality, right now as I look at it, it actually looks like it's beginning to trend down, but I suppose that's just a statistical oddity.

We'll see.

I find it interesting the other Sticky is "Yosemite looks terrible" and one under i see this :)

Goes together like Apple & oranges ...

Like it. Installed on my new Mac Pro and all looks very good so far. Noticeably quicker compared to Mavericks. No complaints from me.
