Slightly Different Buttons in Game Center

Currently this is only in Game Center that I've found it, but the buttons lack the shading, and look cleaner. I also attached the regular button look from the logout window.

*Update this is also in share sheets as well

cool animation for closing notifications

when you close a notification it makes a really nice "poof dissolve smoke " effect. it's hard to see the full effect in screenshots, but it looks awesome.

Are you able to use iMessages without owning an iPhone/iPad?

I recently upgraded from an iPhone 4 to a Galaxy S2.

Tiny little inconsistencies bug me. For example: Game centers tabs have solid line divisions between them from the top of the button to the bottom. But the new style in Lion is division lines between tabs and buttons that does not completely go from top to bottom.

Look at the attached images below and you can see what partial division lines I am talking about in iCal between day & week, and the Finder on the back/forward buttons and the views. Game centers tab button need to be the same way and stay consistent! Come on Apple! :apple:

Other examples of this are Apple needing to fix the buttons in Time Machine to make them like the new iOS style ones in Versions and also putting back the old Time Machine portal background instead of using the same new Versions background that isn't designed for a single view as opposed to the double document Versions view. Also the on/off switches in OS X need to be like the new rounded ones in iOS 5 which I posted screen shots of earlier in this thread. The traffic lights in Address Book need to be highlighted when the app is selected like every other app instead of only when you mouse over them. And so on...

But I am very excited for Mountain Lion. I suspect and hope there is still a lot we have not seen like a new Music and iTunes app, iBooks, iTunes U, Videos app, and much more from iOS that is needed to make them more consistent together!

Duplicating a file now:
1. Immediately lets you choose a name for the new file (see shot above)
2. Immediately saves it to the same folder as the original file, either locally or on iCloud

Dagnabbit. Am I the only one who doesn't like that? Giving it a new name immediately is nice, but how do I save a duplicate to a different location, other than by alt+dragging the proxy icon?

As for the mental clutter of having yet another document hanging in limbo, I completely lost that. It's interesting to see how many of my open documents are actually "unsaved". Mostly because I'm now using TextEdit instead of Stickies, though.

I usually have a finder window open in the folder that I want to save my work, so I just drag a file from that folder to change the folder on dialog box, that was very useful for me

This. Is there a way to switch to the directory, maybe by dragging the folder onto the directory choosing choicebox thing? If not, can you registered Mac developers please post that as unwanted behavior in the feedback form?

This is really important to me. One of my issues after switching to OS X was that you couldn't copy & paste the path from a Finder window to a save box, so I was more than delighted about that drag&drop feature. Besides, how many times is it actually useful to drag a file directly to that folder?

Doing some experiments about this feature, I found that it isn't lost! they changed but you can still drag a file to the TITLE of a dialog box and it will change the dialog box to the folder of that file!

I made another video showing the "drag to the window title"

Hooray! Well, that's a relief. Thanks for testing :)

Thinking about it, it does seem to make more sense to be able to move the file directly to the selected folder - I guess they've turned the open / save file dialog box into a full-fledged Finder sheet, with renaming and moving files. Though I wonder if they will keep the possibility to move files into iCloud, or if they consider it a bug.

Ad hoc network

Has anybody tried creating an ad hoc network on ML? I can't seem to figure it out. Was this option taken away in ML, or was it just simply moved?

I tried also, but it looks like a bug, it's gone from wi-fi menu but there are still options about it on wi-fi pref. panel

Another fun bug

If you move a file to the title of a open/save dialog box while it is in iCloud tab, it will show the folder of that file as it were from iCoud!

Glad I'm not the only one who couldn't figure it out. I thought the option might have been moved from the WiFi menubar to somewhere in system preferences, but I couldn't find it anywhere.

I think I remember reading this somewhere but I just want to clarify: will the app store in OS X 10.8 link apps from a DVD to the App Store? For example, I bought iWork '10 as a physical DVD, and whenever there's an update I have to go to software update instead of the App Store (where I'd have to pay for iWork all over again to make it in sync with the App Store). Will ML recognize my iWork and link it with iWork in the Mac App Store?

I've read this too, but I can't seem to find it now.

Software Update is gone, now all the updates will be made from app store so yes your DVD iWork will be updated by App Store

Well, yeah, but I believe (if I remember correctly) that Mountain Lion takes it even one step further and lists a DVD-version of iWork under Purchases in Mac App Store.

So if I search "Pages" (for example) in the Mac App Store in ML, it'll say I've purchased it, since it linked it with the DVD version?
Can anyone confirm this?

"The Mountain Lion App Store will automatically detect any app that has historically been updated through Software Update and ask to register it to your Apple ID, along with a unique hardware identifier,” Brownlee reports. “What this means is that the App Store will soon be able to update select Apple apps that were purchased outside of the App Store.”

Exactly what I was looking for. Thanks. :D

Can someone please tell me if they have changed the file size listing in info???

In Lion they changed it so that a crazy number of bytes are displayed first and then a normal number is after in parenthesis. WHY ON EARTH DID THEY EVER DO THAT??? It makes no sense whatsoever! The normal number should be listed first and then the bytes after in parenthesis. PLEASE CHANGE THIS IN MOUNTAIN LION APPLE!

Here is a screen shot of what I am talking about in Lion.

Looks like its the same from what I just tested, sorry!

Here is a screen shot of what I am talking about in Lion.

The first thing I see is 55,3 GB. Just right of the file-name. Below the exact size is mentioned (and the 'normal number').

Sounds like you two are contradicting each other.

In Lion it is currently displayed like this: 55,301,914,760 bytes (55.3 GB)

It SHOULD be like this: 55.3 GB (55,301,914,760 bytes)

I mean would anyone disagree with me? It is crazy that Apple listed it the first way in Lion and not the latter like any normal person would expect! It is very annoying to me because it is not easily glance-able, you have to search or scan when you look at it just to see how big something is. It is only in Lion that they switched it weird like that too!

So can either of you confirm which way it is in Mountain Lion for sure?

Thanks :)
