Thank you very much. I enabled increased contrast ( which in turn reduces transparency as well ) and I agree, the readability got better again.
Quite happy with the result now !
I would make sure LCD font smoothing is off as well.

EVERYONE is having handoff issues, the ones that aren't are not using it, or tried it once and it happened to work. There's a lot of work for Apple to do on the Bluetooth LE side of OSX (iOS works perfectly well)
There are more bugs with Yosemite than i've ever encountered with an OSX upgrade before, thats not to say there are more, just that i've come across them more often, i've fixed a few with work arounds, most related to new or changed features though - the core of OSX is still solid as a rock.

i'm not asking for help. I'm ranting.
Apply shouldn't release software that is fundamentally broken with its wifi
I'm sure they see these forums - so I'm expressing my anger, thanks all.
Apple need to fix this problem. Until then, I'm unhappy. One loyal customer very unhappy. This should matter to them.
Boohoo indeed.
hahaha, funny.
ran away
It has to be. I've done everything from bring my router closer, get a new router, update my hosts file, delete my network preferences etc. and it still bugs me to no end. And if that isn't enough evidence that it isn't the OS, then how come the other computers in this house (which are running on Windows 8) seem to connect seamlessly with no problems?Ever considered it's not the OS?
hi all,
ever been invited to a lovely dinner party and when you got there all there was to eat was tripe?
No?
Me neither...
Then why is apple embarrassing us with this free yosemite tripe?
It's like ios7 for your mac. Poorly tested garbage.
Safari wakes and freezes. Wifi drops out. Handoff has its issues. Makes your mac slow to respond...
I am finding Yosemite stunningly gorgeous.
It probably is. But looking at it on a non-Retina display feels like listening to an audiophile recording using Apple earbuds.

I just changed the Yosemite font to Lucida Grande, using Version 1.2 of
this: https://drive.google.com/folderview?id=0B_u6AjwB3JxSR19USk9CSWhMTnM&usp=sharing
download link.
Installation is a breeze and I am very happy with the results. Lucida Grande, LCD font rendering off and reduced transparency option did the trick on my 1280 x 800 MBP display.
However, when you compare with Windows 7 on the same display, readability is still poor.
Thanks for the heads up !
Actually, I didn't. But why would it be? I've never banged my Mac, poured water on it while it was working, pulled its plug while it was running etc. I don't see any possibilities for hardware damage, and I don't believe my Mac's hardware would just spontaneously break for no reason. You've never considered it could be a hardware issue with the Mac?
(knock on wood) I've had no issues with any Mac OS and Wifi.
...and I don't believe my Mac's hardware would just spontaneously break for no reason.
Yosemite. Why is Apple embarrassing me like this?
There. I fixed that for you.

.
I had WiFi issues throughout testing whilst Yosemite was in Beta. That was on a 2012 spec rMBP, and others are finding similar issues on other Macs of different ages.
It seems to me that a config file of some kind is being corrupted.
Okay; let's say it's a hardware issue. How would I go about with checking it? I don't have that much experience with electronics in general, and much less so with Macs, so I'm afraid to cause further damage by inspecting my Mac.Hardware does spontaneously break without reason. However it is too common an occurrence for that to be the reason IMO.
