"The phone also uses what is described as a "natural language user interface" dubbed S Voice."

S Voice?!!!! Siri voice yu mean!! Yu copy! Copycat copy Korea!!
Really?
Because Siri is what exactly? A bought product.
Apple doesn't own the IP behind the voice recognition software.

S Voice = Samsung Voice.
Powered by Vlingo. Which has been around a lot longer than Siri. ;)

The One X has solid LTE battery life, a non-pentile display, and a much nicer polycarbonate casing. Plus it's available this Sunday in the States versus a vague summer release. The only thing I like about the SIII is the 64 GB model and home button.

I think the One X will be a big hit now that I've seen this.

Agreed. If HTC would have included a MicroSD slot it would really be no contest (IMHO).

Im convinced Samsung doesnt have the means to produce a phone or any mobile device of high quality like the iPhone and iPad. Metal is in and Samsung cant get through the door.

If they cant make an attempt at all to catch up with Apple in the design category, they are a88ed out because obviously the Android OS is no where near good enough to slow Apple and iOS down by itself.

They could at least shell out some cash to give the devices a high quality look. Im sure its harder than it seems to do, but still...Samsung...you guys gotta wake up. You guys are about to get blasted by the iPhone 5 in a few months.

I'm sold :D

Some of those features are actually really intuitive... having to keep tapping the screen when the screen is about to go off is annoying.

not gonna make final judgements on the (seemingly underwhelming) design and build quality until i check it out myself, but i like the wireless charging, automatic features, and in-call volume adjustments. the size may be a bit big also. i hope the camera is better than the S2 as well, which is already a good camera. and if they managed to get the battery life close to the Razr Maxx's.. then i think this should be a good phone.

The One X suddenly looks a lot more appetizing. However, I think I'll stick to my Galaxy Nexus. TouchWiz... is hideous. Apple and HTC are probably both breathing a small sigh of relief.

I think 2012 is now Apple's show to steal.

I had a GNex for 2 weeks and it was my first Android phone. I enjoyed using it. Do you think I'd hate using TouchWiz?

4.8 is just too much, and it looks like any other sammy phone, cheap plastic

I wouldn't have minded something more similar to the Nexus.

I hate that you have to hold the home button to get to the open apps though,

samsung totally blew it. I was expecting 5.6" screen but no, they only put in a pentile display of 4.8". That's a joke.

Aside from additional memory, I honestly don't see a single reason why anyone would get this device over the HTC One X.

I do see several reasons to get the S3. But they are my personal reasons and not up for debate. I have my S2 Skyrocket to keep me occupied until the S3 arrives. Hopefully, get ICS is month too, to prepare me for the S3's UI.

Nothing against the HTC, it looks like an awesome phone as well. And maybe it is better for many people. Just not me.

Samsung built a LiquidMetal phone back in 2008, but that's obviously not their intent these days.

They're going for light weight and smooth curves, which I have come to appreciate over time. It's amazing how light their big tablet is, and even their Galaxy phones easily slip in and out of pockets.

I used to not think much of their case materials. Now I don't care because even with a nice non-slip cover, they're still so thin.

I'm underwhelmed by the announcement. If I go to Android anytime soon it would either be the Galaxy Nexus (pure Android) or the HTC One X (as much as I hate skinned Android, the hardware is exceptional).

I personally can't stand TouchWiz. I experienced it on my sister's Vibrant. Granted, TouchWiz has apparently come a long way now, but from what I've seen in various preview videos of TouchWiz 4.0, I'm not convinced enough to convert.

Android 4.0 has finally reached a point where it can--and should--be how Android is always experienced.

Of course, you can probably test out a Galaxy SII in stores to get a feel for TW.

Is this the best you can do Samsung? The specs seem alright except for that pentile display. The phone design and build quality seem uninspiring.
Another "meh" too effort from Samsung. Makes me ashamed to be a Korean.

Why would anyone considering an android phone get this over a HTC One X?

What about Sense and Blur? Have you had extensive experience with those? I just want an opinion from someone who's used pure android.

I was certain I was going to get a One x or GSIII at the end of the month but I've changed my mind for now and may save my upgrade for autumn for the new iPhone and nexus releases. That'll also let me see what Windows Phone Apollo brings us too.

The Nexus' Achilles heel is the camera but I'm sure I can live with it for now.

The moment a modified UI prevents you from enjoying the latest Android build you may regret it.

I got stuck on 1.5 on an old HTC hero seeing Android 1.6 and 2.0 come and go.

Not sure why someone down voted you but I voted you up! Some really nice features.

Because this is an Apple forum and some people can be quite bitter about rival technologies. I would expect to see the same in a new iPhone thread on an Android forum.

I LOVE the look and almost everything about it... if all of the new features work well, there are some incredibly useful features implemented. The feature that automatically tags your friends in photos will save a lot of time for Facebookers. With 64GB internal, with the ability to expand with a 64GB MicroSD and 50GB free Dropbox space, makes it the best for storage. The screen looks amazing.

The only thing I didn't really care about, although it could be useful for some, is the video popout feature. You can't properly watch a video and do other tasks at the same time...

Watch their latest commercial if you want to be disturbed: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=2lpLGb1WW8E

The gimmicks in the GSIII annoy me. So do the services that most people won't want to use. Their new campaign seems bad. The phone looks bad.

But if we see past that, we still have a great big screen, a fast processor, (hopefully) good battery life with that larger battery and other optimizations, and a smooth lag-free experience.

Both the GS III and the One X are tempting me...
GSIII:
-removable battery
-possibly smoother experience than what HTC brings
-Micros SD slot
-ugly design (imo)
-annoying button design (for me)

One X:
-crisper screen
-beautiful looking design
-nice capacitive buttons (my preference)
-no Micro SD card slot
-stuck at 16GB, 12GB available to user (AT&T version)
-arguably better UI design

Can you please clarify? Is it because you have to wait for Samsung or HTC or Motorola to release their version of the android release with their skin?
