Activity Window is gone from Safari.
hah, literally the only reason I used it. After Safari started freaking out with HTML5 videos I dropped it for Chrome. I was going to try it again but not anymore. I dont think Safari has a lot of life in it, they will see a further drop in market share now.

Web Inspector does the same thing about a hundred times better.

Hey I've been looking in some screenshots of Mountain Lion DP4. Is it me or has the text changed in OS X menus. Kinda like the text in the latest iPhoto update.

Apps that are carryovers from iOS (Notes, Reminders, Calendar, Contacts) use Helvetica Neue, like iPhoto. Finder and the rest of the system use Lucida Grande, like previous versions of OS X.

I hope you're not talking about the issues the beta had. It would be funny if people were judging software by unfinished versions again. If so, you should give Safari another chance. It's still faster than Chrome and all the HTML5 issues I had in earlier DPs were fixed with DP4 and it's subsequent updates. Nothing seems to be new UI/features wise in the GM thus far so it's likely been all bug and stability fixes this time around. Even better.

In regards to Activity window being killed, thus not accurate either. It's no longer a separate window by default, but the same functionality and then some was put into the Develop menu under "Show Page Resources" which pulls up a particular section of the new Web Inspector which is vastly improved. It even has the exact same keyboard shortcut Activity had (command-option-A). From there you can have it pop out as a separate window if you prefer. The only thing it doesn't do that I can find is give the data size next to the asset downloaded.

Hope that entices you to try it again and forget your beta woes.

I believe we have new wallpapers. Including the elusive Zebras.

I also have more I can upload if people want them.

Ya. There's a Moon and an Earth and Moon.

Also I think an actual icon of an ipad in color in one of the export dialog windows.

RAM load traded on CPU

I don't know if it's just me, but it seems that with latest ML GM build, all the RAM intensive programs like Safari have switched part of the job on the CPU... anyone noticed something similar?

That's unlikely, as that is not how computers work - the CPU cant really do things that the RAM does.
The RAM is like a very quick hard drive, it is for temporary storage when programs run. The CPU processes items and does calculations.

Also you shouldn't worry about applications using RAM, that's what its there for. If RAM isn't being used then its being wasted.

However, it is always a good thing that applications uses as little RAM as possible, even if 4GB of RAM is the norm today... to avoid using virtual memory just after opening the second application... you know

Gorgeous wallpapers! Moon was in Lion, and Milky Way DP4, but I think Sky is new...

Milky Way is my favorite :3

As somebody said, none of these are new except the Zebra wallpaper. I know this because I've been using the Sky wallpaper for my desktop for the last 3 weeks since WWDC 12.

Yes its a careful balance. You don't want to write bad programs and waste RAM, however,if spare RAM is available then you should make use of it if you can!

Little thing - I can't see any way to get the battery time appearing next to my battery like I used to in Lion, anyone got any ideas? I can only get the percentage on the menu bar, with time in the drop down.

Thoughts?
