What is being said is that the degree of which it is better than the others is so greatly exaggerated by those who prefer the 4S.

how can one go on about the camera in their phone like it's head and shoulders above any other smartphone out there? It's just not the case.

And what I am saying is I disagree. Nothing more. :)

I am no Apple fanboy. I use everything. Nothing (that I have tried) takes pictures as well as my 4S does. I am at a point where I am literally TRYING to find something that does as good a job (or better), if for no reason other than to prove to myself that there is something like that out there. Nothing, for me, has done that. The HTC ONE X might be that phone, though. I will have to see.

Bringing apps into it is pointless. Any processing you can do with an app on iOS can also be done on Android so I'm not sure of the point you're trying to make.

Reefoid, my point is the apps aren't available on Android. Furthermore, it's not only processing where the apps come in, there are a number of apps I use to shoot with that provide an edge as well.

Can you show me an Android app, or number of apps, that can transform the original I posted to look similar to the edited version with only a minute or two of editing? I am ok with being proved wrong :)

Try the One X, i have, and have now sold my 4S, the One X is a great phone, better screen, quicker, brilliant camera, the list goes on...and the design and build quality is great, gorilla glass2, iv had my One X since the day it came out and the screen looks the same today as then, i even managed to scratch my 4S with a screen protecter on!!!!!

This is the best comparison of the HTC One X camera vs the iPhone 4S camera. It simply shows you the results and lets you form your own conclusion:

http://www.techradar.com/videos/htc-one-x-vs-iphone-4s-camera-test-aJ2D7rM1i3OVz

To my eyes, it is clear the iPhone 4S took the better photos.

The videos looked very similar to me. The HTC One X has stronger noise reduction on low-light video, which could go either way as it also reduced sharpness and detail a bit.

There are many many things to complain about the iPhone 4S (and iOS), but the camera is certainly not one of them.

my opinion is that it looks like any other SG phone with different specs, the LTE iPhone will look so much cooler than that

Does that include the flash? ;)

With the iPhone 4S...you don't need a flash

The thing is though, I honestly believe the iPhone 4S is much better for photography than any other phone, mostly because of the apps and creativity it offers. I've shown people photos, tricking them into thinking they were taken with my DSLR, only to see the shock on their face when I told them it really was my iPhone :)

Here's an example of what's possible with under a minute of editing in some very simple iPhone apps:

And? The original is clearly much better in all regards.

This is funny b/c I thought the same thing. The pictures on the blog however are really nice and detailed. However - I can't see any reason why android can't achieve the same thing.

Having said this - one of the Iphone's strengths against many android phones is its Camera...but this is not and will not always be the case.

And? The original is clearly much better in all regards.

That took me 20 seconds to find. Your heart obviously isn't in it. It's much better if you can't find an Android equivalent isn't it ;)

What are the odds of Samsung announcing the Galaxy Tab 11.6 on Thursday also?

My guess is that Samsung will try to promote at least something else...too many eyes are going to be watching them so it makes sense if they have something else worth promoting.

I'm bored of iOS to be honest. And since you can do everything you do on an iPhone on Android as well, I might try out the next Nexus device. Galaxy S III is not an option because of that stupid TouchWiz.

Have you actually tried TouchWiz? Or are you hating it because it's cool to hate third party skins and prefer the "vanilla Android"?

TouchWiz actually does many things better than a stock Android.

As someone who has owned many Android and several iOS devices I see good and bad in both platforms and easily get bored with both, yes bored with both.

Apple plays it safe every year by not innovating their UI and Android allows crappy UI overlays (Google's fault for being an open OS).

One major issue with hardware side on Android is that the carriers dictate what they are willing to buy and sell so the OEM's have to cater to those demands. Carriers don't want the same phone on Verizon or AT&T so they want them with a different name, look, color, configuration so it makes it hard to offer a consistent branding image.

As for updates, well that's because Google holds the code back until they launch it for their Nexus device then the OEM's get it and it takes months to check the code and make sure it will work across their numerous phones which have different drivers, SoC configurations etc.

Neither is perfect.

I don't think you guys/gals know the capabilities of those apps. They are very simple and cannot come close to bringing the original to the edited version I quickly created here.

If you don't believe me, you are free to try :)

While I admit I'm not the best, you can't judge sharpness on the low resolution thumbnails posted here. Furthermore, liking something I personally created is not the point, my point is the creativity, editing quality, and shooting apps offered by iOS are not available on Android.

Nothing posted thus far has refuted this. Again, if you think I'm wrong, you are free to try. I'll even post the high resolution original if you'd like. I am happy to be proved wrong :)

The fact that you're doing all this on a cramped little 3.5" screen negates your whole argument IMHO. Why would you even bother? Fire up your mac/pc and do it the right way.

Personally, I'm really excited to see what's unveiled.

I predict it'll be somewhere near, or only a cut above, the HTC One X in terms of specs. Hardware-wise, Samsung has only gotten better, and with the promise of using higher quality materials, it'll be interesting to see how far they're taking it.

Software-wise, I'm hoping they take a cue from HTC and really downplay TouchWiz. As big as they've become, maybe they'll even have the guts to tell carriers to not put, or limit the amount of carrier-branded bloatware. One can hope.

Ultimately, though, despite what will be shown, I don't think I can pull the trigger until Apple unveils the next iPhone. Only then, can I make the best decision.

I've bounced between Nexus S, iPhone 4, 4S, and currently the Galaxy Nexus, and I can confidently say that the experience on both platforms have gotten closer and closer in similarity and quality. The differences are becoming relative and preferential. For the moment, Ice Cream Sandwich does a little bit more for my needs than iOS.

It's going to be an exciting year.

I am in the exact same mind frame. Waiting for both offerings before I choose.
