It's like iOS7 for your Mac. Poorly tested garbage.

As a big lover of 10.6 to 10.9 I'm surprised at how much I'm liking Yosemite. Give it a chance

Even my 2007 iMac isn't slow to respond, Safari hasn't frozen and this machine is in my garage, probably 50-60' from the WiFi router and hasn't dropped a WiFi signal.

While I love the colors and new layout of Yosemite, I too am experiencing safari freezes, hangups, and overall system sluggishness.

I'm planning to do a fresh install but I am trying to figure out how to keep my bootcamp intact and the best way to migrate my programs and settings back into OS X, either from a Time Machine back up, or just manually copy everything over from an external drive.

If I were to fresh install on the OS X partition, would my bootcamp stay intact? Also, if I back up from a time machine, would that be alight or should I just do a manual copying of my programs, documents, and settings.

But many users get NONE of those issues, let alone any combination of them. I'm very happy, flawless upgrade from Mavericks and nice n stable since.

Hangups

I've noticed my fair share of Safari freezes (like on Verizon Wireless's login page), Mail freezes, and Handoff/Continuity randomly not working with Yosemite. This is a clean install too.

A bunch of bugs with 8.1 too, so it's difficult to determine if Handoff/Continuity problems is due to Yosemite or iOS.

I always recommend to people they wait a few months before upgrading so that big bugs found when released to the masses are fixed if they can't handle the new OS bugs.

It looks very nice indeed. The interface redesign is great. However, I had a few issues that I didn't have on Snow Leopard, Lion, Mountain Lion and Mavericks... the trackpad stopped working out of nothing, and I had to reboot it in order to make it work. Minor issues, not major, but annoying.

I would recommend manually copying things over, or at least selectively restoring things from time machine. If you just restore your backup, you'll most likely restore whatever is causing sluggishness.

If you erase ONLY your mac partition, as in click on the partition in disk utility and press the erase button, you will get to keep your bootcamp partition. The only way that you will lost that is if you accidentally erase the entire hard drive. Either way, I would back it up first as well.

There are Good things about Yosemite, others make me think of Yosemite Sam.

One thing I Liked is that my iMac is using Much, Much less memory than before. I'm talking about multiple GB's here.

I hate the Address Bar. I Want To See The Entire Address. OK, there are people that DON'T want to see everything. But I'd rather see everything possible.

Like how the Icons new look.

When I go to the Activity Monitor I've been seeing things both Good and Bad:

I'm not using Wi-Fi so why do I see it in use? Granted it's only a little, but I shouldn't see it unless I'm actively using Wi-Fi.

I have Many open Tabs. I like it when each open tab is named.

But I really Hate The New Tab look. I have accidentally closed a couple by accident. There needs to be stronger contrast or something to differentiate the different Tabs. The previous look was Way Better.

What is that Sandbox series of processes? Sometimes there are many Sandboxes running, sometimes only the one. What IS Sandbox?

Some Applications have a Helper. Like iTunes. Just what do those "Helpers" do?

Soon after I loaded Yosemite I noticed Several Processes that were stuck in the Red Shaded "Not Responding", frozen mode. I'm starting to wonder just how important those Processes were.

One thing I Really Liked is when I went to put my Mac to sleep and there was message from the App Store: My printer has software updates ready for downloading. That was nice. I usually wait until Friday Afternoon before I go to the App Store to look for the latest updates. Now when there something new there is a message telling me about it.

Then for nearly a week the App Store said there was an update waiting when there wasn't. It only stopped today.

Five major non-Apple Programs I run every day had to be upgraded, but at least that was to be expected.

I would also like to know why iTunes seems to be upgraded than any other piece of Apple Software. The very day after I upgraded to Yosemite I saw that iTunes had to be upgraded again.

One thing I wish I could do with iTunes has to with its window: I find it too large. With its latest version I can make it shorter and more manageable when changing radio stations or selecting a piece of music .MP3 music I have stored. But it is still too wide. I would be very happy if I could make the window about 2/3rds of its current minimum width.

My Internet Speed increased about 5%. Anybody else?

There are plenty of things I like, many things I want back , a couple of others that I find outright annoying.

These minor bugs should not be here, especially because Yosemite is supposed to run with a small variety of hardware. That makes such bugs more acceptable under Windows than under OS X.

Yosemite is great and works smoothly, except for the Wi-Fi issues. I've had these Wi-Fi issues since Mavericks, but they've since carried on to Yosemite and even intensified (I can't enjoy a single night without my wireless internet disconnecting at least five times. Yes, it's that bad). But; putting my Wi-Fi issues aside, Yosemite is great. I liked Lion a lot more though, simply because my Wi-Fi actually worked with no issues back then.

not happy. £1800 for a laptop that disconnects every 5 mins or so from my wifi.

What do you want to people help you with? Or do you want us sit here and listen to your barely literate rant and hold your hand and tell you it will be ok? I am not sure quite, but I get the impression that you don't want actual help, instead you just to want to rant.

If you were to take your time and explain your issues, then people might be to solve them for you. Instead, this is what I see.

I had some visual issues with Yosemite, BUT, from a performance standpoint it has revitalized my 2011 MPB into a new machine.

It runs Yosemite better than any OS since I bought the mch. Everything runs better and more efficiently, specially Safari. I had switched to Chrome while on Mavericks because Safari was so bad. Now I'm back on it and it flies...

Getting more used to the visual part and have changed the contrast and transparency settings and it looks a lot better.

My mac does not support handoff, continuity, or AirDrop (iPhone to mac) due to it's age and even with that, love this OS.. I'm not technically proficient enough to do the upgrade on bluetooth card that is here in MacRumors but I will find someone to help me.

Also, when I restarted on Mavericks it took 5-6 minutes for a complete reboot. On Yosemite it reboots in 2 minutes or less. The difference is staggering.

When you ditched windows for "minor issues", how much did you pay for those minor issues? $100? $200? How much did you pay for 10.10 and its minor issues? $0?

Feel free to ditch osx and go pay for the minor issues elsewhere.

Members post issues they have, others post about not having issues.
Many factors play into this, how many antivirus crap programs were installed when it was upgraded to 10.10? Other non compatible programs? Is someone experiencing a hardware issue?

Did you try a clean install and migrate only the data over?

Lots of factors go into issues and these issues need to be worked out. Not necessarily on apples end.

People are so quick to jump on others and lack the ability to even help themselves.
