Can anyone expand on how Raise to Wake works? and how it responds to when phone is being carried in purse or pocket? Just curious if the screen is going on all the time, and if it can tell when you take it out of a purse to look at vs the obvious raising it from laying flat on a table...
If your phone is lying face down and you turn it over, the screen comes up for a brief moment (around 10 secs). If your phone is lying face up and you lift it (position changes from horizontal to vertical), the same happens. When the phone is mounted vertically on the dock and screen asleep, nothing happens even if you move it around, unless you change the position from vertical to horizontal and back to vertical.

So, I believe, if the phone is in your pocket, it might light up for a brief period when you get up from your seat.

It uses the proximity sensor to determine if your device is face down, in a pocket, in a bag, etc., so it would not light up.

3. Do spotlight suggestions still exist
4. Can we search widgets in the new Notification Center
5. Does the photos app get any of iPhoto's advanced editing tools. (Yes I'm aware Live Photos can now be edited. Not what I mean)
3. yes
4. No, it's just a rehash of the today section
5. No, the editing functions are the exact same ones from IOS9

From what I understand, it's information is deleted off of the device.

Along with the app itself? Obviously a few MB won't make any difference, but I'm very curious about this, as there's a big fuss about this issue and I've seen contradictory news. I've read that you can even reinstall these apps on airplane mode.

Question: Is there no way to get into message landscape now? From the videos I have seen, landscape makes it "handwritten note" mode.

There's an icon that shows a keyboard, as well as a very obvious "Done" button, but both are currently not operational for me.

I think it's safe to assume that rotating launches the handwriting by default, but you can access landscape messages using one of those two options.

Slightly annoying but I guess we will wait and see if any of that changes. I think a nice subtle change would be activate the arrow on the left then rotate for handwritten.

What's this please? Did I miss something in the Keynote?

Sorry I don't have any HomeKit items yet, thinking of upgrading the 1st gen Hue bridge.

It doesn't show up at all.

Thanks for taking the time to answer the question.

Bummer on the all-day calendar event. That's my biggest pet peeve, I think.

I recently made the plunge to the Gen 2 Hue bridge, I don't think you'll regret it!

My Google keyboard is working flawlessly

How does it compare to iOS 9? Did you have trouble with the keyboard before? Is there still a split second hic up when pulling down on spotlight and having the word suggestions above the keyboard appear?
[doublepost=1465985653][/doublepost]
Unfortunately it's the latter. I have a 6s Plus and not too happy to have the blazing fast unlock removed. Yes, you have to actually press the button to unlock.

No...it remains the same as IOS9.

But bonus info....the clock app is completely in dark mode

Do we have to set up the "number of hours we want to sleep" or can just set an alarm as normal, like in iOS 9.

The older normal alarm is still there. The 'bedtime' alarm is an additional one. I haven't explored this one yet. If you want me to, let me know what you would like to know about the new alarm and ill check

In Messages it seems like the way to add things like Bubble Effects is via 3D touch. Will non-3D Touch devices be able to add these these types of effects? Does it require the 3D touch or do you really just tap and swipe up?

By bubble effects if you mean the slam/loud/gentle/invisible ink effects or the background screen animations, it is currently triggered by 3D touch. I don't see any alternate as of now. But again, you might have read that many of the new functions are available only on 3D Touch devices in the first dev beta. So, we just need to wait and see if you get these iMessage effects through long touch.

However, for sending sketch or heart beat or stickers, no 3D Touch needed.

Well I hope you're right. There really isn't any reason it NEEDS to have 3D touch. In the current iOS you can tap on the camera button in Messages to send a photo or you can long press to bring up the instant photo/video thing. No 3D touch required.

Is the control panel section your on sticky? Meaning, if I use the music control panel and then slide it down to use some other apps, when I slide the control panel back up again, will it still be on music?

That is the only way I can really see having a separate music control panel not be an incredible inconvenience.

Apologies if this has been answered, can't be arsed to look through them all. Yes, whatever pane you leave it on, it'll be the same when you open it again.

How does the heartbeat thing work? Can your heartbeat actually be detected by the screen?

Can we buy apps without a password now with just Touch ID? I'm sick of entering my password every time to buy something, even if it's a free app.

(Only happens after a restart but usually by the time I download another app I restart my phone)
