i have it right there. fresh install to new partition.

In lion it does tell you which hard drive the item is on. it do-sent seem to work on every search i do but does on most of them.

Has any one else noticed when in full screen mode, moving your mouse to the top of the screen shows the taskbar and on the right hand side is a new button which will take the application out of full screen mode?

Edit - upload screenshot of the fullscreen exit button, top right hand corner.

If you hold a button on the keyboard long enough certain letters, for example "a" or "o", they will get more options like Umlaute etc.

Thats not too bad as i still don't know how to get a # in SL.
The key things just worked in safari google search bar but won't work when typing in this little text box? I'm guessing it will get a little annoying when you tend to like the repeat key, unless thigh can be turned off.

Yes, and the menu bar icon is critical because it seems to be the only way to get out of fullscreen mode. There is not yet a dedicated keyboard shortcut to toggle it on and off.

You can go into the keyboard preference pane and map a keyboard shortcut for entering/exiting Full-Screen Mode. I chose Shift+Command+F, for example. It's not a standard feature or anything, but it's handy if you want a keyboard shortcut for that functionality.

Not sure if anyone's posted this yet, but there's Quicklook for URLs in Mail. Press the arrow next to a URL and a Webkit view of the page will pop up, giving you the option to open in safari.

Another thing it's built into Mac os X now, you can navigate the options pressing the tab key, also another hint, almost always there is an alert windows with options like accept or cancel if you hit enter you select accept, and if you hit the spacebar you select cancel!.

In some apps like Photoshop you can select the "Don't save" option by pressing the key D.

Bottom line, enter selects the highlighted button and spacebar selects the border highlighted one, check this example :

accept-incoming-network-connections.png

Hitting escape wil also always cancel out of that, and if "D' doesn't work automatically sometimes command+D works for "don't" ...

ahhh SL partition. that would do it.

it would be nice if under the icon spotlight showed you what partition the app was from (if it wasnt in the standard place i mean). so that iSync should say "disk name/applications" or something.

I'd love if they did that automatically but at least in SL if you hover your mouse over the selection it'll show the path, does that still work in Lion?

*feels mildly stupid*
thanks :)

Just realised pinch to zoom no longer resizes icons in finder, including the desktop. Personally I couldn't be happier they've done away with this, too many times I accidentally ruined my perfectly crafted desktop with an errant gesture.

Seriously that was so irritating, especially if you were in the middle of a project or had an exact map in your mind where everything was.

In SL, if you had an item minimized, in Expose, you could see the items under a line. In Lion, if you minimize either into the Dock or into the Application Icon, going into Mission Control, you won't see it displayed anywhere.

Yeah I definitely hope this doesn't remain in the final build ...

Made a quick video of some the the new key features:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g__MbkKbBXE

Thanks, seeing that in motion helped a lot for those of us without the dev preview installed yet!

I was hoping Mail would have a "Send Later" feature. That doesn't seem to have been added.

This would be very useful, let's suggest it to apple.com/feedback because there are countless instances when I don't want to send an email immediately (might think of an edit, don't want people to know I'm awake still, like now, etc).

When you hold the alt/option key then click on the wi-fi.. there's a new menu that says "Wi-Fi Diagnostic"

Awesome. Can you tell us in a list or upload a screenshot of what the options/functions of this are?

thats quite nice, like iOS. if you change to a different keyboard layout the first letter changes appropriately.

press option+3. doesn't work in this reply box for me either, but works in the URL bar and elsewhere like Text Edit.

found this while option clicking around. awesome! reopens all windows and tabs. same as the restore feature, except you don't have to logout/restart :D

wegwiu.png
(option-click Safari menu)

also the menus are now a little more translucent than before (expect me to notice :D) the original Leopard menus where too translucent and the replacements where too opaque i thought. these are perfect!

Nice. I wonder why that's not the default behavior, like it is with other apps.

the Command+G seems extremely useful, and I know I'll be using it almost daily. I still want ONE MORE THING from Finder, and it'll become perfect: a cut/copy & paste option! instead of just copy/paste.

I didn't read through the whole thread (13 pages) so I don't know if anyone has responded to your post but there IS a cut & paste function now in Lion. It's not exactly CUT & paste since it's been combined with copy & paste.

Try this:
Cmd+C, Cmd+Option+V

oh thats true i forgot about that, it still works yes - thanks for reminding me

something
i was going to say something to you - but i forget. hmm

edit: OH! right. the safari picture - i think the quit option is FAR too complicated now. i prefer the warning popup similar to when you logout.

I don't have Lion, that's why I asked the question in the first place. :p
what does "Cmd+Option+V" do? because in SL it doesn't do anything.

that does absolutely nothing for me in text edit and safari (lion). :/

I don't get it, then you can no longer repeat a key by holding it down? For example, now I can type this: "iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii" when I hold down the letter I.

It doesn´t work in every textfield. For example, it works in the url bar in a browser or if you create a new folder. But it doesn´t work in this textfeld.

BTW: Found this. If you press Ctrl+Left Arrow Key you jump to the dashboard, Ctrl+Up for Exposé, Ctrl+Right jumps
to a fullscreen app, and Ctrl+Down shows all windows of the currently running app.

I don't know if it has been reported already: new tabs in Safari now open close to their "mother" tab where they originate from and not like in SL that all new tabs were opening at the bottom.

I like it. It behaves in the same way as Google Chrome does.

HDD hog

I've noticed a problem with diminishing free HDD space, probably due to the system taking snapshots and not freeing up the space afterward. It may also be due to TRIM, considering that I've an SDD HD. Anyone knows the solution for this, or how to delete the system snapshots manually?

The problem here is in Time Machine. Open it's configurations, click Options and than unbox Create local Snapshots ( I think it might be that in English...)

I've noticed that here too...Did anybody find out a solution?...

Solution? Solution for what? It is used (like iOS) to type alternate vowels. For english, this is no problem. But for those that speak other languages, this is GREAT! It saves so much time being able to not have to map the keyboard and remember what is what, or type in the letters using the virtual keyboard.
